Following Fracture [Safie/Cecil]

Cecil couldn't help but sputter a little at the way that had been explained. "I-I...guess, you could put it like that?" Yep. Definitely unimpressed with whoever was looking after her behind that door. "Not...literally screaming, though. More controlled than that. I don't think many people would like to hear actual screaming all day..."

He started to laugh, but it was a nervous laugh over one filled with actual humour. "You...don't seriously think...?" Reaching into a pocket, he pulls out his own smartphone - a decent model, but hardly top of the line. "I don't know what type they've told you about, but...most fit in your pocket now. Like this. They can do a load of other stuff, too." He watches Safie, wary of an attempt to seize his phone. "Stuff like this...isn't even too expensive now. Basically anyone can get one without too much cost."

"Oh, wonderful." Safie tilted to one side, not reaching for the phone but certainly trying to keep it in view. "I did wonder how one could attempt 'selfies' and 'thigh pics' using a phone box. Most ingenious. I should consider investing in one. In which direction can I find the shrieking halls?"

She started casting about in every direction, looking for the exits to the park, admiring the beginning of the city proper, where harsh steel cut lush forests short.

"You probably shou- sh-shrieking halls?" Cecil's eyes drifted everywhere as he worked through his bafflement before the probable answer occurred to him. "O-Oh...uh...I think you mean Suzie Q...the district is a bit far from here. I, uh, don't know how things work behind that door, but there's more doors like that in the district, so...you could, uh, get there through there, maybe? Maybe...go to the Backlight first, though? The place where all the shops are. You'd be able to get a phone for yourself there? Maybe buy other stuff?"

"Suzie Q... What a bizarre name. Why is it called such?" Safie pondered her question for a moment, staring at Cecil. "Never mind, I shall endeavour to enjoy the etymological search myself. Your advice is well-received and whilst predicated on the assumption that I possess both mercantile means and the necessary currecny, I will ensure that I bring a transactionally appropriate allowance upon my next visitation. Until then, Cecil. Farewell? Goodbye? Toodle-o? I don't know."

She waved, stiff and rote as if picking the gesture from a diagram, before striding off towards Suzie Q.

The reason for the naming of Suzie Q was not an answer that Cecil could provide, nor was it one he had even received the chance to. Before a word could even be uttered, Safie was saying her goodbyes and moving off. "U-Uh...goodbye?" He waves awkwardly as he sees the strange girl go off into the distance...in completely the wrong direction, heading toward a set of silos in the distance.
He takes a moment to glare at the floating door of Velvet, hoping his displeasure with how clueless this girl had been left transferred through to the master of that realm.
Then, he sighs, lamenting that he couldn't leave well enough alone.

Before long, he's running after Safie in an attempt to make sure she doesn't get wrapped up in anything.
"Hold on a minute!"
