Geez...he hadn't meant to do that. The awkward silence hung after the question, the answer he'd received mirroring his own thoughts at the time he'd first been asked about what his dreams were.
Is that what I looked like to Gabriel?
Still though...to receive an answer so close to his own...it was almost kind of funny. He found a dark laugh escaping him, an acknowledgement of the miserable ways the world worked sometimes. "And there was me assuming everyone else had it together. One thing knowing there's theoretically people in my position, but another having them be right there telling me so."

Cecil slows to a meandering pace, one foot slowly drifting before the other. "...no need to worry about it. You'll be fine however things go. Been told before - we all have dreams. You'll figure out yours."

At Cecil's hesitation, Tomomi just felt ever more awkward about having spoke up. Perhaps it... Wasn't the best choice of conversation topic. Still, while it didn't lead to a smile, what Cecil said next encouraged the boy. Dreams, eh?

Without even thinking about it, he found himself looking up at the sky. Dreams...

And at that thought, he caught himself falling into a daydream, shaking his head rapidly, before laughing to try ease the awkwardness of the situation. "Aha... To you too. We'll find our dreams. Some day."

Cecil gave a little chuckle at that. Probably you before me.
"Some day. That sounds good."

A flash of sudden realisation comes across Cecil's face, and he checks his phone. "Uhh...we miiight wanna pick it back up again. Still got a while yet." He looks over to Tomomi, smiling wide. He struggles with the words, until..."Say, Tomomi? Feel like meeting up again sometime after we get this done?"

He felt the nerves strike the moment he put the words out there. He hadn't done this before. He'd never put the idea forward himself.
He got lucky with other people doing it, but would it be the same now...?

At the words, Tomomi nodded, dropping the litter picker to the ground suddenly before pulling out his phone with fumbling hands, turning it on, unlocking it, and turning it to Cecil. "Um... Here's my number! Feel free to contact me whenever!" He declared with a smile, not that the other boy could see the smile with the hygiene mask on, and upon hearing Cecil give an affirmative sign of having taken the boy's number, returned his phone to his pocket, picking the picker up again. And at that, he continued with his work, making idle chit chat with his newfound friend.

Cecil scrambles to grab his phone again as he receives a far more enthusiastic response than he expected. "Hold on hold oooon, one momeeeent..." He rapidly plugs in the number. "And juuuust..."
A new message comes in on Tomomi's phone.

UNKNOWN NUMBER: Testing...

"Yes!" He practically beams. "...well, that's a thing now...umm..." He pauses. "Let's just get moving."
During the rest of the route, the boy proves he's not an adept conversationalist. Enthusiastic as of then, but somewhat clumsy. Not that he really cared at this moment.
Another friend. And he actually made it happen this time.
YEEEEES!
