| Top Ward was one of the forbidden fruits of Junction Milton desires to observe with his own eyes. Living in the Middle Ward wasn't bad at all, simply packed full of people around the blocks and all too familiar routes Milton trudges on a daily basis. But the view from the Top Ward was supposedly a sight to see. Although there was a fence separating the folks inside of Top Ward from those on the outside, that didn't stop Milton from standing outside the gated community, standing on whatever platform he could find outside the gate to gaze around at the higher echelon of citizens going about their business.
Today, Milton decided to do his usual passing stroll by the gateway, shuffling along the gate to find a place to watch the passing citizens while leaning against the fence. To a certain gnome, the gaze of a silent observer could be detected. There could be others going about their business, but perhaps the shining eyes of one seemingly stiff human boy would end up meeting this new specimen of his observation.

| Heiss, of course, noticed it for quite a while, and after going over the probability of it being a threat, decided to settle the matter quietly rather than publicly.
No need to draw attention to himself... yet.
Going over to where Milton was without making much of a ruckus, he leaned back against the fence next to Milton as well.
"Young man, why are you observing me?" he quietly asked in a tone that merely hid what was really going through his mind.
Mainly; Was this boy someone he could use, someone he would merely have to observe carefully, or someone he would have to eliminate?
After all, he had to build a new network here. May as well start somewhere...

| Milton's eyes returned to the shorter man now sharing his spot by the fence, both gentlemen on opposite sides of the fence. Milton kept his position and looked the older man over, taking in the details of his appearance and voice as they spoke. His eyes met with a blank yet inquisitive stare, his skin breathing with the flow of energy that caused it to lightly shift around his metal appendages.
"Oh, pay me no mind, sir. I'm simply observing the passtimes of the upper echelons of society. This sky viewing plaza is so expansive and beautiful to gaze upon. Absolute shame they only let Top Deck residents in. But I suppose one can imagine the view from any portion of the sky they can see... expanses of stars as far as the eye can see, some bordering on a new universe altogether. What are you up to today, sir?"

| Oh? Upon further inspection, he realized something seemed... off about the young man. Something strange he couldn't quite put his finger on.
Though when he met Milton's gaze, then it finally hit him. Those blank, yet inquisitive eyes, well. They almost reminded him of...
"No. Not now." he said, shaking his head mentally to dismiss the thought.
As for what he said... "Why, i'm just out on a walk, like most people my age do." he said, giving the boy a minor lie. In truth, he wanted to go and see something for himself.
Something that he would be checking the records for...

| Going out for a walk? It was a general response, could likely be true if this guy was bored and needed to stretch his rather short legs and enjoy the scenery. Milton did the same thing when off the clock, though his reason for aimlessly searching the streets was often in the means of exploring the unknown or visiting usual haunts to enjoy the services he so commonly used. When it came to the comment on his age, Milton took another look over the man, recognizing a few physical tells of age. He didn't seem particularly old, but then again, Milton wasn't the best judge of age due to the longer lifespan of his people. He'd place him just above Dr. Klein's age range, maybe 40 years and older. Milton averted the man's gaze to collect his thoughts and process what to say next; he wasn't given much of a conversational hook to go off of. His hands gripped the ends of his scarf and stuffed them into his jacket, making sure it wouldn't fall off again to keep his label covered.
"A walk? Hmm, I see what you mean. It's a lovely day among the stars, isn't it? The air's just cool enough to warrant a jacket and scarf, and a new world is just below our feet. Things certainly don't stay dull on Junction for long if you know where the action is. So, sir, what is it like living in a rather gated community up here? Is it like a upper-class well-knit community, or are there multiple divisions of relations that make forming a community difficult?"

| He examined the boy carefully, with there being something... odd about him that he couldn't quite place. Although the questions he was asking did interest him, if only because they would seem out of place for an ordinary civilian to ask.
"Then again, there are no such things as ordinary civilians here." Heiss thought to himself with a mental chuckle, as Junction's rather... colorful locale never entirely ceased to amaze him.
While he did consider the boy being some sort of spy, possibly in a class warfare scheme, he put it low on the possible outcomes.
Still, it never hurt to check, just to be safe...
"That would depend on who's asking, and why." he said, just to mess with the boy a little, not really taking a particular edge to his tone.
It never hurt to be safe, after all.

| 'Depends on who's asking'? Was he being cautious of Milton? Okay, so a seemingly 16 year old kid kneeling against the fence with little concern for being told to get off or stop bugging the locals would seem unnatural, but Junction was full of that kind of variety. It was the spice of life that kept Milton from feeling the homesick worry about seeing his home planet anymore, events unfolding and shaping the land outside of his view... Oh wait, he had forgotten to introduce himself.
In a kind gesture, Milton kept his hand pressed against the fence, not risking sticking it through to shake hands as his glassy yet colorful eyes sparked with energy. "Ah right, introduction, now that I've caught your interest. My name's Milton. I live down on the Middle Ward. Who does that make you then?"
