Subject: Jerome [Junction] Wed Apr 04, 2018 2:53 am
Jerome the Dumpster Gnome "Every day I wonder why I did this to myself..."
"...what was I thinking? What have I done...?"
The Biography
Birth Name: Jerome Allgnome Aliases: Jerome the Dumpster Gnome Gender: Male Age: 38 Birth Day: June 21st Species/Race Name: Gnome Species/Race that you have been spliced with: Trashlord Original Homeworld Name: Iamongtosih Arcana: The Hanged Man - The Hanged Man Arcana is associated with self-sacrifice for the sake of enlightenment, the bindings that makes one free, paradoxes and hanging between heaven and earth. Hanged Man characters may be self-sacrificial, but are more often notable for being caught between two different extremes or parties. Place of Residence: Commercial Ward Academy Semester: N/A Class: N/A
Part/Full Time Job: "...as if anyone would hire an abomination like me..."
Appearance: Jerome stands at 3'7, relatively short even for his own kind, relying on his signature pointy red hat to get by in a tall and uncaring world. He weighs about fifty or so pounds and almost all of it is flab with him overall possessing very little muscle mass. His black eyes carry in them a glimmer of sorrow even at his happiest moments and his own set of clothes is dreary, dirty, and covered in stains and spots. But perhaps the most noticeable physical aspect of Jerome is his stench -- the stench of a Dumpster Gnome.
Personality: Jerome is a sorrowful and deeply tormented man. Once jovial and uncaring, unhinged in his jokes and never considering the consequences, now he can't help but wallow in his misery. His purity has forever been tarnished and his general demeanor reflects this as he fails to hide the unfathomable sorrow raging within him. This is all thanks to his status as a Splicer: the Trashlord genes he hosts are the source of all his woes and every waking moment of his life they haunt him. Whenever he looks in the mirror he can only see a trash bag, whenever he tries to converse with others they flee in disgust or taunt him with their vicious pity, whenever he takes a breath he's haunted by the taste of grime and garbage that he pollutes the surrounding oxygen with merely by his sheer presence alone... Even on a subatomic life he finds himself tortured. The thought of his very DNA, the code that makes him him, being tainted by literal trash... it's something he can't bear to live with. All the joys life had to offer now escape him and everywhere he looks he finds only suffering.
This is the life of a Dumpster Gnome. It is the life he created for himself... and it is a life he'll do anything to escape.
The Potential
Strengths:
—Strength Name: Roasted —Description: After numerous run-ins with flamethrowers at family reunions gone wrong, Jerome's body and soul have adapted to the flames that sought to purge him, further prolonging his miserable existence. Though they may leave scorchmarks and wound the flesh, they can no longer hurt him -- all other pains dwarf in comparison to his true agony. Because of this Jerome takes 15% less damage from Fire skills such as Agi.
—Strength Name: Eternal Beggar —Description: Those willing to give Jerome their hard-earned Vice Credits are few and far between, but they're his lifeblood, and whenever they donate they recognize it. He receives 15% extra VC from work threads.
—Strength Name: Miniature Stature —Description: Though his prized gnomic heritage may have been diluted, he still retains the physical benefits of his species. Due to his unique size he has a 10% boost to his Luck stat as enemies find it difficult to precisely aim their attacks at him and he proves more mobile than the average fighter.
----- ((Racial Strength: This is where you put any special powers that your race is capable of. This area is where your character truly comes alive. Things such as flight, shape shifting, or anything else your race can do is put here. This strength will be heavily scrutinized to ensure balance.)
—Racial Strength Name: The Trash Man —Description: Jerome's very essence is trash. The splicing was performed with such care and skill that he's forever been tainted by it on all levels, whether they be physical or metaphysical, whether they be viewed by his fellow gnomes or by complete strangers to him and his race. Whenever Jerome enters a fight a 100 number Randomizer will be rolled for each enemy. If it lands on one specific designated number then the sheer stench of trash and his own pitiable presence will overwhelm the enemy regardless of who or what they are and they'll be forced to flee the battlefield. If the enemy is a boss then they will instead ignore him for the next three turns out of the desire to avoid acknowledging his existence; thanks to this all attack-based/offensive skills for those next three turns will automatically fail to hit him due to the enemy simply not targeting him at all. (Note: This applies to AoE skills as well.)
Weaknesses:
—Weakness Name: The Pain In Our Hearts —Description: Jerome is a very fragile person whose only emotional strength comes from having already been broken so many times over. With this in mind it's no wonder that he's very easily influenced. All mental Ailments have an extra 15% chance of success against him.
—Weakness Name: Clumsy —Description: While it's harder for the enemy to hit Jerome due to his small size, the same goes for him hitting them... albeit for different reasons. As a natural klutz he'll stumble over his feet constantly and each attack he throws will prove sluggish, shoddy, and skill-less. Thanks to this problem of his he'll always have an extra 10% miss chance when attacking an enemy and in PvP he'll prove rather easily conquerable.
—Weakness Name: Waste of Flesh —Description: Really Jerome is just awful in all regards. He takes a 5% penalty to all his stats (excluding PEnd, MEnd, and Luck) and may only do work threads once every three weeks (as opposed to every two) due to having difficulty finding anyone willing to give him the time of day.
----- ((Racial Weakness: If you take a Racial Strength, you are required to take a racial weakness. This weakness must tie into your racial Strength and will be looked over just as heavily.)
—Racial Weakness Name: Dumpster Gnome —Description: Jerome is recognized by all for what he is and he's reviled for it. On an instinctual level, all creatures recognize him as irredeemable and because of this friends are few and far between. Jerome may never negotiate with enemies and if he tries to it simply counts as him doing nothing for the turn. He'll have to rely on his friends to stick up for him... sadly, at least for the moment, he doesn't have any.
Genetic Weapon: ((This is a Weapon and a born from your unstable genetics. You're splicing has had some... unforeseen consequences thanks as a result of being linked to the Collective unconscious, and has further mutated into a weapon. Like Demon/Shadow weapons, this Genetic Weapon can have it's own consciousness should you choose. If so, make a note of it in your Genetic Weapon description. Unlike Soulbound Weapons, this Genetic Weapon cannot be summoned and will always remain active, meaning you'll have to keep it on you at all times.))
Weapon Name: Garbage Gloves Weapon Description: A pair of trashy mittens that are a perfect fit for Jerome's small hands. They're melded to his skin much like the Trashlord genes themselves, so he has to get in close to damage targets, assaulting them with slaps and the uncleanness of body and soul that pervades him as a person. Weapon Image: Weapon Attack Type: Strike Weapon Element: (Leave this blank. Only special weapons obtain an element behind its blows.)
Side-Arm Weapon:
Side-Arm Name: Escape Route Side-Arm Description: A simple silver revolver. Nothing more and nothing less. Side-Arm Image: Just look up one on Google Images. Side-Arm Attack Type: Gun Side-Arm Style: Revolver - Single Shot - Accuracy is increased by 20%. Consumes only one type of ammo per use. Can shoot only one enemy at a time.
The Background
History: The gnomes of Iamongtosih were the dominant species on their planet and were a proud one at that. Unhealthily obsessed with concepts of tradition and purity, they reigned supreme as nobles and god-kings of the land, tiny as they were tyrannical. There was only one threat to the gnomes and it was the strange species known as Trashlords -- amalgamations of garbage and waste come from parts unknown. Some theorized that the Trashlords were the products of spirits possessing bundles of waste, others suggested that they were perhaps merely a race which coincidentally resembled the containers and bags used by the gnomic peoples to contain their waste, but regardless all agreed that they were an issue for their uncompromising and filthy ways. The Trashlords displayed no signs of higher intelligence or sapience: they simply killed and rampaged without any display of emotion and sought to bury the great houses and the empire as a whole beneath a wave of grime.
These efforts, however, continually failed. This was something Jerome observed for himself as the son of a greatly influential noble and a decorated soldier in the war against the Trashlords. The enemies once cast in a monstrous and formidable light gradually became laughingstocks and by the time Junction had warped to the kingdom they were nothing more than a punchline. Some gnomes had even begun to study and domesticate them and, mocked by their peers, were eager to share their findings concerning the creatures with the denizens of the strange city. As an honor guard, Jerome and his friends were dispatched alongside these gnomes, and one night during a poker game he made a bet with high stakes: if he lost the game then he'd take up this "splicing" thing and become half-Trashlord. When he lost the game miserably he waltzed unconcerned into the laboratory and paid for the treatment figuring that he'd simply get it removed shortly after. However, the sudden boom in popularity that splicing experienced was unexpected, and soon the meager sum of money he had was nowhere near enough to pay for any sort of removal process. He was forsaken by his family for being foolish enough to stoop to such a low and was rejected by his people, even his friends, as he found himself all alone with only his newfound stench present to keep himself company.
After deciding to stay in Junction for fear of further social isolation, Jerome hasn't found much luck. He sleeps in a dumpster in the Commercial Ward out of fear of getting beaten up should he go down to the Lower Ward. All the kids call him a "Dumpster Gnome" and every day he regrets his decision, his only remaining mission in life being to serve as a cautionary tale against idle and overly-eager gene-splicing.
