A Seed Philosophy [Lui Sato/Gabe Gatsby] Empty
PostSubject: A Seed Philosophy [Lui Sato/Gabe Gatsby]   A Seed Philosophy [Lui Sato/Gabe Gatsby] EmptyMon Mar 05, 2018 7:48 pm

Ever since that magical pumpkin seed was sowed into the ground and created something pretty amazing, Gabe was more inclined to go to gardening classes in order to further build the skill. As a matter of fact, by paying for a patch of land at the area, he was free to grow whatever he wished. It would be better in order to ask Frey to help him, but there were some things that Gabe wanted to do on his own.

Either way, there was an open house that invited people of all ages to check out class, as well as find out if they wanted to invest in it or check it out. Gabe himself reached out to a few people in order to bolster it's therapeutic benefits, even reaching out to Lui. He wondered if Lui would even come? All Gabe said was that he had something interesting to show him.

"Something special?"
No indication of what he had found, no confirming it was dangerous or simply something unique. All Gabe told him was that he had something to show him that would pique his interest. After the recent tormenting thoughts he's been having about joining Skelter and the whole Invidia affair, Lui could use a distraction. If it was with Gabe, they would at least have each other to talk to. Gabe seemed to share a connection with Lui's way of thinking. Both had their own philosophies on life, not precisely the same but close enough to understand each other. Maybe there would be more to learn from Gabe outside of his job at the Lucky Clover.

Sure enough, Lui located the place Gabe hopefully would have mentioned to him. Walking along the Garden Path, the gardening classes announcement soon reach Lui as he found his way over to the plots of land, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes from the night before with a yawn. He saw Gabe among the crowds and shuffled over to where he was, hands in his pockets and a bored but interested glance at the scene around him.

"So this is the 'something special' you brought up earlier, Gabe? Gardening classes? Well, it's cool to see you out and about outside of the casino. So then, what are you planning on planting?"

"Oh, Lui, you actually came. I was starting to think that something like this wouldn't pique your interest. However, it was definitely something that I deemed worthy of your time., As you can see, we have somewhat of a crowd today. However, it's a bit spread out from visitors just checking the place out for the first time, and people who already come here with their own patch of land. " Gabe would then call Lui over to a specific spot in the corner of the greenhouse that had his name and a specific serial number. It was a small walk, but it was a section of plants that Gabe could claim as his own. So far, only one thing was growing. It was hard to tell what it was since it was still in the ground, but progress was being made.

"Tell me, Lui, what do you know about gardening off the top of your head?"

Lui wasn't one to turn down new possibilities for a hobby; anything to enhance the skills he had would certainly be worth time to sink into, though no other activity got quite the training regime as fencing did. Gardening wouldn't be so bad as a side gig. It would be like a less attentive pet; you feed it, let it see some sun, and check up on it from time to time. Pets obviously require more attention than that, as evidenced by just how often Sumi takes Tater out of his cage just for him to roll around the house in his little blue ball. It could be a peaceful pastime between school, club, and the dangers of the night, especially if Gabe was open to hanging out.

With a short walk to Gabe's space, Lui tapped the dirt around the plants to see how damp it was before responding.

"You'd be surprised what can keep my interest. Gardening's a quiet little activity to let some frustrations go, kind of like having a pet that doesn't need as much time to play ball. What do you have growing right now?

Gardening off the top of my head? I mean, I know about watering, pest control, trimming, stuff like that. Then there's the fact that plants have the seasons they grow best in, levels of sunlight, rotating crops for nutrients... honestly, I could list dozens of terms that go with gardening, but I have very little experience with actual gardening. But hey, I'm a fast learner. We can probably pick this up in no time."

"No, nothing like a pet. The thing about a pet is the animations that it brings about with every interaction that you have with it. A pet is something that maybe you bought at a pet store, or may be found somewhere in the street. The difference is the start or the actual beginning of the relationship. The thing about gardening is that the seeds itself that you take the time to invest in is dependent on the attentiveness you are willing to spare. The dependency changes once they bear fruit and nourishment, then cycle then repeats itself. Even today, this skill of managing produce is reflected upon our supermarkets and food stalls, a skill we get to learn for free and practice at our leisure here. "

Ducking down, Gabe would reach over to a watering pot and pour a few droplets on the plant.

"Growth is linked to patience, either for yourself or others. From what I've seen, being a captain for the fencing team involves such a quality. This is probably a way to build that sort of quality when engrossed with an environment that involves working with people. I also invest the time into gardening because I wouldn't want to forget. Not necessarily the skill, but the meaning behind it."

While Gabe had a point at picking apart Lui's comment, it wasn't meant to be accurate. It was just a little joke; nobody was going to be taking a potato plant on a walk without tearing their hard work out of the ground. Maybe it wasn't funny enough to be considered a joke. Maybe Lui's tone made it sound like a real observation. There was nothing more to do except keep listening until Gabe took a breath for Lui to speak. Lui glanced at the time on his phone and decided his next words carefully.

"Okay, okay, it was just a joke. You do have a point with plant care concerns; the more it grows, the more problems you have to watch for. At the same time, I guess it loses a few problems as it sets roots down to grow and produce. Patience is part of being a captain, sure, but there's plenty more I find more important than patience when it comes to training the others, such as understanding the strengths and weaknesses of your students as well as yourself... is class starting sometime soon?"

Oh......" Gabe would then try to laugh it off a bit, realizing that his seriousness may have gone a little off of the deep hand and possibly made Lui uncomfortable. He didn't mean to do that, it only tends to happen when his mind wanders. "I didn't mean to go off like that. To be honest with you, i don't know what came over me. Also, the start of the free class should begin momentarily. Since it's a free class, everyone would be getting a complimentary pot. Another reason why i called you here is that you could use a small section of my bed in order to do it if you like? If that helps hold your interest, we would be sharing until you maybe feel interested in having one of your own. "

As a bit more people started to gather, Gabe dusted his hands off and wiggled his gardening gloves. "How are you so far? How is everything?"

Maybe it would have been better for Lui to just run with it instead of bringing up Gabe's path off on a tangent. Lui didn't want Gabe to meditate too long on the issue, seeing how Gabe was already giving the laugh and hair toss known as the signature for an awkward stop in conversation. With the conversation quickly changing back to the class ,Lui would have to brush it off.

"Happens to the best of us, Gabe. I'm guilty of the same at times. So they're actually letting us take a pot home? Hopefully it comes with a plant in it; I might have to take up your offer on using the planter box otherwise. Soon as I can get another payment from the Dojo, I'll be sure to grab my own.

Things are kind of a mixed bag with me. On one end, business is picking up nicely with the club, partially in thanks to you. On another hand... my sister's joined the Cadets. I tried arguing tooth and nail against it, but once she set her mind to it, there wasn't anything I could say to stop her. Now I have to worry about her coming back to the house in one piece every night. Have you heard all the business going on in the House of Cards?"

"Thanks to me? Really? I mean, I'm no expert. The only thing that I may have offered was the versatility of the sport that plenty of people of all ages could try. By breaking through the age, and possibly the gender gap, filling the ranks of people should be an easy feat. That also shows the versatility of your ability to teach, so you should be very proud of yourself as well Lui. "

Folding his arms, Gabe would hum to himself when Lui mentioned that his sister joined the cadets. "Someone her age doing something so dangerous? Wouldn't fighting terrorists be a job for adults? At the very least, I commend her bravery. "

As for the house of cards, Gabe shook his head. "I heard it was shut down indefinitely. Unfortunately, that's common information and no one else knows anything about that. I don't suppose you do, huh Lui?"

Gabe let Lui ponder that as the staff of the garden house brought around a few seeds for them to try. They had carrots, cucumbers, celery, and a few other assortments. They also had cherry seeds, which Gabe reached over for.

"Ahh, this seems perfect for a potted plant, don't you think? It would be a small bush of cherries if you take care of it right, but I never had experience with it before. I did a pumpkin though..."
