| You'd think that after living in Junction for a little bit more than a year, Ria would've explored a bit more outside of the slums than she actually had. She did of course leave the area every now and again, if only making brief visits. The Middle Ward was perhaps the one ward that shared the most qualities with that of her own home. Somewhat techy, not too rich or poor, and the people were of course everywhere. The similarities were almost eerie in a way. The only major difference was the architecture and well, the vast quantities of aliens. Then again, back on Athara, said aliens were probably replaced with various automatons. Ria was hardly a rarity on her planet, as artifice and engineering was valued amongst the people there, and with good reason. Machines were efficient, sometimes even pretty to look at. Especially the more esoteric designs of the magocrat artificers of the Magistrate's upper circles. Brass was a commonly used coating for their designs, giving them an almost godly sheen and beauty. Ria was far from any of that. The gray ceramic xenometal she was made of looked far less pretty, even if it was much more durable. She... somewhat envied her brass-coated siblings because of this. Ah, what memories these trips to the middle wards brought back to the surface. All the more reason to stay away...
But today was a different matter altogether. She couldn't just sit here in the slums all day, even if that's what she wanted to do. There was still so much of this plane of existence left to explore, and today... Ria didn't really have anything to do at all. Her body wasn't in need of maintenence, nor was there anything else in need of doing. No repair work for the neighbours... Nothing of the sort. So now she really had no excuse to stay here in these dark, damp and depressing conditions. It was time to take a trip back to the middle district. She slowly made her way there, not really bothering with answering any questions people had on her way. She was well known for wanting to stay within the slums, so her leaving it for something was rather unusual. "It's quite frankly none of your buissness. Buzz off." She snarled at one of her more persistent stragglers. "What I'm doing with my time is none of your concern. I don't think I need to repeat myself one more time." She certainly hoped not. Luckily for her patience, she made it to the edge of the slums rather quickly, leaving them behind for now for greener pastures, as it were.
And the Middle ward was just the same as she had left it all these weeks ago. People still gave her suspicious looks, coming from the slums and whatnot, but Ria had at this point learned it was just something to not bother with. That's what happened when you hung around in an area known for it's ruffians and thieves. Not that Rianara was anything like them, but the townsfolk here had no way of knowing. She almost instantly regretted coming here in the first place, but... There was no turning back now. Ria was commited to this, and thus, she had to deal with it. Walking at a brisk pace past a group of people, the android's blue eyes was scanning the surroundings for someplace quiet where she could get a rest from all the commotion. This club, bar or whatever the hell it was, wasn't really the first place she'd look, but from what the android could see from the outside, the place seemed to be rather empty. Opening the door, Rianara walked inside, tracing around the room with her eyes... There were only a few people here. 6 people at most, if not one or two more that was just hiding somewhere, like the bathrooms or what have you. She quickly found an empty table, where she sat down, trying to calm down a bit... This had been way more stress-inducing than she had anticipated, but hopefully it would be worth it once most of the traffic outside died out. | |
