| ----------------- Breakfast----------------- The morning sun was another constant reminder of the incoming day. The sound of the sink running and the water boiling flooded the the kitchen. It was accompanied with the cacophony of scratching metal as someone was sharpening a knife. Edward had been making his preparations for this day. The restaurant was open, but there was nobody in just yet. Not many were early birds, but it was about time for the first few to begin trickling in. He set the knives aside and peeked out of the serving window to check who was coming in or not. It was a large wooden opening and threshold, allowing customers to be greeted with the view of a nice and tidy kitchen. | |

| She rarely did things like this, but today was one of the few days she didn't have anything planned. She honestly didn't notice she had no plans until she noticed she was walking home yesterday from school with no friends. She had even put on her phone's calendar to try and find something to do today and nothing... So, she decided to be a little adventurous and visit a restaurant she had heard a little about.
Little was an understatement as one of her friends simply texted her it was a nice spot to eat at... And so she went with nothing else in plan aside from hopefully meeting new people and eating something delicious. She'd step into the restaurant with a slight bit of hesitation, eyeing around the place with mild confusion. Was this place even open? Or was she just... This unnaturally early? With a small hum, she'd raise her voice to hopefully catch someone's attention.
"Hello? Is anyone here?" she'd call out with a hint of curiosity to her voice. Was she really alone here? Hm... | |

| Edward didn't have to wait for long as a customer finally made her entrance. It looked like she was alone, but there were others that would soon follow. If he wanted to be on track and not get overwhelmed, now was the time to get some work done. "Tell me what you want. I can make it." He pointed towards a stack of closed flyers at the nearest table that she could take a seat at. The chef looked ready to get started, and all that was needed was her preference. Fox had some impressive knowledge in the culinary arts, so the girl was more or less in good hands. | |

| Ah, so there was a worker here. She'd smile politely at him before walking towards the table he pointed at. She'd look up as she watched other customers walk in every now and again. She seemed to have come at a rather opportune time. Good. This would prove a rather nice morning then. She'd look at the small flyer with a small hum escaping her. She didn't know what to choose, honestly...
"Hm... Everything looks so good... I'm curious, what would you recommend if I asked for something mostly bitter?" she'd ask with a small tilt to her head. Some girls at her school had been talking about more bitter foods being the new 'in' thing. She thought she might as well try something like that before deciding if it was a fad she was willing to get into. It could even inspire some inspiration in her art... How would one represent what bitter looked like?
"Is there even a bitter breakfast dish? Hm... That sounds quite odd, I must say. I'm sorry if this causes you to be put in a strange predicament." she'd say with a hint of concern in her voice. She clearly didn't want to bother the chef too much but she also really wanted to try these elusive fad meals... | |

| It seemed rather odd that someone wanted a dish of that specific taste. But since she didn't really specify the style of cuisine, Edward has all the freedom he has to do his job. Bitter food usually was avoided by many people for savory or even sweet flavors. It was rather odd that someone would go for this, but he didn't complain. "It's fine. I'll make you Kǔguā mèn jī. Wait there."He retreated back inside his kitchen, leaving his customer alone momentarily. The sound of movement could be heard, filling the space with the precise and quick chops of knives, the stirring of his ladles, and the breath of flames igniting. Before Susan knew it, Edward finally handed the dish to her. "Here's your Kǔguā mèn jī. Thanks for waiting, enjoy."It was a dish of braised chicken with bitter melon. It looked reasonably appetizing to eat with that obviously Chinese dish appearance. The chef waited for her to try it, ready to hear any complaints or anything for that matter. | |

| So, he did have a dish in mind? Splendid! She honestly didn't even know why such an odd taste would be a fad... But, she wanted to try it for herself to see if it was worth wild. She'd wait patiently as he went about cooking, texting her friends in the meanwhile about her meal. They seemed excited about it, so it pumped her up to be a little more eager for this meal.
"Oh wow...! It smells so nice! You really made this?" she'd ask with wide eyes, eager to hear his response. She acknowledged food as its own form of art. Something she couldn't do even if she tried! The techniques required for making elaborate and beautiful dishes were beyond her expertise even if she applied herself. She'd rather stay at the canvas, personally.
She'd eagerly take a bite, not ready for the flood of flavors that came with it. She honestly couldn't believe it. So, this was bitter food? It was better than she thought! The chicken was savory and added enough of a balance to the harsh bitterness the melon gave off. It was like a harmony of opposing forces.
"Oh goodness, this is fantastic! How'd you make something so delicious? Ah, I'm going to recommend this to my friends for sure." she'd say cheerily, eagerly taking another bite after. Honestly, she hadn't expected such an amazing result in such a strange dish. The Chinese sure were a strange bunch to come up with a dish like this... | |
