| Quintillis 24th Early Morning, Chavarot, Gabriel's Home."Dear Madame Sophie. It's with deep regret that I send you this letter. It seems that a conflict with the Delaunay is unavoidable... Jean just won't see reason, and his allies blindly follow his lead. You know what he wants, and the powers he serve. If he's not stopped, I'm afraid Chavarot isn't the only place that will suffer the consequences... All of France will be affected by this, and it's not for the better, I fear... His Eminence, Clement the Fourth, has ordered me to gather my allies and friends to stop Jean Delaunay and his cohorts at Courter Prairie on the 17th of Sextillis... I hope to see you there. Meet me in Chavarot as early as you can. I've already contacted the rest of our allies all across france. They will have the potential and they will hopefully rise to the task. Make sure to come here descreetly... I'll tell you the rest of the details once you arrive.
Best Wishes - Gabriel Lavigne."Plot Synopsis:The Fate of Chavarot takes place in the smaller city of Chavarot, located in southern France, during the year of 1346, as a prologue chapter to another plot coming further on. The story itself is about the first, documented Persona Users in Europe, and their conflict with the Nyarlathotep Children. What you see above is a letter from Gabriel Lavigne, the Wild Card of Philemon, sent to one of his friends, Sophie, whom lives in a neighbouring town not too far away from Chavarot by today's standards.
In this city, there are two, major families which basically owns everything there. The Lavigne Family, as well as the Delaunay household. Both families used to get along rather well in the past, and worked together to make sure that the inhabitants lead peaceful and happy lives. But their relationship with eachother has only grown more bitter over the years, as both families think their own ideals suit the city better than the other's. As a result, a toxic rivalry between the two families have risen, and it's torn the populace apart... those that support the Lavigne, and those that support the Delaunay. Their reach stretches far beyond the city walls, and it's this rivalry that has piqued the interest of both Nyarlathotep and Philemon respectively. The Crawling Chaos, seeing the lust for power and forceful nature of the current heir to the Delaunay name, Jean, decided to use him as a tool to enact his plans of destroying humanity, piece by piece. Philemon, on the other hand, chose Gabriel as his Champion... While no actual, desctructive conflict has risen between the two heirs yet, it's a very sensitive situation that could blow up at any moments notice. This tale will cover the last couple of weeks in Chavarot's history before the big battle on Courter Prairie. Both sides are contacting those with a confirmed potential all over france to take part in this battle, as both sides are well aware of their loyalties, and the significance this battle holds.
Of course, the Papacy has taken great interest in this conflict, and while they do support the Lavigne Family on a surface level, they have no interests in letting either side rule the city, as they fear that Chavarot's people may turn against the Papacy. As such, the current pope has sent his very own men to the area, being Angel Summoners. They are there to ensure that the pope's influence remains solid, despite what's going on there. And there's another force at play who's intentions are unknown, but certainly not very friendly...
In this world, wandering outside the gates of the cities is a dangerous task, for the uncultivated lands of Europe are in a constant state of flux... Namely the forests and other unknown pieces of land. Seasons change almost daily, and an evil corruption spreads across the land. The animals and anything else living within these areas are affected greatly by this corruption, turning into feral monsters known as Shadows... To step into the forests is like going into another world. People say it's due to the increase of demons, but is that really the case? Is the corruption caused by this other malevolent force? Whatever the case may be, the Papacy and the Citystates are doing whatever they can to stop the spread, and Chavarot is no different... Will the city unite as one to face this threat, or crumble beneath it's own Political Problems...? | |
