| "Sakura sweets for sell! Sakura sweets for sale!" The child would cheer happily from the wooden wagon stand he was currently pulling through a small park. A shipment of sakura had just come in the night prior, and with sakura came one of the most unique tastes found on the planet! It was great, and people loved them!
The boy would place the wooden wagon next to an empty bench, sitting on the bench afterwards and pulling out a little bell. He'd gently wave it around, causing it to ding in unison to his happy smile and kind tone of voice as he called out the names of a few of the sakura flavored sweets.
The boy, surprisingly enough, had dyed his hair pink after hearing the sakura had came in. He even put a few hair pins in his hair that resembled the flower, and expertly hid his ears. He was wearing a brown coat that seemed a little too baggy on him, as well as a pair of gloves. He seemed happy as he went about his business, selling sweets too passing park goers.

| Ever since Batilde had transferred over to Seven Stars, and thus moved to Endymion, Sunlake Palms had been one of her favorite parts of the city. East Eden sure was calm and relaxing, but the remoteness of everything there made it a little bit dull at times. And Suzie Q or Vista Square were sometimes a bit stressful, even though they provided a lot more entertainment than East Eden. Sunlake Palms was in that way a middleground of sorts between a busy city and a peaceful countryside, being more of a charming rural area.
But that wasn't the biggest reason why Batilde liked Sunlake Palms so much. It was moreso the people and the overall atmosphere of the place that made her feel at ease. Perhaps it was just the fact that small-time, family run buissnesses were more common here than anywhere else that made it a paticularly pleasant place to visit. Everyone were just so polite and happy, that it rubbed off on the french lass as she cheerfully strolled down the streets, stopping every now and again to take a peek inside some shop or café that caught her interest before moving on. Despite it being a less busy place in the city, there were plenty of things to do here. You just had to know where to look.
Around lunchtime, after eating a bit from her home-made sandwich, Batilde was eager for something sweet to chew on, and as such, she stood up from her seat on the bench, closed the lid on the small, plastic box, stuffing it in her fancy handbag, before wandering off again, this time looking for something to satisfy her sugartooth. And would you look at that... How convenient. A boy not much younger than herself (perhaps 3 years or so, if not a little more), were selling something he called "Sakura Sweets". Was he working for his family? And he had colored his hair pink, just like the sweets he were selling. That was absolutely adorable! She couldn't resist going up and talking to him at the very least.
"Excusez-moi, le gamin!" Batilde called out in french, moreso out of habit than anything else, as she approached the boy. "You're selling sweets, non? I'd like three of them, s'il vous plaît... I mean, Please." The lass opened up her handbag, and took out her wallet, eagerly waiting for an answer.

| The boy's ears would resist the urge to perk up as the boy looked towards the foreign sounding woman. The boy would smile before inwardly sighing. Oh... She sounded just like that one boy... And Gabe... And Callie... And did no one know that there was always different forms of a sweet...? He'd still smile, of course, but he'd gently shake his head.
"Um... Miss, would you mind telling me which sweets you would like to buy...?" the boy would ask with a small laugh. If she were to look closer at the basket, she would see that there was an assortment of different sakura flavored sweets. From cookies, to muffins, to bread, and even pancakes. The assortment was wide and... Asking for just the general 'sweet' made the boy fairly confused.

| Batilde nodded, and took a peek inside the basket, only to see a wide variety of cherry flavored, baked goods of all shapes and sizes. Cupcakes, cookies, buns, bread, Snack bars, mini-pies, fluffy marshmallow blocks.... the list went on and on... It was so hard to choose just one... Ah, screw it. "Hrm... It's tough to decide. They all look so delicious!" Batilde replied with a bright smile. Why did this have to be so hard? Couldn't there have been like just three or four different kinds? After a moment spent thinking, she gave up and went for plan B.
"What do you recommend?" She asked the boy in a sheepish tone. Man, this was embarrasing. Of course, if he didn't give her any specific recommendation, she would most likely end up buying one of everything to take with her home... She would still buy a slightly sizable chunk of his stock on her own either way. Helping out such an adorable boy was irresistable. And a devilish marketing tactic made by his parents. Effective too.

| "Mochi, huh...?" Batilde said, curiously picking up one of the small sweets, looking at it with a raised eyebrow. They were so neatly made too. It was almost a shame to ruin such a work of art by eating it. "Hrm... I think I'll take 4 of them then, and a cupcake as well." The girl gave Zavie a warm smile in return, opening her wallet. "So, how much will that be then?"
"Hm? Oh, no. I'm not from here, ma chère." Batilde said with a light chuckle. "Close, but not quite. I'm from france." Not a bad guess. French and Spanish were both part of the same language family, so guessing it wasn't that hard. But still, seeing him so excited about this whole thing was worth the trip here anyway. Batilde never really had a problem with younger kids, so long as they weren't excessively loud or pulled her hair, it was fine. And this kid didn't seem to be THAT young. "So, I guess you're helping out with the family buissness? Oh, and what's your name, by the way? I'm Batilde. Pleased to meet you, ma chère"

| Oh, that was a lot! Well... The boy would quickly take out a small book, flipping through the pages. He wasn't used to doing math like this on the job! It was a good thing he took notes though! The boy would hum for a moment before nodding his head.
"Okay, I got it! Mochi are five dollars each, and a cupcake is four! Soooo... That is nineteen dollars!" the boy would say with a nod of his head. The mochi were pricey due to the limited amount of sakura the bakery actually received. They had to pay for the entire shipment, so it made sense that they'd be a little more expensive.
"Oh oh! My family is from there!" the boy would say with practically sparkling eyes. He had never ever met someone from France! Wait, or was it England... STILL! It was somewhere from Europe and that was so super exciting!
"Uh huh! My parents own a bakery in Little Tokyo. They actually have a wagon of their own... They should be around here somewhere, but I got a little lost when I got close to this park. But I have my cellphone so once I am done here I will find them quickly!" the boy would say with an eager smile. He was having fun being away from them... They were actually quite scared about him leaving the house without a hat... But the hair clips were so big that they hid his ears even when they were up and alert! Well, kind of...
"My name is Zavie Bryce of the Heartfelt Bakery! It is a pleasure to meet you!" the boy would say with a happy smile. He liked meeting nice people like this. It put a smile on his face and a warm feeling across his mind! Except where Proxy was at. She was always never happy.
"I am unhappy for a good reason, vassal. This woman just asked for your name! She could very well be an enemy. Why you so willingly give away information about yourself is beyond me..." the shadow would whisper in the boy's mind, him not really listening to the nay saying. He preferred to imagine everyone not being an enemy... Or, at least for right now.

| "Alright then. Hold on a second." Batilde replied with a smile, and picked up two 10 dollar bills from her wallet. "There you go, dear. And don't worry, you can keep the change." She just felt like helping the kid out a little bit. And besides, paying one more dollar wasn't gonna hurt her budget in the slightest.
"Hoh? Oh, that's nice." Batilde replied cheerfully, as she waited for the little boy to give her the bag containing her purchase. Of course, she wasn't going to eat them all straight away. She was planning on saving a few for her host family back in East Eden.
"Hihi, I'm sure they're proud of their little boy." Batilde replied happily, sitting down next to Zavie on a bench. "Do you help out your parents often?" She asked, munching on one of the mochi balls. Her eyes widened with delight as she took her first bite. "Oh mon Dieu! These are incredible!" She had never actually tried something like this before... And now she regretted not trying Mochi out when she was offered one back when she was a child... But perhaps she wouldn't have liked it back then.
He was just such a happy kid, it was almost infectious. Seeing him smile like that brought a smile to Batilde's own lips. "Mind if I stay here with you for a bit? I have some time to kill before I need to go."

| Yes! A successful sell! What feeling could out weigh the one of selling goods you made with your very own hands? It meant someone wanted them! It meant someone was taking a piece of your hard work and dignity and enjoying it! It was the greatest feeling the boy loved to experience, well, aside from being loved by his parents and his cats! But still, this was pretty fantastic!
"Thank you for your patronage!" the boy would say cheerily after receiving the money. He'd carefully put it in a small, but rather pink box before handing the bag of goodies to the girl. It was great! Hopefully she enjoyed it as much as he did!
"Oh, of course! I am a Bryce after all! Baking is practically in our blood! I love to help out when I am not doing school, you know! I work at the register and in the mornings I help bake!" the boy would say with a happy smile. He was always happy to talk about his work at the bakery! It was an amazing thing, in his mind. Plus, kids his age didn't really work like he did! Or, at least Callie didn't... Though, Callie didn't do anything a normal kid did, so she was an awful example to use, in his mind."E-Eh!? You want to sit with me?" The boy would ask in a confused voice. He didn't really mind, no, of course not! But to be asked to be sat with by a pretty girl was really weird! He wouldn't care if it was Callie, but she already fell into his room, so he didn't really mind her doing anything with him... But a complete stranger? So strange...
Proxy gave her usual warnings, though, a less serious tone than she usually gave. It was one of boredom and one that screamed 'been here done that.' Zavie didn't mind, he rarely fallowed through with her advice regardless... But, it'd still be good to be cautious.
"U-Um, sure! I do not mind!" he would say with a blushed face and a cute smile. She didn't exactly say sit with... Buuuut she wasn't just going to stand there all willy nilly for who knows how long!

| "You're welcome!" Batilde replied with a light smile. His overall cheeriness was incredibly infectious, and as such, it was difficult for Batilde to not smile, if she had wanted to (which she didn't). "Ooooh, the register. I bet your parents are proud of you!" Batilde replied, impressed at how diligent the young boy was. Almost reminded Batilde a little bit of herself when she was his age.
"Mhm! If that's okay, that is." Batilde replied, sitting down next to the little baker, looking curiously at him. Why was he so... flustered? "Um... Are you okay? Your face is really red." She asked with a mild hint of concern present in her voice. Had she said something wrong?

| She was being so nice, it was kind of strange... Or, it was strange to have someone be so nice and sit next to him like this! He felt all flustered and he didn't even know why! It was like he was embarrassed that someone would tease him or something, but he had no idea why! His confusion caused Proxy to laugh delightfully though, a glimmer coming from the bead chain tied in the boy's hair. The laughing only led him to be more confused... This was so confusing!
"T-They are! I work really hard and they are always happy with my work!" the boy would say with enthusiasm. Still flustered, of course. But it made things better than to not focus on her. Every time he did, he felt all embarrassed! Mmmmn...
"A-Ah! No, I am fine! I just, uhm... Er... Y-You just look really pretty, I think! Yeah! D-Do not tell Callie! Eep..." the boy would ramble out with all the confusion of the world. It was like he was reading something a crazy man in jail wrote and then got it published in Africa, then had it translated to Japanese, then French, then Hindi and then finally re-translated in English! Or, something like that...

| Batilde smiled warmly back at the young boy. "Hehe. I take it you're the next in line to take over the shop once your parents retire, then?" Walking in the footsteps of his own parents and so eagerly too... and for such a simplistic, yet wonderful job. Batilde was a little bit envious of his enthusiasm. Her future didn't look as bright and cheerful, being the heir to a large oil company and whatnot. There was a lot more weight on her shoulders, which honestly, the girl wasn't sure on if she could handle. Sure, her parents had prepared her for that day as best they could, but still. Some part of her felt like she wouldn't be enough.
Now it was Batilde's turn to blush a little bit. Moreso out of suprise that a young kid like him would be so open about it. At least he was more direct than that Takeru, who had tried so hard to impress her... and he had failed. Zavie, on the other hand, was much more innocent looking, and less creepy. "M-Merci beaucoup, Zavie! That's 'thank you very much' in french." Batilde replied with a sheepish grin on her face, giggling a little bit. Gosh, wasn't he the most adorable little kid she had met in her entire life? His parents must be quite good at being parents, if their son was this nice and honest. Or perhaps he had preserved most of the innocence from his very early childhood somehow...

| The boy would sigh, it felt better to get that all off his chest! He didn't really know why he got s flustered in the first place, but after releasing it all, he was back to his cheery happy self again! Well, he was cheery before just more confused...
"I am, yes! I am super excited too! I can not wait until I am the best baker ever!" the boy would say with an eager smile. It was quite the boastful claim, but he absolutely adored baking and he was super good at it! It was his passion, after all. What more could you ask of a kid his age other than to strive for his dreams?
"U-Um... Y-You are welcome!" the boy would say in response to the thank you in French. He didn't really understand why she said thanks... But, it made him blush again. Though, he didn't feel all confused like he did before. He just blushed... It was kind of nice being thanked for saying someone was pretty.

| "Hehe, that's the spirit! Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise!" Batilde replied encouragingly, giving the boy a warm smile in return. He really was a rather precious little boy, and his parents were blessed when they got him. Either that, or they were exceptionally good at raising kids. Either way, she wouldn't mind visiting the actual shop one day... Maybe she could meet his parents as well. That'd be nice. "So, where did you say the bakery was? You got yourself a new loyal customer!"
And there he was with the blushing again. Golly, how could someone get away with being this adorable? Batilde just wanted to give him lots of hugs, but... she restrained herself. Not the right moment for that, if there would even be one like those... "You're so adorable! Like a nice little brother that I never had." Batilde said with a light chuckle. Yeah, today was a good day.

| He'd smile in response. He really believed he'd be able to become the best baker ever! Maybe he could leave Endymion one day and open up a bakery somewhere far away. That would be nice! Maybe somewhere where people wouldn't take him away because... He'd brush those thoughts aside. It was too happy of a moment to spoil them with such unpleasantries.
"The Heartfelt Bakery is located in the shopping district in Little Tokyo! We have a sign and everything! It is hard to miss, promise!" the boy would say cheerily. Awesome! That meant he could look forward to talking to her again! Plus, it meant someone nice and interesting would stop by the bakery more than once! Neat neat!
"E-Eh? Little brother? A-Adorable? N-Nani?" the boy would stutter. That was a lot to process. Well, he knew he was adorable... But, whenever he was told he was cute or something it still embarrassed him! How could it not!? But, being called a little brother was weird. He'd never heard that one before!
