| Today was a different kind of day for Gabe. The Emporium stretch always seems to have a wide arrange of things that a store wouldn't usually have. Not to say that it served as a black market, or maybe it did? If that concept was used, it was the most legal market around, and a great place to search for some forbidden books. "..." Browsing around, Gabe have hoped to obtain something that belonged to his favorite author, Bartholomew Hartley. Those books were really hard to find , but there was a rumor that it was around this area. "Book stores..book stores....." Hartley is a great author, only shrouded by conspiracy nutcases about him being in the occult. But look at Gabe, he read the books and turned out just fine. If anyone was to see Gabe, it would be a look of frustration and impatience. | |

| Stopping by shopping is never a time-consuming task for Brittany. She left a bit earlier from Seven Stars today to make sure she wouldn't be late for the upcoming modeling session, but she honestly felt like stopping by at the Backlight district again. It was slowly becoming one of her favorite places to hang out even though she, prior to her meeting with Jack Valentine, had little to no interest there. Formerly considered a stronghold for nerds due to Arcadia, she later would find out she had more reasons to step on there than the guys she qualified as geeks.
All in all, the Emporium Stretch seemed quite a mall filled with confusion, sounds, smells, people. Perhaps the variety is what enticed people's curiosity and fascination for the place. That said, it would not really be a surprise if the girl spotted a familiar figure among the crowd here and there, and it wouldn't be the first time. Still, the one she found roaming around was far from someone she would take as a mall person.
Gabriel. Something about him evoked a classy, polite, very educated image that hardly would be associated with the more popular backgrounds, like the Backlight District. Perhaps even the most aristocratic fellows need to do shopping now and then, no? Brittany herself didn't seem to notice his mood and looks were irritated, as she approached him slowly...gradually and silently... And should her not be noticed in her stealthy moment, she'd poke from behind his right shoulder twice to make herself noticed, but quickly move to the left shoulder direction. Brittany enjoyed these little, infantile and harmless pranks on the ones she was "close" with. "Hi! Didn't think I'd see you here of all places! Are you lost?"

| The tap on the shoulder, in a just world, would have been met with a dramatic expression from Gabriel with the words , "I'm burning up" under his eyes in purple font. But since this was the real world (whats the difference anyway?), thats not what really happened. On second though, the touch on the shoulder rather frightened Gabriel, he didnt know who it was until he turned around. " Br-br-bru-iittany!!! For christ sake, could give a lad a heart attack you know?. " After touching his face, Gabe noticed that he forgot his glasses once more, for the third time. "Maybe i should invest in contacts, the act of putting anything in my eyes is rather loathsome. But..... back to your question..am i lost?"
Gabe would then look around and sigh. "Im looking for a bookstore, some would call it seedy, but its not like they sell porn. It's..... hard to explaining

| While taken aback at first by his scared reaction for what was supposed be just a harmless, innocent prank, she quickly began laughing at how startled he seemed. "Ahahahaha! Aw, sowwy! I didn't mean to scare you, but you, like, should have seen the look on your face just now!" As if his comeback wasn't hilarious and amusing enough, the mere mention of "porn" made her place one hand over her mouth to restrain further laughter. "Oh, you're that kind of guy? I would never know...but I guess all boys are into this kind of thing, right? Even the quiet ones like you!" | |

| Ahh well i could tell from the look on YOUR FACE, that the look on mine was just as priceless as you say. "Gabe would say as he chuckled and rolled his eyes. " As for being here, i could say the same for you. Is there anything around this area that would interest you even a little? Forgive me if im showing a little doubt, there are a strange batch of individuals you end up running into every now and again. "There are just some people you wouldn't want to run into in the dead of night. Gabe could definitely vouch for such a thing.
"No no! Thats not it, i was just using it as an example, books that aren't exactly illegal but some would raise an eyebrow by knowing one would have them. " Gabe sighed while he tried to explain. "Ever heard of a man named Bartholomew hartley ?

| As to why she was there...hm... That was quite a good question. She was not aware of it until Gabriel highlighted the fact it wasn't like her to step on this district. "I've come to Backlight quite often lately. Twice to the gaming session with a friend, and this is the first time alone. I thought it'd be a nice change of pace for once, you know?" Perhaps it was just as Mike said, the place becoming a hangout for her habits. "Anyway, are you scared? Awww, that's so cuuute! I'll make you company for the time being, to make sure you won't run into any suspicious person, mmkay?" Between giggles, she got one step closer to Gabe, touching his shoulder kindly as a way to show her good intentions. It was quite an amusing thought that a tall, handsome and polite guy could be scared of being alone. Or at least that's how she took it. "No, never heard of him! Who's he?" | |

| So for the second time being here, you didn't necessarily find yourself being alone. Instead, being surrounded by people who care, assuming the person you was with somewhat cares. I can only speak for myself. Does this mean you should count your blessings? If luck was a skill, you have a bright future ahead of you at this rate. " Gabe then looked forward and shifted over to the right of the strip, there was a bookstore a few ways ahead. "That must be it, and the fear of being alone? Hmm.....no... i don't think that's it. I think the bigger question is where that assessment came from, pretty interesting. " Finally, they were getting to the good stuff. " A tragic writer named Bartholomew Hartley. This man wrote a series of ten elongated novels that was highly successful before committing suicide. Rumor has it that it was even worse than "behold a pale horse" and had some sort of mental effects towards people who become engrossed in his literature One of the novels that i enjoyed most of all was called "the devil's greatest trick", which followed gambler that had a continuous game of high stakes in order to get his life back."
Gabe would then look to Brittany. "Do you think that books have that kind of power? That simply reading them would change you?

| She didn't consider herself lucky to begin with. It was more like a matter of coincidence that she run into Jack and Mike the previous occasions. If it was luck, she could take it and eventually try the lottery. "Wow...this sounds quite creepy but interesting at the same time? I've never heard of him. He looks like a mystery-thriller kind of writer, right?" Perhaps one on the level of Agatha Christie or Stephen King. Not that Brittany reads a lot, as much as the activity itself could be entertaining, she enjoys some kind of truly active pastime. Like dancing. "I guess? Books are live a travel inside your mind from someone else's words, right? You can learn a lot from reading." | |

| Hmm, well, maybe you are in luck. I'm going to pick up one of those "learning Materials, as you so called it. I hope you find something you'll like. "Gabe would say as he points to a creepy run down shack. "This is the place, coming?" If she came, Gabe would lead the way and open the door for her, letting her in first. Inside she would see a spooky man ove rhte counter and a numerous amout of shelves hosting books, some with a little dust on them. Welcome To my Humble Abode, the name is Lester. "the man did have a strinkingly strange appearence, but he did recogize one of the two individuals. " Ahh yes, the enthuasist, Gabriel....Whose your friend?" Gabe would nod his head awith a smile and introduce Brittany. "This is Brittany, she was nice enough to accompany me today. It's been two months, i hope you have what i'm looking for. " Lester would laugh to himself and reveal his hand. "Kek, from the occult to forbidden reads, to books that cause... "Contraversy..." I have all your little heart desires, eyer touch of sin to stir whats from within....." The man spoke oddly, maybe a little bit like Gabe, maybe not. Either way, they were free to browse. "What do you think? Anything you like?" Gabe would say to Brittany." | |

| Once she entered the facility, out of Gabriel's courtesy, her eyes were like two wandering globes, checking every corner of said store, every shelf, every...everything. It transpired creepiness all over, and spooky was an understatement. In response to her first impression, she got a bit silent, analytical, even. "Hello! You can, like, call me Brit. I know Brittany sometimes is too long for people, I've heard that a lot actually. So people often prefer to use Brit instead", she smiled to the receptionist. He indeed looked a bit...unique in visual style, to say the least, but she won't judge. The moment Gabriel stepped inside and the man spoke, she slowly got closer to him, going as far as to hold his arm with one hand, almost like any couple would do. She wasn't scared per se, but the vibes all over the place and in the counter man's sentences made her slightly...wary, as wary as her carefree personality would allow. That and she was just the touchy-feely type, anyway. "Hm? Oh, no no, nothing. I'm just...watching. What kinds of books do you have here, Mister?" She had an idea but it's always better to hear the confirmation from the source. | |

| "Spell books, tragic love stories. There is a book that is said to have turned humans into demons by reading them, and it's nothing more than magna comics and magazines, but i have those as well. What else, book about love potions. All sort of strange and rather interesting reads. I even have the brothers grimm original fairytale series. Plenty of things, take a look!" Lester was excited, a new customer that wasn't abusing like Gabe was in terms of his latent obsession about the Hartley literature he likes. " Gabe was moving side by side checking out a particular section of the room, noticing That Britt held onto him. "Oh, i thought you was the more brave one. Getting nervous?" Gabe woiuld say in a teasing tone. | |

| "I'm not scared if that's what you're thinking, shut up!" She rolled her eyes to Gabe, before opening a smile to him, making it clear her tone was more amicable and jesting than an actual reprimand or something in those lines. As for the store attendant... Hm... Spell books were alright. She wasn't truly a fan of witchery to the point she'd buy a book to learn some sorcery. Having the option available was alright, though. As for the tragic love stories...she could buy those. Manga, comics and magazines were nothing special, she could find those everywhere. Books about love potions...eh, she wasn't truly in need of those for the time being. The fairytales, though, triggered her attention. "What do you mean by "original"? And...aren't they, like, books for kids? I dunno, this place doesn't really strike me as a place to bring a kid to buy books. Like, most of the options you listed aren't even for them to read!" In her mind, it didn't really make any sense for this type of store, more focused on occult and dark themes, to sell fairytales... | |

| They are revised to be more children friendly. The fairy tales that you heard all your life. Though, the truth of what happened is alot more gruesome. So yes, the Disney channel has been lying to you for quite some time. " Lester would say with a silly and yet strange laugh. " Hmm..." Gabe stopped searching for a moment as he turned over to the brothers Grimm storybook. " For example, did you know the true story of the little red riding hood? The little mermaid?? The frog prince? Wouldn't you like to know what really happened?" Gabe would say as he opened the book" Op op op, you know you have to be delicate. " Gabe then brushed it off. "It'll be ok Lester, i'll get it for her if something happens by accident." | |

| Her eyes shifted from Gabe to the man named Lester, until she frowned at them, a bit confused. And warier. "What do you mean? Everybody knows what happens in these stories. The Frog Prince, for example, he develops a friendship with a princess who pitied his disgusting appearance and, when he tells her his story, she kisses him. She breaks the spell then, and he turns into a handsome man, they marry and live happily ever after. I can tell, it's my favorite tale!" Was that something to be proud of? Hardly. If you're a grown-up woman, that is. But still, Brittany was fairly okay with boasting her knowledge in fairytales, which was why she found it weird that Lester was so excited with these "true versions of the Grimm stories". | |

| "No...... wrong... its's right nd wrong at the same time. Though, i kind of wonder if you are determined on that verson than any other version. " Gabe looked to lester, when he shrugged as if he gave up, he started to look through the book. " Lets read it together shall we?"
The True Frog Prince Story - Spoiler:
In olden times, when wishing still did some good, there lived a king whose daughters were all beautiful, but the youngest was so beautiful that the sun itself, who, indeed, has seen so much, marveled every time it shone upon her face. In the vicinity of the king's castle there was a large, dark forest, and in this forest, beneath an old linden tree, there was a well. In the heat of the day the princess would go out into the forest and sit on the edge of the cool well. To pass the time she would take a golden ball, throw it into the air, and then catch it. It was her favorite plaything.
Now one day it happened that the princess's golden ball did not fall into her hands, that she held up high, but instead it fell to the ground and rolled right into the water. The princess followed it with her eyes, but the ball disappeared, and the well was so deep that she could not see its bottom. Then she began to cry. She cried louder and louder, and she could not console herself.
As she was thus lamenting, someone called out to her, "What is the matter with you, princess? Your crying would turn a stone to pity."
She looked around to see where the voice was coming from and saw a frog, who had stuck his thick, ugly head out of the water. "Oh, it's you, old water-splasher," she said. "I am crying because my golden ball has fallen into the well."
"Be still and stop crying," answered the frog. I can help you, but what will you give me if I bring back your plaything?"
"Whatever you want, dear frog," she said, "my clothes, my pearls and precious stones, and even the golden crown that I am wearing."
The frog answered, "I do not want your clothes, your pearls and precious stones, nor your golden crown, but if you will love me and accept me as a companion and playmate, and let me sit next to you at your table and eat from your golden plate and drink from your cup and sleep in your bed, if you will promise this to me, then I'll dive down and bring your golden ball back to you."
"Oh, yes," she said, "I promise all of that to you if you will just bring the ball back to me." But she thought, "What is this stupid frog trying to say? He just sits here in the water with his own kind and croaks. He cannot be a companion to a human."
As soon as the frog heard her say "yes" he stuck his head under and dove to the bottom. He paddled back up a short time later with the golden ball in his mouth and threw it onto the grass. The princess was filled with joy when she saw her beautiful plaything once again, picked it up, and ran off.
"Wait, wait," called the frog, "take me along. I cannot run as fast as you." But what did it help him, that he croaked out after her as loudly as he could? She paid no attention to him, but instead hurried home and soon forgot the poor frog, who had to return again to his well.
The next day the princess was sitting at the table with the king and all the people of the court, and was eating from her golden plate when something came creeping up the marble steps: plip, plop, plip, plop. As soon as it reached the top, there came a knock at the door, and a voice called out, "Princess, youngest, open the door for me!"
She ran to see who was outside. She opened the door, and the frog was sitting there. Frightened, she slammed the door shut and returned to the table. The king saw that her heart was pounding and asked, "My child, why are you afraid? Is there a giant outside the door who wants to get you?"
"Oh, no," she answered. "it is a disgusting frog."
"What does the frog want from you?"
"Oh, father dear, yesterday when I was sitting near the well in the forest and playing, my golden ball fell into the water. And because I was crying so much, the frog brought it back, and because he insisted, I promised him that he could be my companion, but I didn't think that he could leave his water. But now he is just outside the door and wants to come in."
Just then there came a second knock at the door, and a voice called out:
Youngest daughter of the king, Open up the door for me, Don't you know what yesterday, You said to me down by the well? Youngest daughter of the king, Open up the door for me. The king said, "What you have promised, you must keep. Go and let the frog in."
She went and opened the door, and the frog hopped in, then followed her up to her chair. He sat there and called out, "Lift me up next to you."
She hesitated, until finally the king commanded her to do it. When the frog was seated next to her he said, "Now push your golden plate closer, so we can eat together."
She did it, but one could see that she did not want to. The frog enjoyed his meal, but for her every bite stuck in her throat. Finally he said, "I have eaten all I want and am tired. Now carry me to your room and make your bed so that we can go to sleep."
The princess began to cry and was afraid of the cold frog and did not dare to even touch him, and yet he was supposed to sleep in her beautiful, clean bed.
The king became angry and said, "You should not despise someone who has helped you in time of need."
She picked him up with two fingers, carried him upstairs, and set him in a corner. As she was lying in bed, he came creeping up to her and said, "I am tired, and I want to sleep as well as you do. Pick me up or I'll tell your father."
With that she became bitterly angry and threw him against the wall with all her might. "Now you will have your peace, you disgusting frog!"
But when he fell down, he was not a frog, but a prince with beautiful friendly eyes. And he was now, according to her father's will, her dear companion and husband. He told her how he had been enchanted by a wicked witch, and that she alone could have rescued him from the well, and that tomorrow they would go together to his kingdom. Then they fell asleep.
The next morning, just as the sun was waking them, a carriage pulled up, drawn by eight horses. They had white ostrich feathers on their heads and were outfitted with chains of gold. At the rear stood the young king's servant, faithful Heinrich. Faithful Heinrich had been so saddened by his master's transformation into a frog that he had had to place three iron bands around his heart to keep it from bursting in grief and sorrow. The carriage was to take the king back to his kingdom. Faithful Heinrich lifted them both inside and took his place at the rear. He was filled with joy over the redemption. After they had gone a short distance, the prince heard a crack from behind, as though something had broken.
He turned around and said, "Heinrich, the carriage is breaking apart."
No, my lord, the carriage it's not, But one of the bands surrounding my heart, That suffered such great pain, When you were sitting in the well, When you were a frog. Once again, and then once again the prince heard a cracking sound and thought that the carriage was breaking apart, but it was the bands springing from faithful Heinrich's heart because his master was now redeemed and happy.
After reading the story and closing the book, Gabe would sigh. "There was no kiss, she was nasty, rude, and cruel. If not for her father, the frog prince would have been alone. She got what she wanted and he was thrown away. His transformation was left with a potential concussion, no... an attempted strike of murdeous intent. Her attempt to kill that frog led to a change. IF she suceeded, maybe he would change back into a dead beautiful prince layng in her bedroom floor. What of it then?! " Gabe...." Lester spoke up and coughed, Gabe seemed to be losing himself and frowned after realizing it. "I'm sorry, i got a litte worked up, my apoligies..."
