The Big Reveal [Plot Event :: Nighttime (2)]

Everything happened so fast. At one moment Athena was texting her parents asking them where she should meet then and a second later madness overtook the entire park as people began fleeing from the collapsing R&D building. She wanted to believe she was dreaming, that soon she was going to wake up in her bed and everything would be normal but no matter how hard the girl wished she couldn't change reality, the detective had spoken the truth and she had failed to assist him with his mission now the city was going to pay the price of her incompetence. Athena tried to run with the crowd, even though she was near the park and was probably safe from the rubble she wanted to get even farther from this catastrophe though nowhere in the entire city could be far enough for her. Still her body wouldn't move no matter how hard she tried, in fact her entire body was frozen with fear and her head felt so hot as if it was on fire.

It was then when the humanoid creature appeared. He looked like a man made out of silver but something inside her made her doubt he was even remotely human. Athena tried to scream but only a whimper came out, she realized that it wasn't her head that felt warm but her eyes as tears began to form around her blurring her vision.


She said though even she was unable to hear her voice in that commotion. The thing standing in frond of her claimed to be a god, she wished she could turn invisible just so he would ignore her, how could a girl like her even hope to overcome such an ordeal? However, just when her hopes had faded away something began to glow from within her coat. It couldn't be her cellphone, she had dropped it seconds ago when the creature appeared. Of course! The tube she had received from the detective, he was undoubtly connected to this whole incident, one way or another, and this tube was a weapon designed to fight creatures like Beldr. She only needed to find the right moment to strike.

The sound of screams.
The smell of death.
The taste of fear.


The ground shook furiously and the world came crashing down. Chaos consumed the area as the building was torn apart by the vibrations and debris fell upon the crowd. In the madness that followed, Miyuki ran. She ran, and ran, and ran. She ran away from the tears, from the destruction, from the death, from the danger. She ran until her feet ached and she could barely breathe any longer. Her mind was focused on one thing and that was survival. It was not a reaction to be unexpected. Humans have always been instinctual creatures. But it was one she would come to regret. Because when Miyuki finally stopped running, when she finally had reached her oasis, she found that she was alone. Her eyes darted around frantically searching for the faces of his parents, but they were nowhere to be found. Her heart pounded fearfully as she desperately tried to find them. Where were they? Where were they? They were right there a second ago. So... so... so...

It was an ironic twist. All day she had wanted to be on her own free from their watchful gaze. But now, the one thing she wanted more than ever was for them to be by her side. Slowly she began to panic as possibility upon possibility raced through her mind. She had to believe they were alive. She had to. They couldn't be dead. They couldn't be dead. They couldn't be dead. They couldn't be dead. She just needed to look more. She'd find them.

The child frantically tried to push her way through the crowd, but that would quickly prove itself to be a poor decision on her part. A metallic, otherworldly figure appeared before her and the rest of the masses. Her fear only grew as the strange, inhuman figure shouted in a booming voice. It proclaimed itself immortal and towered over all of them. At that moment she didn't know what to do. She had never seen such a powerful being before. Part of her wanted to run away, but she was exhausted already and definitely wouldn't be able to muster up the energy. And even if she did leave, what would happen then? How would she find her parents? What if... what if they were here, and that thing decided to kill them?

Miyuki's knees shook. For the first time in a long while, she saw no way to get what she desired. And now everything could be taken away from her. Her friends, her family, her life... If only someone had some means of stopping the figure. But her silent cry for help went unanswered. Nobody came. She was all alone. And now she was going to lose it all. Unable to stand any longer, she collapsed to the ground and broke down into tears. She sobbed as loud as she could and hung her head down staring at the ground. The tears came running down her face and didn't stop. All her life crying had been the solution. If she cried, the pain would go away. She'd get what she wanted. But this time it didn't seem that any amount of wailing would make the problem go away. There was nothing she could do.



The thought raced through the child's mind over and over again. It was all she could think as everything went to hell around her.

Action:

Athena didn't lose sight of the creature, even when everyone else turned to see the child the monster was pointing at she remained still calculating the risks of her bold plan. She was the only one who could battle Beldr and yet she couldn't bring her body to move. A single mistake would cost her life, she wasn't exactly a champion on throwing objects to otherworldly beings and her arms were shaking way too much, still if she chose to do nothing the child would die and she had no guarantee that it wouldn't target her or her family as the next sacrifice. No, Beldr was an abomination and it had to be dealt with, no risk or consequence was grave enough to stop her from trying. The reward was also too high to pass, she was going to become the heroine of the city, how could she turn down such a deal?

She closed her eyes allowing more tears to flow down her pale cheeks clearing her vision. There was no room for mistakes, she was the child's only chance of survival, even without the reward she was most likely going to receive she was bound to at least try to protect him. "Everyone is looking at the woman. Even the monster is ignoring my presence" She thought as she carefully removed the tube from her pocket. "It's not windy, that means I just have to throw it right on him... I can't screw this up." After one final breath the girl prepared herself. It felt as if every sound had died, even time seemed to progress in a slower rate, young Athena knew that this moment would change her life forever. She released a screech as she threw the tube to Beldr, wishing with all her might for it to find it's target.

Action:

K-Kill him?!

Beldr's demand didn't seem to fall on deaf ears. The crowd, save a select few, obeyed the demon's orders without hesitation and came for the life of a child who displeased their new "god." Miyuki's eyes filled with terror as she stumbled up from the ground with tears still streaming down her face. They were really going to do it? They were really going to take his life... the life of another human being? She wanted to shout out at them to stop, but she couldn't muster up the strength to speak. Desperately scanning the area for some way to stop the mass of people, she'd suddenly notice Frogerio through her blurred vision. At first she wasn't sure what he was doing. Why was he trying to walk forward? It took her a few seconds before she realized where (or rather who) he was heading toward.


Whatever his reasons for trying to get to Beldr she knew it wasn't going to end well. This whole situation was looking worse and worse by the moment. But now she knew for a fact that her parents weren't here. The few who defied Beldr's will were in clear sight with the crowd out of the way and they weren't among them. And there was no way they'd try to take the life of that poor kid. She was certain of that. So, with the hesitation fading away from her, she did the only thing she could think to do.


A shoe would fly at the back of Frogerio's head as Miyuki spun around and ran like she had never run before. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted a strange glowing tube in the air, but she paid no mind to it. Escaping was her only concern at the moment. Hopefully the boy would heed her advice and follow in her footsteps.
