| Mary Nichols, the She-Daemon "You call it hope, that fire of fires. It is but agony of desires." - Edgar Allen Poe
The Biography
|
Birth Name: Mynoghra Aliases: Mary Nichols. The Clock Tower Witch. The She-Daemon of the Shadows. Gender: Female Age: Ancient. Currently inhabiting a body which appears to be roughly 30 Birth Day: January 3rd Arcana: Devil Place of Residence: Standasen Island, Lumiere District. A small non-descript house that appears abandoned from the outside. Despite this, the basement of the house (where she lives) is decorated with predominantly Victorian-era furnishings and the door remains locked at all times. Academy Semester: N/A Class:
Sorority: N/A
Part/Full Time Job: She'll do just about anything for money. As a demon, she's content to live in the moment. She's been everything from a whore to a store clerk to a wet-worker. She tends to frequent the criminal underworld, and has a particular liking for delinquent youth (as she finds them particularly corruptible)
Appearance: Mary is, first and foremost, a woman of taste. Her favorite era to have experienced was Victorian England, and she retained a great deal of material wealth from that era. Her clothing, no matter what era she's imitating, tends to be both elegant and flashy. Despite this, she dislikes dresses intensely. Regardless of her attire, she always keeps a bright, vibrant pearl which she received as a gift from one of the few people she once considered a friend. Despite her flair for the elegant, she also has a taste for the authoritative. As such, much of her modern attire consists of three-piece suits In her standard form, she takes on the appearance of a middle-aged woman with shoulder-length white hair. She initially had her heart set on brown, but after a chance encounter with an albino in the 1700s she decided she liked the look. So she took it. Her figure is quite pronounced, as one might expect of a person who gets to essentially hand-pick their physical appearance. She is thin and attractive, traits which help her to attract potential pawns and victims. Essentially, she modeled herself after all the traits that she would find most attractive in a woman. Again, hand-picking your appearance comes with perks. Her demonic form still possesses a certain allure to it, although it makes it understandably hard to capture the type of attention she wants. She actually has a larger bust size in this form, something she's particularly chagrin about (more of a butt girl herself). While other members of her family shed any trace of humanity in their true forms, she is a unique exception. As a being born of shadows with the express purpose of seduction and sabotage, she maintains a mostly human shape in her other form, with one notable exception being writing tentacles in place of hair. Oh, yeah, and the pallid green skin. Although some people might find that attractive. Looking at you, trekkies. She stands an impressive six feet in both forms. In her humanoid form she weighs an average 180 pounds, most of which is muscle. Her demonic form actually weighs less, despite being more of a heavy hitter, clocking in at only 110 pounds.
Personality: Ever since her birth, she has had an intense distaste for humanity. Like her cousin, Nyarlethotep, she believes them to be an inherently destructive race which will eventually tear itself apart. The mere existence of shadows, physical manifestations of the negativity of the human heart, proves that to her whole-sale. She is an incredibly sadistic individual when it comes to humanity, although she notably lacks this trait for those who are not human. She has absolutely no reservations about toying with them, using them, and consuming everything they can offer her. She is certainly not above using torture, intimidation, and even her own body to coerce information out of humans. To this is end, she is, in a way, both omnisexual and asexual. While she is more than willing to use "intimacy" to get what she wants from anyone or anything, she does not actually have any innate sexual desires of her own. She is, at best, tolerant of Nyarlethotep Children. Despite being human, their power comes as an extension of her cousin's. Thus, she feels something of a familial tie to a common cause She has a hard time viewing Velvet Attendants as people at all. To her, they are simply tools created by Philemon to do his bidding. As such, she does not target them unless they make themselves inconvenient (or it benefits her) Finally, as a demon, her hatred of humans is tenfold for those who capture and use demons as slaves and tools. She is, of course, completely oblivious to the hypocrisy of using (and viewing) humans as a sub-species while simultaneously feeling contempt for those who subjugate her own race.

The Potential
|
Strengths:
—Strength Name: Manipulation —Description: She is a skilled manipulator. Aeons of experience with the human psyche have left her in the unique position of being able to seduce, coerce, and intimidate humans into doing what she wants. Despite some limited interaction with them, this expertise does not extend to Velvet Attendants, whom are ostensibly not human.
—Strength Name: Vast Knowledge —Description: There are countless centuries of knowledge and experience backing her actions. While her memory is not remotely encyclopedic, she has interacted with several key figures throughout history. This knowledge is both academic and classical in nature. She knows how to play several instruments well, can paint at a rudimentary level, has been party to several historical battles, and has at one point been a queen (tsk tsk, no spoilers).
—Strength Name: Multi-dimensional Being —Description: As an extradimensional being herself, Mary is aware of the presence of spirits. She cannot sense them. Instead, to her, they would be just as plain as if any other person were in her presence. She is also aware of the presence of the Velvet Door, although somehow she can never seem to actually interact with it. Something about the presence of the door fills her with revulsion (see weaknesses).
----- ((A floating Strength is a strength you've gained inRP. For example, if you were on a Kendo team for some time, you'd naturally know Kendo which is where this strength would come in. However, be aware, it will not be as strong as any of your actual strengths and is a small plus)
—Floating Strength Name: —Description:
Weaknesses:
—Weakness Name: Antisocial Bigot —Description: Mary is quite bigoted towards humanity, as explained in her personality. Even the Nyarlethotep Children, whom she cooperates with out of loyalty to her family, are something of an irritating nuisance to her. She does not play well with others, and might be likely to snap on them or lose focus if they irritate her.
—Weakness Name: Demonic Entity —Description: As a demonic presence, Mary can actually be exercised by a priest or monk. Granted, any priest or monk who has ever actually tried to exercise her has never managed to finish the right without losing limbs. Thankfully, the pearl that she keeps on her at all times anchors her to the physical plane and allows her to return after several hours to the place where her soul knows the most peace. In this case, that's her home in Lumiere. surrounded by trinkets and keepsakes from her time across the centuries. It's worth noting that crosses, prayer beads, and holy water do absolutely nothing to her. Those methods of demon-slaying do not work on demons of her nature. She has to actually be exorcised.
—Weakness Name: Velvet Nausea —Description: Though she can see the Velvet Door, its presence fills her with an intense sense of dread which causes immediate nausea and light-headedness if she draws to close to it. Inevitably, if she remains in the door's presence for too long, or attempts to actually approach the door (say, to ambush a Persona User) she will actually lose consciousness and find herself in some other part of town having wandered there in an unconscious state. Something about Philemon's power over the Velvet Room, and the fact that she isn't welcome there, makes her unable to stand its direct presence.
----- ((A floating weakness is one gained in RP. It could be a fear you inherited during RP, or an injury that hinders your character. Some can be temporary while others can be permanent.)
—Floating Weakness Name: —Description:
Soul Bound Weapon:
Weapon Name: Thousand Views Weapon Description: The weapon is a saber with a simple brown hilt. The blade is designed to retain blood. The sword is roughly one yard long, and is roughly reminiscent in appearance to the image below Weapon Image:
Weapon Attack Type: Slash Weapon Element:

The Background
|
History: Mynoghra was the cousin of Nyarlethotep. However, relationships between deities do not have the same familial connotation as it does with humans. However, Mynoghra has always been intensely loyal to her cousin. For aeons, she has furthered the goals of Nyarlethotep. When Nyarlethotep made his bet against Philemon over the fate of humanity, Mynoghra decided that she was going to try to make her cousin's job a little easier on planet earth. As one who is not party to their deal, Mynoghra is free to move about the world and interfere as she pleases. Unfortunately, she does not possess the vast wealth of power that Nyarlethotep does. Therefor, she generally influences events from the shadows. Mynoghra has led a vast life as Mary, although the surname "Nichols" is a fairly recent creation. She has seen the rise and fall of empires and was left none too impressed. She has been a queen, although it's better not to inquire about that one. She will not be amused. The origins of the Bloody Mary and the Hanako-chan urban legends find themselves mostly influenced by her actions (although she is not Hanako-chan. Hanako-chan was a real girl manipulated by Mary who ended up dying in a bathroom). Her most gruesome, if not legendary tales come from Victorian England. During this time, she gained her favorite title, "The Witch of the Clock Tower." She would get people, through various means, to join her for an evening in the clock tower where she had taken up residence. There, she would brutally murder them before tossing their corpses into a river which would then run red with their blood. These killings only stopped when a particularly tolerant man managed to hold Mary at bay for three solid days and nights. As a reward, she offered to him both her body and his freedom. He accepted neither, which further baffled her. She had fully intended on killing him the moment he attempted to take either prize, yet he simply sat cross-legged on the wooden floors of her tower. "If you should have me ravage your body with my left hand, my dear, then I shall caress it with my right." This man is the only being, let alone human, to have ever actually earned Mary's respect. Eventually she did grow to love the man. They remained together peacefully for many years, in fact. Yet, as he grew old and she did not, she performed one of the few selfless acts that she had ever performed in her life. She stole a jewel, a brilliant large pearl which had belonged to his family for generations, and severed his left hand. She threw him into the lake, all the while cackling and goading over having, "Stolen his ability to love her." The notion that she had, in fact, stolen the wrong hand was not lost on her. It is for loyalty that Mary comes to Azores. Having heard rumors from other Nyarlethotep Children of a large concentration of Persona Users (and even rumors of Devil Summoners), she set out and made a home for herself on the island, poised and waiting for the time to strike. This island is not ready for Bloody Mary, let alone the truth behind the legend.

| Updated for height/weight. Dimensions of the blade were already there. "The saber is roughly 1 meter in length." | |
