| Jeremy felt as at home as he could possibly feel, today. The exchange student had ventured out into the park to enjoy the especially warm day. He wandered along the path for a while, getting acquainted with the area and simply soaking in the scenery. The father down the path he wandered, the farther his mind wandered as well. His body went into autopilot for a bit. He was still acutely aware of what he saw, and turned with the meander of the path, or avoided another person walking the other way, but his mind was nowhere near the here-and-now.
It wasn't until he noticed a shady spot that let in just the right amount of sunlight through the tall tree's boughs, that he snapped back to reality. With a smile, Jeremy strayed from the path and got to climbing. By the time he was done unpacking his backpack, a small stack of books and his own notebooks rested on a sturdy branch just above his own. With a smile and a happy sigh, he leaned back against the tree's trunk, opened a notebook, and gently rested it on his knee, while he held a book in one hand and started to read. Occasionally, he stopped to write something down before going back to his reading. "Couldn't have asked for a better day..." He murmured to himself.
After a few minutes of reading... his mind started to wander again... unfortunately, he lost focus on balancing too, and tumbled out of the tree. The fall wasn't far, and he thankfully missed any branches on the way down... but he still felt pain shoot through his leg. "Oww...." He climbed to his feet, leaning heavily against the tree and keeping his weight on his good leg. "That could've been worse, I'll just have to go rest my-..." He peered up at the tree... where all of his books were still perched. There was no way he could climb with his leg like this though... "Oh no...." | |
