Staring Contest (Pi)

Errands were a frequent task that she was given, however there was an extremely useful. Going around in person to deliver messages, letters, files, it gave her face time with important people or at the very least those that worked for them. It gave her a name, made sure she was know and one day that would be extremely useful. Having completed one of these mundane but critical tasks Katherine Tennfjord had a small slot which would normally give her time to eat lunch before a more studious afternoon of spreadsheets behind a desk. It was during this most critical time that her green eyes fell upon a sight which made her question quite how connected she was to reality. Two girls, alike and dissimilar, dressed somewhat oddly for the season and seated, in eerie silence looking into each other.

Now she knew exactly how one might be lost into another eyes, she’d had it happen a few times but, twins. Maybe it was a street performance, in fact that seemed the most likely, it was too odd to be real. Crossing the road towards them Kathrine smoothed down her brown dress and adjusted the fall of her belt. A skip onto the curb and she came to a stop. Not too close that she seemed like a total creep, maybe enough to be noticed. A tilt of the head and finally a glance around to see if anyone else was paying the remotest attention. It seemed not, mayhaps she was the only one that could see them, and she’d finally snapped. Or that everyone else here seemed to have other things on their mind other than the nature of mimes? There was no hat, pot or sheet on the floor for coins and change, so not that, then what? Just creepy twins?

Well you know what people say about when you come across strange twins on a bench on the day with other people around. Take a seat and see where it takes, you, clearly. Shedding paranoia like an annoying fly the blonde strode up to the two with a friendly smile and positioned between the two of them inquired, “May I ask, is this seat taken?” Indicating towards the space between the two of them. It was now that she noticed they seemed quite pale, unblinking, hard to tell for a moment even breathing. Still Kathrine was never one to pass on meeting new people, who knew what they might bring, well as long as the people didn’t look too dangerous.

“You were certainly making a spectacle of yourselves, so I wanted to see why,” Katherine spoke honestly. She had thought the two were acting strange and now they were finishing each other's sentences, in such a way it had to be scripted. Either that or the two had a psychic bond, or were using magic. The latter was so unlikely that she was still willing to put money on the first, this must be one of those interactive street theaters. Taking that free seat now the answer had been given she leant forwards to look at them both and made up her mind to keep on joining in. Putting these two on their spot would test their acting chops for sure, since she was no slouch in the game of words.

The pair was certainly adorable, as far as somewhat creepy twins went. It would have been great to have her own twin, someone to be with her like Dani was, only betterer. She would surely have tried some of the same things if she had, to get a reaction out of people. Now was not the time for quite such whimsy however, “If you want you can finish this one. What is it you -” The game was afoot, ashoe! Leaning in and motioning to the closer of the two twins she kept on smiling, wondering if this would really turn into a game or not. It seemed the brown haired one was far more into this, if she asked the question, then it would full to the shyer one to answer. The squeal had been quite cute, it had also seemed quiet real.

And what a game it must be, “You didn’t disturb me at all, merely intrigued me?” That they had solved her almost terrible riddle was proof enough of that, at least part of it they’d caught onto. Raising her finger to her chin in false contemplation she paused for a second before passing it back, “Quite indeed, “What is it you are going here?” They were playing a game that much was clear, so they said. Why here however, in this place at this time did these girls not have something better and more useful to do? Could they not per chance go shopping or to the park, were they waiting for someone, if so then who? It was a quandary.

Placing her finger down into her lap she kept on smiling, if nothing else she enjoyed talking to two younger girls so seemed so darn cute. They could almost be mascots for something, which given how they were dressed, might be the point. They would soon come up with some free tickets or a coupon for something maybe? Glasses? What else would come from a staring contest turned advert?
