| One man stood on darkness, or at least he had before he knelt forward on the ground along with several other people with him. He clutched his face at a burn wound from an attack he received. He looked around at anyone who was still with him, only to find that the few that joined him were no longer moving."W-What is this madness? Their defenses are so strong....and where is Thesis....? Get up you fool...." he muttered to himself as he did his best to push himself up on one leg, only to fall on his knees once more. He should have waited to make the assault, but even had he done so it seemed that whatever happened here was now preventing him from destroying the damn thing. It was disgusting how strong it was. "My power is not yours, I can still f-fight..." he said, hurling another attack at it, only for the enemy to absorb it, and reflect it back onto him. He landed to the ground, coughing up blood. He wasn't too thrilled with this turnout, but he thought it would be enough if he fought fire with fire. It wasn't like he didn't know about Thesis' powers. But this...this was not what he expected. There was no sign of her, and instead, this mass in the center being held up by black thorns and other tentacle-like appendages only got larger, over the size of a human, and wider than one to boot.
Ariston clenched his teeth. He did not want to die like this, and certainly not by the hands of someone he once knew. He lifted himself on one arm, as the mass began to swirl with whatever was held inside, as though building something up deep within. Was it all over for him? He was not one to accept death under any circumstances. He had lost the friends and allies that came with him, but that was not enough for him, he could not give up now. However, his body could not move. He couldn't even flee in time. Before anything could happen however, his arm and with it, his body began to be lifted out of thin air, like someone invisible was picking him up and letting him hang on to his shoulders. Ariston seemed upset either way, and sneered. "I meant for you to stay away when I told you. Others need you." The invisible figure did not seem to let him go. "They are doing well without me; I will get to them, but first you need to get to safety. Don't be stupid. You couldn't take it on by yourself." Ariston was not pleased. "T-Then hurry up and get us out. If we didn't fight now, then we would be missing a chance." "Then we will just have to wait. We exchange one problem for another; so just suck up your pride and let's go." The conversation seemed over at this point, but the egg-like being was not finished. It seemed to glow, and finally burst to unleash something unknown. It was not certain for the two that were there. Meanwhile, all around the islands, starting at Standasen before spreading, the skies would turn into shades of purple, with black swirls. The weather would surely become erratic at this point, for in some islands it may be hot, others cold, another may be snowing. Whatever was happening, this was almost certain to be the catalyst of it all, if not the entire cause. If citizens were scared, many of them were now horrified, and even the government could do little with investigation to stop it. The hope of these islands had to rest somewhere... | |
