What is an Awakening Topic?:
An Awakening topic is when your character unlocks their potential to use a Persona and interact with the world of Limbo or even the Velvet Room. The Awakening Topics are events held by Philemon or an Admin that puts your character in a situation where they will unlock their ability to use their Persona. There are multiple ways these events may occur, and for each character type it is different.
Persona-Users Awakening:
For an Persona-User to awaken to their potential, they must first have three well made threads. Once this occurs, Philemon will trigger an event for them to unlock their Persona. Now there are multiple ways for a Persona-User to unlock their Persona, but the main way we're using at the current time is facing their Shadow. The potential User will be put in a situation where they must face their Shadow self and overcome it with the help of their friends. Once this occurs, they will have unlocked their Persona. This is similar to Persona 4's set up on facing themselves, and occurs within Limbo most of the time.
Nyarlathotep Children Awakening:
Unlike a Persona-User that unlocks their potential naturally, these Characters get their Persona bestowed upon them from the Crawling Chaos himself. Once one of this character type has three well made threads, Nyarlathotep will meet with them in the guise of someone else, and offer them the power and a contract. If they accept, he will give them a Tainted Persona in return for their services when they are needed. Unlike Persona-Users, they do not need others to help them with their Awakening, as they do not need to battle or face themselves.
Velvet Room Attendant Awakening:
Now the Velvet Room Attendant does not use a Persona naturally, and instead uses a Persona Compendium for combat. However, they still go through their own form of Awakening, though they can always enter and leave Limbo, and the real world, from the beginning. After three well made threads, Igor or another NPC Attendant within the Velvet Room will supply them with a Persona Compendium for their protection when they venture out of the Velvet Room. Once they own their Compendium, they can begin to record skills and use it to defend themselves in combat.
Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon Awakening:
Though the Anti-Shadow weapons are built with the ability to fight Shadows, they still need to go through their own form of Awakening. As a machine, they need to build an Ego to be able to summon a Persona. After three well made threads, their systems will successfully determine what kind of "Ego" they contain, and a Persona will be born. Unlike the other character classes, the Weapons do not need any others with them when they unlock their Persona.
Shadow Selves Awakening:
The Shadow Selves awakening are far different than the other classes. Your first three threads that are pre-awakening, you will be roleplaying as the original human. This means you're not the Shadow Self yet, but an actual human being. During your awakening, your Shadow Self will form and after a short altercation, that Shadow Self will kill the original human and take their place. From that moment on you will be in control of your Shadow Self.
Note** - When your character has 3 well made threads, PM the current Plot Overseer with the threads and they will create your Awakening topic.
