The two Shadows they just defeated were definitely tougher than the last 3... But they managed to pull through regardless. Heh, this was actually going smooth, smoother than Charles imagined it would. Especially Blaez. He seemed way stronger than that time in the other Zela Academy. Something about him changed... Charles sat down on a nearby broken tree trunk. They have been walking through the mud for enough time already and even he had beome exhausted. The two of them were strong, but without the others around, they were the only ones who could attack, meaning they drained themselves quite easily. Only two battles and he was already at his limit...

Charles turned to Blaez and got up. The initial urge to sit down had practically washed away the moment he sat down. Whether or not Blaez felt that way, he had no idea. But he noticed him pulling some rather odd looking object from somewhere. "What is that?" He asked curiously, referring to the Snuff Soul. He had never seen anything like that before. Why would Blaez be taking this?

Seriously, though, Charles wondered why the heck he had been so excited to aqcuire a Persona in the beggining. It was the only thing he knew, perhaps… But now, the power seemed more like a burden than a blessing. Sure, he got to fight all he wanted and he had a purpose… But it just felt wrong. He wanted to spend time with Mae and the others, not pushing his way through some swamp in another world, fighting Shadows all the while. Maybe these thoughts snuck up into the back of his head because of what happened with Nilo. These thoughts crawled like bugs through his brain, uneasing him, as they made him feel unsure in what to do with himself.

Just continue… or let this all fade into oblivion? Like with her. Who was she, even? The blonde haired beautiful angel that evaded his rational mind? He only knew of her through some disconnected emotions and pictures, but he could tell she was nice. Like Mae. Huh, how did she make her way into his thoughts all of a sudden? Mae, with her pink hair… The safe haven he could- no, wanted to reatreat to and stay there forever. The emotions he felt while thinking of her were a lot like the ones he could feel while thinking of the starlight girl…

Charles shook his head and moved along…

As Charles went on ahead, Blaez felt himself suddenly grow weaker, his innards feeling like they were acting on their own; not his own. The power within him given by Israfel was suddenly being invaded....invaded by a presence that was not his own. It was clouding his senses...his eyes....his ears, his very being was slowly being invaded by the taint of the Primordials...and it would be all he could feel before his sight would leave him.

Blaez would open his eyes and see around him a temple, and in the middle an empty coffin. Though it looked like he was somewhere else, he could tell simply by intuition that this was inside his consciousness. He could feel the presence in him running deep, as well as a voice calling to him in his head. "D........Don't fall.....Fight....." a voice unmistakably akin to Israfel, only this time it was very clearly in immense agony. An aura washed over Blaez, that reminded him of his power, but instead it healed his status entirely and gave him newfound strength. But it seemed his connection to him at least for the moment was cut. Was whatever was happening to Blaez caused by whatever was happening to the Angel? Either way, a presence was building around him, and black sands began to fill the coffin, before a dark hand slipped out, and with it, a hideous looking creature that looked both tribal and perhaps alien, as it looked to Blaez.

It heaved, and smacked the ground. The killing intent in this temple was palpable, and Blaez only had one shot to finish it or risk getting his mind eroded by the beast. Though he could still feel his body wrestling outside his head. He could sense that Charles was still near him, and outside, he knew his body may be up to no good...

Meanwhile, on the outside, a horde of Shadows had decided to rear their ugly heads to attack, but Charles would notice that Blaez was not following....well, not for a moment anyway. Veins black as the night started to pulse on his body, and a mist poured from his mouth, and a purple ooze started to leak down from his shoulder to one of his arms. Something was happening, and apparently is was so repulsive that many of the Shadows of the Horde left....only two Shadows deciding to stay and fight.

Blaez had not been completely taken over just yet, as he could hear his voice normal and fine as he grunted....or so that's what the sign hopefully meant...but it would be up to them to fight off the corruption to keep Blaez Wynter from facing total demise and becoming a monster.

Something bad happened to Israfel and it was affecting him too whatever it was, that monster was definitely the job of a primordial and it was trying to take control over him,Blaez pride wouldn't allow him to go down like that,he would fight back and he would win.

"That's all?"He grinned,Blaez wasn't intimidated in the slightest"I will shove those tentacles up your ass."

"Let's g-" Charles stopped. The black mass of Shadows in front of him suddenly dispersed, only the two of them retaining their killing intent directed towards Charles. W-why were the Shadows... turning away? Huh, and where was Blaez? Wasn't he just behind him? Instinctively, he turned towards the path he just came through. Blaez stood there, further away than he would've thought he'd find him standing. Something was wrong, though... Seriously wrong. This sensation... He felt it the moment he laid eyes on Blaez. It was terrifying, alien to him. "B-blaez?" He called out to his friend, but remained frozen in place. That... wasn't Blaez anymore, he knew that much, ut he couldn't bring himself to do anything.

There were Shadows behind him and Blaez was blocking his path, all the while he himself knew that he had no more strenght to derive his power from. The best thing he could do is cling to the ever dimmer sliver of hope he felt that maybe Blaez was just messing with him and that he'd answer back and call him a wuss or something...

The shocking attack definitely hurt the being, but it was not out yet. In response, its mask started to glow a white hot hue, and from it, a fireball shot directly towards Blaez, attempting to burn him.

When Charles guarded, Blaez's arm started to course with lightning, and after pointing it to him, would blast him with a bolt, while the Shadows saw this monster as a threat, they were creatures and definitely recognized when prey was not fighting back. Henceforth, they both attacked Charles and swiped at him, attempting to do him harm.

Charles whinced as the electricity coursed through his body and the Shadows attacked him... But Blaez! What was happening to him? Charles clenched his fists and braced himself for another strike... If this kept up... No, he was going to get out of here and somehow fix Blaez, whatever was happening to him. There was no other option than that.

"Blaez!" He shouted again towards the boy, desperately hoping to somehow get through to him...

The being seemed to halt at the attack, expecting something else. But instead, it was healed. An odd idea, but it nonetheless did not prevent him from charging at him attempting to knock him backwards to the floor.

Blaez didn't seem to do anything actually, and instead, lift his hands and bathe in a bright aura. It didn't do anything, and he simply stood there as the Shadows continued to attack.

"..." What was Blaez doing now? He hadn't attacked him this time... Did he heal himself? Could it have been an reaction to the fact he had called out to him? Whatever it was, it was good news, right? But the Shadows were an issue. He knew what to do, but... Well, hopefully, Blaez would forgive him for it later.

Cringing, Charles watched as his attack practically decimated the battlefield. Sure, he was out of steam, but his attacks were still strong enough when he managed to gather enough strenght. What bothered him, tho, was Blaez. The attack hit him straight, but he only responded by guarding... What was this all?

With the Shadows now destroyed, the corrupting comrade of Charles' was now the only threat. Could they figure out a way to take down the threat and keep another ranger from being taken by the arms of death?
