| "Well, I dunno. For some people, school is more useful than for others, I'd say. Depending on your tastes, it can be fun too... honestly, I only really like Math, Geometry and Arts since those are the subjects I need... well, I can see why they'd be boring to others, but that's my personal taste." That was all she had to say about school. It was relatively fun, but some classes turned out to be too easy for her, even if they were among the hardest for everyone else... it was something that sparked in her mind, but her memory for this kind of thing tended to be better than average, for whatever reason.
"Oh... really? That's... kinda surprising, actually. I'd have imagined you had at least a boyfriend or two before..." Rita did feel a bit more relieved at this, though, she figured that there was still a chance that Lia may not be straight... or, if anything, bi. "If it's something you haven't told many others, it can be..." There were many things that Rita could tell Lia and would count as secrets, but she didn't know how many Lia could tell her. It was indeed weird... love itself was weird. After all, Rita never really had a girlfriend or boyfriend either, she just.. she just felt attracted to women and not men, simple as that. "I don't know. Honestly, I think I never really doubted it. Even when I was little, I only had eyes for girls, not boys. I was also a lot more of a tomboy growing up, but I don't think that has anything to do with it... I think, I just knew it. Didn't really cross my mind whether I actually like girls or not... even now... If... If I may be completely honest... I think I like you." After that little speech, Rita would bring her knees to her chin and rest her head on them, blushing like it was nobody's business. She really wasn't sure of her feelings but, in all truth, it was better in her mind to just say it now, straight out. Sure, they had only known each other for a little while, but Lia was Rita's first and best friend ever since she arrived here... honestly, if there was anyone on this island that she liked romantically, Lia would be it, there simply was no other candidate that caught her eye.
"..." Afterwards, Rita would just bury her face in her legs and arms, trying to hide her blush but also in surprise that she was actually calm... it was unusual for her, honestly, but... maybe because it was Lia, maybe because they were alone right now, maybe simply because she was being honest, Rita could keep at least somewhat calm right now...

—Description: Rita possesses above-average intelligence and usually gets very good marks when she puts in just a bit of effort on a class. Her memory plays a very important part in this, as she usually remembers a class's subject forever even though she can't pinpoint it.

—Description: Rita really can't understand how to read the mood and when she says something wrong, she usually needs someone to tell her. She normally always apologizes for her mistake unless she can't find it a mistake herself.

—Description: She doesn't approach anyone, instead preferring to be alone at all times. She keeps mostly quiet and doesn't even speak much to anyone that speaks to her, preferring to joke in her own way to make the person annoyed and go away. She feels she's better off alone in the normal world but relinquishes those feelings while in Limbo.

| She shook her head at Rita's odd assumption. "Of course not! I don't really care much about it. Maybe if they joined the circus. My dad was considering having me say hi to a few workers here. I thought about it, but nah. Maybe one day," she said. When she essentially came out, to Lia, she wouldn't seem so surprised. Maybe not for the same reason Rita thought however.
"Ooooh, you mean like that you say? I can't say I know how that works. You're a cool girl, and it is nice to see you around. But I don't know how to give back feelings. It'd kind of a weird idea. What makes liking someone over someone else so special? I am not being mean, I just don't know how it works," she said, chuckling a bit with a slight blush on her face as well. She put her hands over Rita's back to shake her a bit out of her shell. "Hey wake up! You have to have courage to face the things that scare you." She smiled and winked, to try and lift her spirits. She was dense, but she understood what she meant by like. She just didn't know exactly the best way to reciprocate that. Did she like her back? Would she date her? She didn't exactly know, so maybe she should talk to her a little more and figure things out. She reached for Rita's hair to fiddle with it, and play with it really. "If you don't stop being so upset, I'll braid it," she threatened.

| "I see. Interesting.." She'd say this to the boyfriend business, smiling a bit shyly inside her shell, glad that there was a chance, at least. "Liking someone over someone else...?" It was a weird thought for Rita, she never really looked at it that way, but it was reassuring to know just how Lia felt. If she didn't know how to reciprocate feelings, maybe Rita would just have to show her...
"Lia..." Rita would lift her head up as Lia tried to cheer her up, looking at her with a blushing face and a thin smile of embarrassment, not really happy or sad, more neutral than anything. "I know about that... but still, I can't ignore it. I know what you mean, not knowing how give back, reciprocate someone's feelings. That happened to me a few times, I think... one just recently, too..." After a little pause, Rita would shake her head to dispel the though in her head and then continue. "Though, I understand. But, I have to tell you, Lia, you're my best friend, for sure. You were the first person I met here on this island and the one I like the most. In truth, you're the person I most enjoy being around. I think that's why I like you, because you were nothing but kind to me so far..." A giggle would come out of her mouth after this and she'd look away, her blush only getting stronger as Lia started playing with her hair. That was the truth, there, what she said. Lia was the only person she could like right now, the only one that made her feel so... cheerful. Rita thought that she could actually enjoy her time with Lia, that's why she liked her.
"Braid it? Go right ahead, I like braids. And I'm not upset, silly, I'm happy, happy that you understand, at least." If Lia hadn't let go of her hair by this point, Rita would pull her into a hug suddenly, before she had time to react, and tighten it a bit before letting go. She did this simply because it was her instinct, because she had no other way to do it. In theory, Rita could have kissed her, that would be a better way to show her feelings, but it'd be forceful, she wouldn't do it if Lia didn't specifically tell her that she liked her back. Rita was fickle like that, yet somehow forceful at times. | |

| She understood how she liked her a little better after how she explained, and it made her smile when she told her she thought of Lia as her best friend. For some reason it was just nice to see a part-timer grow so fond of her. She definitely enjoyed the thought. She let go of Rita and hugged her back. "Well, how about from now on I can pull you aside to become a part-time performer if you want. It's the least I can do for being so helpful. Did you want to do anything after this? My dad is making me take a week off from practice while work is off until the new year. Sometimes, I hate it when people try to make me do things," she said with a laugh. She sat back on the pole, looking out among the crowd. Maybe it wasn't so bad having friends you prefer. Is that how it worked outside of the circus? Maybe she needed a little help on the outside world after all. | |

| A Part-time performer? Well, it's not like the idea never sprang to Rita's mind, but wouldn't it be tough? After all, the only thing she could do that was note-worthy was maybe some speedy acrobatic sword moves and flashy nonsense like that. It could be enough to entertain, yes, but perhaps it wouldn't be enough to satisfy her.
"Being a performer here... I dunno if I could really do it all that well... I only have two talents, drawing and, well... this is gonna sound a bit silly, but using a sword. That's all I'm really good at that doesn't involve me using my brain..." True, Rita was strong, stronger than the average person, that was for sure, but that itself didn't count as much of a talent in her book. Well, no matter, what really caught her attention was when Lia said she was free for a week now, it made her happy and, by crazy chance, it was the perfect opportunity.
"Well, actually... you know how there's going to be a festival going on in Malstu? We could go there when it starts, if you want. I'm sure it'll be fun." After Lia sat back up normally and let her go, Rita would say this in a cheerful voice, almost forgetting what had happened before... "almost" being the keyword here, she didn't regret it a single bit right now. Hopefully Lia agreed, it would be fun seeing her there and maybe they'd actually do something worthwhile there... In any case, Rita would just stay put and look at the ceiling for now, a little tiny smile adorning her still rosy face. | |

| "Well, you don't have to. You can stay as an animal caretaker if you want. You do a great job with it. As for the festival.." she said, thinking to herself. "I was actually thinking about performing there. A couple of us are going to during the festival. If I have to stay off that day then sure! But I bet he will make me either way," she said, frowning slightly. The idea was bittersweet. She'd certainly enjoy some time with a friend. Though she still had her true passion in her work. She wouldn't get another chance like this for a while. Maybe she should wait it out? Maybe she should take the chance to go out with a friend? Was it worth more than indulging a little? Exploring the outside for a bit or sticking to a passion? It's not like she would miss other festivals in the future...She seemed a little lost, and scratched her head to rattle her head around it. | |

| The response Lia gave her... could have been better, truly. It wasn't the outcome she was expecting, to say the least, but Rita wouldn't blame Lia for it. In fact, if she thought about it for a bit, it was clear that's what she'd respond.
"I see... Well, tell me before the festival starts, at least, I want to know if I should wait for you or go to meet you there." Stretching a bit, Rita looked straight at Lia, as if calling her attention with a bit of a smirk. "Besides, the festival doesn't last only a day, right? Maybe you could perform some days and then come with me for others? How does that sound?" It was a bit of wishful thinking, sure, but Rita would be content with that. Honestly, all she really wanted was to hang out with Lia during that day, not even do much more. You could say, even, that the festival was simply just a very convenient excuse for her to invite Lia on a sort of "date".
"Well, if you can't, I understand, but I'll go and watch you perform if you do end up doing it. You can count on that, at least." With a quick wink and a hidden but slightly noticeable giggle, Rita looked down towards the ground, wondering just how high they were. The actual height gave her shivers but she couldn't help but be intrigued by it. I guess you could say Rita had no fear of heights, only of falling off them... | |

| While the thought of not going all days disappointed her, maybe this was the best idea. She'd get a taste of both the outside with a normal friend, and she'd get to perform. Well, why not? "You got a deal. I'll call you with a phone and give you the days. Sound good?" she said, feeling better now. Maybe this will turn out to be worth it after all. "Is there a dress code? I know sometimes there are festivals that want a clothing type..." with the continuation of girl talk and questions, the night would continue on, including another prank out in the crowd, exploring out back, and a modest gift exchange. It was truly a cold and eventful Christmas evening. | |
