"Have you ever had a dream? A dream where you felt you would miss something important, and you had a fear of waking up? I keep having these dreams every night. A reoccurring dream that never stops. I see the face of an old friend that I killed. Only in my dreams can I see him again. So why do I have to wake up?"

The man's eyes opened after another night; another dream. His eyes looked over to the calendar hanging up on the wall which displayed the date: November 26th, 2013. It had been another long year, and he was continuing to go through the motions of his life. He should have been happy, seeing how he had a pleasant job, and even a woman he could say he loved. But still, you could say he was a depressed man. Through that smile he wore, and the carefree attitude he gave to his students, Aburai was simply using it all as a mask. That day, seven years ago, was still haunting him to this day. He figured this would just be another day in his life, as he sat up from his bed and gave a sigh.

He looked at the clock. It was early, around eight in the morning. Even though Kizuna Academy was closed for the holidays, he still had a job to do. He had taken a small tutoring lesson just for some extra cash. He didn't particularly need the money, but at the same time there was no reason for him not to do the job. If he didn't do that simple job for the day, then he'd literally lounge around the house. Though, that wasn't too bad. Considering the woman laying next to him would most likely keep him company. Her name was Nola Shepard, and she was also a teacher at Kizuna Academy. He had found himself in a relationship with this woman seemingly out of the blue. No matter how hard he worked to keep his distance from his co-workers, she remained persistent. It was inevitable that they'd get into a relationship at this point. But that was enough about that. Aburai would give her a small peck on the cheek before pulling himself out of bed and getting ready for the day.

Aburai found himself day dreaming as he sat behind the wheel of his car. The roads were busy, so it looked like he was going to be late to his job. He couldn't help but hit his head on his steering wheel gently, as he looked out his window to watch a group of teenagers. There were three of them, and they seemed to be close. You had the loud one that was probably their leader. And the two others that followed behind him, not because they wanted but more like they were just attracted to the chaos the leader brought. This scene brought back some memories, and Aburai couldn't help but give a smile. However, he was snapped out of his delusion from a car honking behind him, and forcing him to proceed. His smile faded back into a slight frown, as he took a turn down a dark road. He was hoping this would provide a short cut to where he needed to go, but something caused him to slam on the breaks. Standing in the middle of the road was a blonde teen. This teen looked familiar... So familiar, he caused Aburai's entire body to shake, as he watched the boy walk off the road.

Aburai couldn't get a good look at the teen, but something told him to get out of his car and follow. He sat in his seat, contemplating this. His mind was playing tricks on him, right? There was no way he could have seen his old friend. He was dead. Was he dreaming? Could he not tell the difference between a dream and reality now? All these questions swelled up within his mind, and on impulse he would open his door and shoot into a sprint after the teen. "Wait a second! Wait, Souka!" The man yelled after the teen, who took a turn around the corner once again. He didn't give up, as he turned and followed after him. However, once he turned the corner, his eyes would open wide at what he saw.

"Aburai, long time no see, buddy. Sorry it took so long for me to find you, but I'm back." Souka looked up and gave a smile to the teacher, also known as his close friend of the past. Of course Aburai was frozen. How could someone who was dead be standing before him now? This was a dream right? The man fell to his knees and grasped his head, closing his eyes. This was another dream, so he'd only need to wake up. Souka was dead, he killed him. All he needed to do was wake up. As he held his head, Souka walked up to him and held out his hand. "Come on, Aburai. I'm real. I need your help, okay? I've been sent here on a mission. Starting next month, this world will begin to fall apart at the seams. Reality will begin to unravel, as another world will cross into this one. This world is a promised land sent by a God named Brahman. He brought me back to help facilitate this new world. Now I need help, so I figured I'd find my old friends. Natashi has already agreed, so now I need you. Don't you want to make up for what happened in the past between us? We'll be able to start over in this new world. I promise. Remember, we're all two sides of the same coin." Souka gave a smile, and Aburai looked up towards him. If this were truly a dream, then it'd be okay to take his hand, right? And even if it wasn't, Souka was right. It was his fault that he died in the past, so he had an obligation to help. The man could no longer deal with this guilt he had been carrying for years. So taking Souka's hand, he'd stand and give a nod. "Alright, Souka. I'll help you." The moment they were in agreement, a sharp pain came over Aburai, as he grasped his head and stumbled backwards. When he finally came too, Souka was gone.

Days passed after that event, and it seemed like nothing changed for awhile. He had put it off as maybe him hallucinating, but that excuse wouldn't be viable for long. On the first day of winter, a young woman vanished in Ueitawa. From that moment on, Aburai could see strange red doorways that littered the streets of Ueitawa. There was even doorways in his school that people seemed to not be able to see but himself. On multiple occasions, he peeked inside this doorways to see another world entirely. He never ventured far within them, but he could feel the presence of something sinister that lived within that alternate world. As he traveled to the different areas of Ueitawa, he continued to open these doorways. He could see that depending on where you were determined which of these different worlds you'd be headed within. This made him curious what the doorway in Kizuna Academy led too. And when he took a look inside the doorway, it seemed to lead to a blank world. It was almost as if nothing existed within it. So he took a step within this world to see if he could sense a sinister presence, and surprisingly there was nothing. It was like a blank canvas. Atleast, it was at first. However, the world soon began to shift and change. It changed to that very street Souka was struck by the car, but things were weird. There were black Shadows lining the walls, and the world seemed to be covered in a tint of red. He could hear voices mocking him, but he did not wait to see what was happening. Instead, he ran out of the doorway and slammed it behind him. What the hell was that? There was no way he was walking back into that death trap.

Later that day once school had ended, Aburai received a phone call from someone he had not heard from in years. It came from Natashi. He was not surprised, considering Souka said he had met Natashi recently aswell. The C.E.O. wished to meet with the Teacher, and Aburai accepted. They met at his factory within Iwagodai, where the two caught up with their childhood before getting down to business.

"Let's get down to business. So, I'm sure Souka visited you aswell, didn't he? He gave you the power to see the doorways to that other world, right?" Natashi spoke with a calm tone as Aburai nodded. "I see. Well, I've been experimenting with this new power of mine. Those doorways people cannot see, you can actually throw people in there, and they won't be able to escape. That woman, Kirito. I caused her to disappear. But don't think I'm doing this because I want to see people dead. That's not the case." He folded his glasses and placed them in his pocket. "Our mission is to prepare the people of this world to cross over into that red world. The more the doorways open, the faster this world of Limbo will take over our own. And when that happens, we'll be able to use that world's power to overwrite our current reality. But humanity is going to want change for this to happen. Limbo changes its shape for whoever there for a longer period of time. It becomes a safe haven for them, which makes me believe that world has endless potential. If I learn how to harness it, I'll be able to create a world where humanity can create their own happiness. Finally a chance for my skills to shine." Natashi seemed happy to finally have a moment to stand out. Aburai knew his old friend had felt a certain kind of way, being stuck all the way in Iwagodai, living in the shadow of Yachiru and Shibakuzoi. Aburai looked at his friend staring at something on the table against the wall. It appeared to be a mask of some sort. Something about this mask made the teacher feel like he had seen it before. Not only that, he felt like the mask was a part of something within him. An odd feeling in the least.

"This is where you come in, Old Friend. While I use my abilities to usher in this new world, I will need you to convince people that our current world is in turmoil. I'll leave it up to your imagination to how you want to carry this on, but don't let Souka's gift go to waste. I'm counting on you." Aburai shook his head and stood from his seat. Why was all of this being thrown on his lap now? What did they expect from him? "Alright, I'll see what I can do." He had no choice in the matter.

In the next coming weeks, Aburai would begin to use the doorways of Kizuna Academy as his personal tool for his goal. The first person he'd come across was a Ejji Reiguu. He was on the Kendo team, so he knew where the boy would be after school. During clean up, Aburai would take that opportunity to strike. A cloth to the mouth and a quick throw into Limbo seemed to do the trick. He wasn't sure what would happen to the kid, but it wasn't like he was ever going to get out of that place anyway. So Aburai went on with his days, following his usual patterns. Of course until he saw that this boy had returned back to his world. How was that possible? How was he able to escape that deathtrap? Did he also get a strange power from Souka? Something wasn't right.

Aburai decided to tail this young man for the coming days. He needed to know as much as he could about him. Through this time, he also had various other victims thrown into the Dreamscape Aberration. And each time, these kids would be rescued, causing a slight annoyance. Aburai became so annoyed that he had even sent them a letter, threatening to kill someone close to them if they continued on. His threat was ignored, and those kids began to save more and more of their friends, gaining more support on their side. As Aburai taught his classes, he'd usually watch these students. Behind that carefree smile, he was secretly jealous. Not jealous of their power, but more jealous of the friendship they had that he did not. At this point he figured if that method would not get the job done, he'd have to take more drastic measures.

So visiting the casino one late night, he'd leave a doorway to Limbo open. In due time, a Shadow from that world escaped into the real world, and caused havoc at the Casino in Shibakuzoi. Aburai watched the scene from a safe distance, as those very kids appeared, ready to take on the Shadow. Once again, they were playing hero, and it pissed him off. He left the scene in utter annoyance at their victory against the Shadow he had released within the Casino. Everything he did, they seemed to step up to stop him.

Natashi trucked on, causing the disappearance of another young girl who was seen at the suspect of Kirito's disappearance. With him trying so hard, Aburai couldn't back down. His next assault was releasing a Shadow where the dormitory stood. This Shadow attacked the dorm, claiming many students in its wake. It was a successful operation that caused Aburai to continue on and release two more Shadows into the real world. These Shadows resided within Shibakuzoi and another in Iwagodai. Of course, this would not be enough. He'd need to get his hands dirty. After learning that Satoshi Anya was rescued, he knew this was the time for him to become more aggressive in causing turmoil in this world.

Aburai's first victim would be the Principal of Kizuna Academy. The man had returned from a prolonged absence. Nola seemed ecstatic. So ecstatic that she began to blow off time with Aburai, just to see if she could have some one on one time with the man. Perhaps this was why Aburai chose this man to be his first victim. Pure jealousy that turned into hatred for him. So, Aburai paid him a visit... The talk did not last long.. He killed the man in cold blood, using a power he was not too familiar with. This was the first time he had summoned his persona in a fit of rage, and it took the life of his mentor. He didn't wish to kill the man, but he lost control of his anger. There was no choice now but to cover up the murder. So he escaped from the scene using the doorway to Limbo that was within the office, and circled around to play the innocent bystander. In his rush, he forgot to grab the body and bring it with him into the doorway. Because of this, he met her... That noisy girl getting involved in affairs above her head.

Who did she think she was? He gave her a smile, answered her questions, and even defended her from Professor Yui. So why the hell was she so adamant on poking around? For the coming days, Aburai watched this student. He was envious of her, at the same time threatened by her aswell. At the time being, he decided to lay low for awhile; seeing what type of person she was. During this time of him laying low, Natashi seemed to have his hands full. Thanks to some webshow, it seemed the brats were hot on his trail. Natashi did reach out to Aburai for help, but the teacher denied any sort of thing. If he couldn't pull his weight, that was his own damn problem. To spite Aburai for this, the man made sure to take Nola and throw her into Limbo.

This act of betrayal made Aburai's mind fall farther than it already had. After a few weeks passed, his killings began again. His next target being a member of the athletics team. Calling her up to the rooftop, he killed her and purposely left her body to be found. To make things interesting, he put a name in the blood before leaving the scene. This, of course, pulled Lorielle, the female student he had interest in, into the mix of things. She was forced to go to the police station for questioning, and that was where the teacher pulled his move to rid himself of her. He was not able to finish the job, sadly, but he felt secured knowing she was out of the picture.

With Natashi now behind bars, Aburai was alone in this mission. Marah B., Souka in disguise, had even neglected to assist him at this point. He was dragged into this by these two, yet now he was alone. To make things worse, he received a letter from someone who claimed to have Nola. Even though he knew Nola was somewhere in Limbo, he played along and delivered the letter to the Detective who was hot on his trails. With this letter, it seemed to clear his name for the time being, and allowed him to continue his mission. This man, by the name of Godai, would be framed for the murder of his class and the previous deaths within the school aswell. With this done, the school was closed and graduation was pushed off.

Aburai spent his days locked in his home. Without Nola, or his job, his life was spinning out of control. He figured his only escape from this was to take out the source. So in a fit of desperation, he would hunt down Marah B., finding him at the outskirts of the school. Before the boy could even question why he was there, Aburai struck him down with Daraku, making sure he wouldn't be standing back up. He had a nerve to even kick Marah's dead body on the ground, but thought against it as he didn't need this tracing back to him in anyway. However, even he knew with a death like this, the case against Godai would probably go down hill. It was worth it however. With Souka finally dead and Natashi behind bars; Aburai's life could fall back into mediocrity. He didn't need to kill anymore.

From then to now, killers have feelings too Tumblr_mqvt0pPtjI1s4qvrdo1_r1_500

Even when he had nothing else to fight for, he was haunted by the vivid dreams of that girl who played hero. She was the last person alive that he truly needed to rid himself of. His mental state was already deteriorating at this point, and he no longer cared for subtle acts. Aburai made his way to the hospital she was currently being kept at to end it all. But for him to do this, he had to go through her friends that wished to protect her. Once again, he felt jealousy over this comatose kid. It must have been nice to have friends who stood by her, even when she couldn't stand on her own. In an act of rage and release, he took her life and kicked her body to the feet of her closest friend. For a second, he felt as if a weight was off his shoulders. But soon, there was a pit of guilt swirling in his stomach. He had killed her when she had done nothing wrong. Aburai couldn't believe what kind of person he had turned into over the past year... And it all started with the death of Souka when they were still young.

The man figured it would be best for him to go into isolation for awhile. He was aware his mental state was lacking, and so he took Lorielle's corpse and vanished from the hospital. On the hills of Nokawia, he'd bury the girl's body. For some reason, it was just now that he was starting to regret what he had done in the past year. Killing these people for someone else's mission. He had issues he needed to settle with himself. And because of that, he made sure to vanish from Ueitawa.

---------

The man opened his eyes, as he sat against a wall within one of the tower's corridors. Being in this place was bringing up memories of the past, and it wasn't pleasant. He should have been thanking Yachiru, as this was a chance for him to fix alot of the problems he caused in the past. He took a drag from his cigarette, as he felt the tower shake, and release a breath of smoke. "Win or Lose, after tonight, I'm finally ridding myself of this guilt. Even if I have to work with those brats to do it."
