Appearance: Kino is average height, standing at around 173cm. He has a slender build and weighs 61kg. He has slightly tanned skin and dark brown hair that comes halfway down his neck. It feathers out in the back just below his ears. He has hazel eyes and wears black, top-framed glasses which he needs to see much of anything. His normal attire is a mix of formal and punk and he has no qualms with crossdressing if he feels like it.

Personality: Kino looks and acts a lot more outgoing than he actually is. He's always found it hard to fit in or interact with people so he tends to superficially change who he is to fit the wants and needs of others. Underneath the facade he's actually rather shy and reluctant to truly open up to anyone, growing angry and defensive if someone he doesn't completely trust tries to pry at him. However, other than these occasions he's normally quite slow to anger and generally very agreeable.

The Background

History: Hikari Tsukino was born to a Japanese father and a Polynesian mother. He spent most of his early life living between Hawaii and Japan before his family discovered and moved to Arozes when he was 9. The year previous his mother had given birth to a baby girl, Kona. He had a very positive relationship with his parents and still does with his mother.

When he was 12 his father and sister were involved in a car accident while he and his mother stayed home. His father was killed and Kona's right leg was injured leaving her with a permanent limp. Kino still suffers from survivor's guilt and is extremely protective of his sister. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, Kino has a very strong relationship with both his mother and sister. He and his mom helped each other a lot in the months following the accident and she's oone of the few people he feels he can talk to no matter what. After the death of his father his mother was forced to work full time to support the three of them. Being professionally trained and having worked as one before meeting her husband she became a doctor. Because of this Kino grew up looking after the house and Kona.

He's been attending Zela Academy since he was a freshmen and is now a Junior at the academy. Because of having to look after his sister and the house while his mother works he is unable to live in the dorms and commutes to school every day. He works part time as a waiter to help make his way through school and support his family. His school life has improved since he was a kid but he still doesn't have many friends. He was bullied rather severely as a child and has issue with self esteem as a result. His survivor's guilt only made these worse and he's been diagnosed as clinically depressed. His dream in life is to be a nurse and help people like his mom does.
