there’s no particular drug that i love
Aspirin, Codeine, Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, Doxylamine; it was impessive how many painkillers could be bought over a counter, with no questions asked. No need for prescriptions or mentions of pain, just walk up to the desk and list off every pill you knew. And that’s exactly what Rin had done, she’d mentioned every brand name and generic drug she could think of, and wandered out of the store several thousand yen poorer, but a sack of loot richer.
With a black shopping bag stuffed full pills, Rin could already feel her mood rising. She’d had an abysmal morning, thanks to her drunk landlord knocking on her door at some ungodly hour to tell her about the wonders of vodka (yes, thank-you, as if she didn’t know already how wonderful shots were), but knowing that she not only had the night off from the club, but could spend her night popping pills and watching bad movies? It was enough to make any substance abusing goth happy to be alive.
Her knee-high boots clicking against the concrete pavement, she made a b-line towards a nearby bench, gently sitting herself down and resting her shopping bag on her lap. Which to take first... The Ibuprofen-Codeine mixtures were the strongest; those were the ones that could have you flying in minutes with only a few doses more than necessary, though also lead to the risk of utterly destroying her liver. She bit down on an unnaturally colorless lip, brow furrowing as she considered her choices of drug.
So caught up in her thoughts, Rin didn’t even notice when a couple of timid high-school boys approached her, their faces bright red and hands shaking as they stared at the pigtailed young woman.
"E-excuse us,” one called, his face going even redder when Rin glanced up at him and raised an eyebrow. “Uh, a-are you, um, Miru Rin?” The woman in question nodded, a faint smile reaching her mouth. The boys were so cute; so innocent and desperate for her attention that she couldn't bring herself to feel offended when the two pulled several thousand yen out of their pockets and hesitantly offered it to her, averting their eyes as they did so. Poor boys, they must have heard the rumours of the pretty goth neesan taking anyone with cash into the back room of BLACK CAT for an extra special service.
With a sigh, Rin held up a hand, indicating for the two young men to stop.
"Sorry," she begun, crossing one long, slender leg over the other, "But you've got the wrong idea, boys," their faces fell and Rin couldn't contain a short, sharp laugh at their expense. She'd never seen someone look so painfully disappointed at being rejected. "Although... When I'm at work, I tend to get a little more... open to playing with cute little guys like you two." Letting her voice trail off, Rin winked and watched the two high schoolers nod furiously and dart off, whispering to each other about the 'hot' neesan who they thought had promised them a good time.
Ugh, kids these days were so easily mislead. It almost made Rin feel guilty. She reached into her bag, pulling out a packet of Asprin, popped a pill out of the packet and shoved it down her throat, settling into the bench for a fun day of people watching.

Genji hated being sick. He was someone that was too busy to get sick. Sickness was one of his mortal enemies, constantly rearing its ugly head in Genji's life. He would have to get some medicine at the pharmacy. He quickly ran out there without any incident. It was rather easy for him to get what he needed. He made sure that he knew what was available in what places, so he didn't have to waste much time finding his salvation, medicine! As he walked into the pharmacy, he immediately went to the aisle with his medicine. As he picked it up, he looked over and found a woman slightly older than he was carrying a lot of pills with her. She was grabbing many pills and went to the counter in order to buy them. Genji made sure that he got in line behind her, he was actually worried about this woman's health.
Genji ended up following her, wondering where she was going. It wasn't a stalker following, though. He was actually heading home that way as well, she just happened to be in front of him. The possibilities ran through his head. He hoped that she was an addict or anything like that. He was actually concerned for her well being. Being on the Disciplinary Committee wasn't just about caring about students. Genji was someone who cared about all people. This woman could possilby need help.
Genji "followed" her until she sat down on a bench. He then saw a bunch of high school boys come over to her. They seemed like they wanted something from her. She told them about playing with boys like them. It was another red flag that flew into the air for Genji. Just who was this woman. He thought about it, then remembered who she was. She was Miru Rin, a woman who apparently would have sex with high schoolers. Genji had no idea whether these rumors were true or not, but he ended up saying something a little too loud. All he said was, "What the hell," but this was probably enough to get a reaction from anyone who overheard him.

Somewhere, in the labyrinth of Nadashiki's alleys, someone fell to his knees.
Clutching at his chest, Abel searched frenetically on his pockets with one hand, yet, the tremendous pain on his chest made the task difficult. Pocket after pocket, he kept searching with no results until finally he found what he was searching for.
With trembling fingers, he examined the drug, a sublingual nitroglycerin tablet. The only one he had left. And he may need more than that... If that was the case, it might very well be finally game over for him.
Without loosing a second, he popped the tablet and placed it under his tongue, where it slowly begun to dissolve. For a few minutes, the boy just remained on his knees as it begun to take effect... This time the God of Chemicals was smiling upon him, for the pain started to go away... He had been lucky, very lucky...
However, he didn't have so much luck with the side effects. With his head pounding, his tongue burning and a raging boner, he tried to get up, what wasn't easy thanks to how dizzy he felt. However, to accomplish that he could rely on a friend he was sure it would never leave him hanging, the wall.
After a few moments, Abel begun tumbling like a helter-skelter on his way to the nearest pharmacy. He was out of danger already, but there wasn't anything he wanted more on this world than a freaking aspirin. He swore to god that If he didn't get one right now his head might explode out of pain.
People looked at him as he erratically advanced like a centipede lacking a leg, yet, he didn't notice them, he practically wasn't aware of his surroundings and there wasn't room in his head right now for anything other than the headache and the painkillers.
Finally, when he was near the pharmacy already, the albino tripped and fell to the floor right before a gothic girl in a bench, his face hitting the cruel pavement.
More hurt on his dignity than physically, Abel made a supreme effort to get up, however, he wasn't able to resume his way to the pharmacy, so he pushed himself to sit on the bank without even noticing the girl as the sweated teenager stared to the blue sky, waiting to recover some of his strength.

(Sorry Rin, you were gone for too long, so we posted ahead.)
"Holy shit, are you okay?" Genji shouted, running towards the white haired boy that was about his age. Genji heart started beating fast, sweat started to drip down the side of his face. He couldn't see others hurt and seeming to die in front of him. He's saved far too many people as a lifeguard in order to just sit around and watch this guy die. When he got to the guy, he learned that he was going to be okay, but he was really weak and couldn't stand, it seemed. Genji settled down once he realized that he was okay. His breathing slowed down to a normal pace, as did his heart. He felt exhausted from the ordeal, but he couldn't just sit down. He needed to know if the guy was okay. He glanced down at him and asked, "Is there anything I can do to help?" He didn't know if there was anything that he could actually do, but he thought he might as well try anyway. He just didn't want to feel that he was helpless in this situation. Genji knew that there was always a way to help people, whether it be actually picking him up, or taking him to the hospital, or even just talking to him to make him feel better. Genji decided to stay with this guy and hope that he will be better soon. He would also help him out if he needed it. But there were a few things blocking the way. He didn't even know this guy's name, nor did he introduce himself. He figured he should start with that as well. "I hope that you're going to be okay, My name's Kano Genji, what's yours?"

Around him, the world was a diffuse swirl of color and light, deformed shapes that held no meaning for him going through his eyes in circles and circles without pause, his head bursting in pain with each heartbeat. Yet he didn't even notice anymore, his head bowing down from its own weight... He felt so, so tired out of sudden...
From the distance, Abel heard a blurred voice shouting... Or was it just an hallucination, product of his lowly irrigated brain?... He could not know...
However, the voice did not fade away. Instead, he heard it once again, it's words unidentifiable still, but obviously real. Taken away from his way towards unconsciousness, Abel looked up, observing yet another blurred dark shadow towering against him, the sun behind it leaving him unable to distinguish anything at all. Was it an angel?, Was it a demon?... Though maybe it just was the Grim Reaper, finally ready to harvest his worthless soul, insignificant as the one before it and the next one...
"W-water...", he muttered as his hands moved up to protect his eyes from the harmful light. Should he be confronting his end, a glass of water seemed like a fine last wish to make... At least that way he'd be able to feel life flowing through him before the lights turned off for the very last time.

Genji heard his weak voice cry for water. This guy must be out of it. Genji knew that he would be okay from now on, though. He would call an ambulance if he needed it, but now he had to focus on water. Genji would quickly scramble around in his bag for a bottle of water. He searched for a few seconds and found it. He grabbed the life saving bottle out of his bad, careful not to drop it or open it as it was lifted out of his bag. It was heavy, so there was water in it, even if it was open. Genji smiled to himself, but it was a rushed one, he still had someone who looked like he was dying on his hands.
He handed the bottle over to the guy in trouble. He hoped that the water would be enough to get him to settle down and get better. Genji had experience in dealing with people in trouble, but this was something new to him. Luckily, Genji was prepared. If there was anything that being a responsible, hard working student taught someone, it was that being prepared was golden. Genji was definitely prepared for a long day with his bottle of water. Luckily, he was able to help out this guy from basically getting worse. He sighed in relief, he did good for once. He just hoped that this guy would not get into another attack or something of the sort. Genji didn't have much experience with medicine, he couldn't heal this guy with his Persona, either. It was a lose lose situation if the guy would go under again, so Genji had to stay with him and make sure that he would be okay. But Genji wouldn't mind this. In fact, he didn't even think about it, it was just something he did.

Against his expectations, a bottle of water was handled down... 'Well... It could have been worse, couldn't it?', he thought as he reached for the bottle with an insecure, trembling hand.
Hastily, he gulped down half of the content of the bottle, pouring the rest of the not-so-cold water on his hair and head. Call it morbid curiosity, but Abel wanted to see how the end looked like.
However, when the water came into kissed him, refreshing his overexposed skin, the dizziness disappeared alongside the confusion, the world readopting its usual aspect. And then, as his mind slowly cleared, he realized that nor he was dying nor was it the Reaper the one in front of him... It was just some guy... He couldn't see him clearly because of the sun, but he could appreciate his superior height. and muscular build. "... Who... Are you?..." He said staring at the teenager before him with eyes still closed as he protected them with one of his hands...

Genji was so glad that he was okay. He sighed in relief as the guy downed his water and started shading his eyes. Genji made sure that he would get in a better position in order to shade his eyes better. He was happy that he was okay, he could now actually talk to the guy. Genji sniffled before he spoke,
"I'm so glad that you are okay. I was so worried that you weren't going to make it. My name is Kano Genji. What's yours? But never mind, that doesn't matter right now. Are you sure that you are okay? Do you need to go to the hospital or anything like that? If you need to, I'll make sure you get there. I don't want you waking towards the light again. That was terrifying. But I'm glad that you are okay for now."
Genji was still on edge a little. He didn't know what was wrong with him. At least he settled for now. He didn't know how long it would last, though. The guy looked like he was having a heart attack or something. Genji looked him over. He seemed sickly. Was he an ill person? Was he one of those people who were constantly in the hospital? He looked the type. With an episode like that, Genji was pretty sure that he was one. Not even adults go through episodes like that. Genji decided he would stay a little longer, just to make sure that he was truly okay.

'Kano... Genji Kano...', thought Abel as he observed him, really seeing him now for the first time now that he had moved a little... This guy... The longer he looked at him, the more sure Abel was that he had seen him before.
And then he realized. The Kizuna Academy. That's where he remembered him from.
Immediately, Abel was back on his feet. This made him dizzy again but he didn't care. This person went with him to the Kizuna Academy. Even if they didn't go to the same class, which they didn't, he could see him anywhere at any time on the installations. It was just a matter of time that their paths crossed again and that could mean his condition being revealed.
His knees trembled, Abel was barely able to stand and yet his feet where planted on the spot with a will of steel. He wouldn't allow it, he wouldn't let anyone humiliate him with their pity... When he left home, he made himself a promise... That as long as the flame burnt inside him, no one would ever look at him as his parents did.
And thus, the soul struggled with the body as Abel did his best to look unperturbed, as if nothing of this had happened. "My name is Abel. And yes, I'm fine.", he said, trying to sound calm and convincing... But his voice was weak and jagged. "It was just the heat... Because of being an albino I can't be on the sunlight for too long", he added, looking towards the skies as he put his hands on his pockets. "Now I'll be leaving, thanks for the water.".
Gathering all of his will, he took a step forward and then another towards the pharmacy. There were just ten meters left, he could do it!. Tentatively, he put one foot after the other, one step, two steps, three steps, four steps... Sweat ran through his face, but he was almost there... The only thing he had to do was to hold a little longer...
But on the seventh step, his muscles seemed to loose all of their strength, turning into jello as he landed once again on the floor like an old ragdoll. 'F-fuck...', thought the teenager as he clenched his teeth, trying to incorporate once again.

"Shit," was all that Genji could shout as he ran towards Abel, the guy he just met today. He fell over, more like crumbled onto the ground. Genji heard him say something about being albino... It didn't make much sense, why would he be out here all alone, then? Genji quickly shook his head. It didn't matter right now. There was hardly anyone around, so it was his life that was on Genji's hands.
He felt his body jump into his saving mode again. He did it often as a lifeguard. Since he saved others year round, he knew the feeling well. His heart would start beating faster. His vision became sharper. Time seemed to slow down to him, but seemed quicker to others. He heard the stories of what this kind of feeling does to you. Other have told him about his own reaction to it. It wasn't exactly adrenaline, but it certainly was close to it.
He got to Abel fast. Very fast. He quickly fumbled around in his head for what to do. Would life guard tactics work here? It was worth a try. The ambulance wouldn't really come fast enough. But he tried calling... But he didn't have his phone on him. It was charging at home... This was bad... Very very bad. He had no choice, now. It was either abandon him to go find help or try his hardest on keeping this guy alive. He first checked if he was still breathing, he also checked if his heart was still breathing. He made sure that his body was in a position that wouldn't harm him later on. He called out to Abel, "Don't go out on me now, is there anything that you need me to do? Can you even hear me?" He certainly hoped that Abel heard him, he wasn't going to let him die here.

Sooner than he knew, Abel had Genji all over him, treating him like a first aid practice doll, checking his pulse and breath and everything.
Embarrassed and furious, Abel pushed Genji away from him as hard as he could. And despite his state, he was no weakling.
"Bugger. Off.", he said with an ice cold tone that accepted no complaint. Once he was clear of that overreacting idiot. He slowly got on his knees and looked around. Surrounding them, there were a few people, obviously attracted by the scene set up by Genji. His crimson gaze inspected each of them. All looked concerned, yes... But none of them was actually doing anything to help him at all... Well, what could he expect after all?... Such was the rotten nature of those little motherfuckers. They were sorry enough to pity him but deep inside they didn't give a fuck about him. They were just there fir their own sick twisted pleasure. One didn't have the chance to see a man agonizing everyday after all... If he only could, he would give them a taste of their kindness, yet he knew that his chance to do so would never come.
Nauseated because of so much decadence and hypocrisy, he attempted to get up and get the fuck out of there already, yet he couldn't. No matter how hard he tried, he was too weak as of now.
Bowing his head towards the ground in total silence, Abel felt the fury boiling up, bathing every cell of his body, running wild through his veins and being pumped by his defective heart in overwhelming waves... He wanted to howl, he wanted to roar. He wanted vengeance on the world.
Yet, he didn't. He just remained there, on his knees. Still and in silence... Yet, despite his apparent iced calmness, something about him looked incredibly threatening, as if he was about to burst in a storm of fire and brimstone... Yet his silence was about to be broken.
"You", he said to Genji without even turning his head towards him. He then remained in silence for a few seconds as he struggled to swallow his pride... "Just... Help me get to the goddamn pharmacy", he finally spit with the pained tone of someone that had given up.
Never had defeat tasted so bitter.

Genji was used to helping people. It was his life, really. With him being a Persona User and him being on Student Council. There was also the fact that he was a lifeguard was another thing. Genji has been surrounded by the fact that he had the power to help people for almost all of his High School career. Even before joining the Disciplinary Committee or being a User. He's been a lifeguard a lot longer.
But why can't he help someone out now? Why can't he simply help and person and have them thank him for the help? It wasn't a concept that Genji experienced very much in his life. He rarely meets someone who gets angry for his help. But here Genji is, being pushed over and knocked onto the ground by an angry teenager about his age for helping him when he was in need. Genji was nonetheless shocked by this. It didn't occur to him that he was embarrassing this poor guy. Nor did it occur to him that he was the only one who was willing to help.
As he got up, he looked around. The people who gathered were now staring at the two of them and the "scene" that they were making. Genji was probably about just as embarrassed as Abel was with the situation. Not only did he cause the embarrassment for himself by failing to help him out, but he also caused the embarrassment for someone else, who honestly didn't need it right now. Genji heard him painfully ask him to take him to the pharmacy. Genji had no idea why he wanted to go there and not a hospital, but he figured that any objection would be more harmful than good. Genji would just listen to him.
"Let's get you going...," was all that he could say. He helped him up and started to move him towards the pharmacy, he didn't look at anyone else. The guilt that he had right now was crushing. He felt horrible. He felt like he was going to throw up. The pain that he caused would probably always be there. It would be something that they would both remember if they were to ever meet again. Genji didn't know how to apologize for all of this and kept his mouth shut. He didn't want to say anything. Guilt was crushing and merciless, Genji knew that far too well.
Genji's Traits:
Spoiler:
—Weakness Name: Guilt —Description: Genji often feels guilty for many things, especially over his parents divorce. This seems to almost have scarred him in a way of guilt, since the divorce, he feels guilty for silly things more often.

Supporting himself on Genji, Abel got back on his feet and together, they both slowly advanced towards the entrance of the pharmacy.
'Is this it?', thought Abel as he grabbed onto Genji, 'Is this how my days will end?, Reduced to an invalid, having to depend on the charity of a stranger to do everything for me?', No, that was no way to make an exit, trapped in a crippled body, chained by god knows how many tubes inserted in how many orifices and encased between the cold white walls of a hospital, with the vile smell of disease and death reminding him he wouldn't get out of there... But the only other option...
He could escape it all now and here, get his medicines and swallow a bunch of them the moment this guy turned his head away and he'd be dead before they could get him to the hospital. The end of pain, his swift end, were at hand, as they had been for months now. He only had to reach for them...
... But for some reason, he just couldn't do it... Was it weakness of will, or strength of heart?
"... Heh... Strength of Heart...", he spoke, not caring of who heard him... How ironic would that be...
Abel glanced aside, looking at his helper's face. The surprise was visible in Abel's face, he looked ashamed!... Incredibly ashamed on top of it... Was it because of what had just happened?...
It took a bit for him to shake the astonishment, moment on which he turned his head forward and looked down a little, the shadows covering his eyes... "Be proud.", he said, "Be proud of your greatest mistakes, for they define who you are..."
Abel's hand tensed on Genji's shoulder, clawing at it like the talons of a bird of prey, "Look at yourself", he said very calmly, "My vision might be blurry and not quite good, but I'm not blind... You... You fool, you are the pride of Utopia."
As he talked, Abel's mouth turned into an hybrid of a smirk and a hateful snarl, twisted with a bitterness that could be felt in every word he spoke. "Unluckily for you... Your compassion will also be your demise... There is no place for those who genuinely will well. Only for the ruthless."
Soon, they had already reached the door of the pharmacy. Together, they approached the counter, where a rather shocked dependent was observing them as they drew near.
Searching with his free hanging hand on his pocket, Abel took out a pair of papers and put them on the counter. They were recipes. "Sublingual nitroglycerin tablets. Two packages.", he said, to which the attending girl nodded and went to fetch the medicine to the back room, for such a dangerous medicine was always stored there so it could not be stolen or consumed by curious small children, for an excessive dose could easily kill.

Genji listened to all of the random phrases and words that Abel would say to himself. If anything, a normal person would have thought that Abel was crazy, but Genji wasn't a normal person. He lost that with his Persona. Genji was thinking about what happened. He figured that being albino was not the only thing that was wrong with Abel. There had to be something worse going on. He didn't want to bring it up with Abel. He seemed like a broken person already. It was sad, but it was true, more than likely.
He then realized what Abel was saying. He was insulting him! Genji didn't want to be insulted. But what could he do? Would he just dump him, of course not. He embarrassed him thorugh his help. Maybe Genji deserved it? Genji didn't know what to think, but he would say something back. He couldn't just sit around being insulted. He couldn't brush it off right here, but he wouldn't be mean about it.
"You know, I may be a fool. I may bring my own demise. But you know what? I'm helping you out right now. That's what I want to do. It's what I live for. I love helping people. Nothing will ever change that. If you think I'm a fool, go ahead. It may bring my own demise, but I'll be happy with that. It's what makes me happy and makes me happy with living. I don't know what you live for, but I'm certainly not going to just sit around and let you insult me for it. But I'll still help you, because you need it."
He would watch as Abel buy some of his prescriptions. He would wait for Abel to be done so he could know what he would need to do next.

Abel mentally facepalmed. Even if this guy was a good person, he wasn't the sharpest tool in the box. Not if he couldn't distinguish between a praise and an insult.
Once the attendant returned, she grabbed the recipes and inspected them, giving the two small packages to Abel once she was done, "Here you have sir...", she said, her voice full of pity "... I'm... Sorry for your condition"
Abel's expression hardened, turning into an scowl, "Everyone is.", he dryly. Without regards, he took the powerful arterial dilator from her hands and stored it on his pockets, greatly annoyed by the young dependent's indiscretion, "Let's go... We are done here.", he told Genji.
Once they turned and got on their way towards the door, Abel spoke... "... You didn't notice, but all these things I just said were to praise you...", he confessed as he looked down, "I saw that you were feeling guilty and I wanted to try to make you feel better... I don't know what you think about me... But without you, I would have had to crawl like a dog to get my medicine... I... Am thankful to you", he admitted as he closed his eyes. He didn't like owing anything to anyone, but Genji had helped him when he needed help, saving his dignity... And for some reason, that made him want Genji to know the truth about how he really felt, even if it meant putting down his though guy appearance for a moment.
