Just a Peek

Genji found himself walking the streets of Hayabusa walking home from work. It was a pretty easy day and he was almost home. He went to a vending machine and bought a bottle of tea when he found an odd door staring him in the face. It was a door similar to the door that he saw in his "friend's house" while his Persona was awakened. He hasn't used his Persona at all, but he wanted to try it out.

It wasn't that he thought all of this was a game. There was a reason why he wanted to go in. He needed to get as strong as his friends, Naito and Ejji. He didn't know exactly how strong they were, but he thought of them to be very strong. Even if he would surpass them, something he never would think he would be able to do, then he would still consider them to be more experienced than him. He couldn't be a burden to them. If they got hurt protecting him, he would feel guilty. He tried to cut back on his guilt, but he would feel horrible about it.

He looked at the door once more, grabbed the handle, and went inside. What he saw was odd to him. This wasn't the Limbo that he saw in his awakening, this was completely different. When he walked in, he was on a large platform looking structure, below him was an endless abyss, one that never seemed to end. There were also numerous bridges scattered around as far as his eyes could see. It was a different place, but Genji knew of it to be Limbo.

He felt a heavy sensation on his back. He took his hand and started to touch his back, but he instead touched a metal object. He searched around his back a little and found a large handle, he grabbed in and pulled it off of his back. He looked at the weapon. It was a large black lance, about a half a foot taller than him. He stared at the lance in shock, he had no idea how he got this. He wondered if it had something to do with his awakening. But he didn't think about that. He started to hear strange noises from all around him. They were probably the monsters, or shadows that roamed this plane. Genji looked at the lance and awkwardly held it, being his first time using it. He adjusted his grip a little and prepared for whatever would jump out at him.

When this newcomer wandered into the disproportional plains, all remained still for several seconds. Almost like it was analyzing who had entered its endless abyss, and what their purpose was. The land itself began to twist and turn as various platforms began to form before the boy who entered. They beckoned him to continue further into the madness that was Limbo, and also wished to lead him away from his speedy exit like the previous student used. This proved one thing, and that was whatever Limbo was it was learning. The same trick of hanging around the exit wouldn't work twice on it, so if this boy wished to see what the world offered he'd need to follow the bridges made to the next platform where his safe haven was out of reach.

Genji knew that this was stupid, very stupid. He figured that they wouldn't show up so close to the door, it was almost like this was somewhat of a safe zone, at least, it was now. Genji figured that the shadows were smarter than any monster he has read in a book or watched on TV, these were real, they didn't want him there. He felt himself walk toward the second platform across the bridge, trusting that his Persona wouldn't let him down. He was still close enough to run, but if he ran, it would be an hard task, but doable. He just had to make sure that he didn't go overboard. He had to do this for his friends, he had to.

Genji thought it over once again. He thought it would be stupid if he would go too far into Limbo, it definitely wasn't safe and dying would be bad, it would make it worse for the three of them. Genji quickly turned back and ran out of there as fast as he could.
