Kogoro was born with jet black hair. His hair extends long past his shoulders, and fall down to just past his knee's. It lays somewhat messy, a long strand falling between his ruby red eyes. He stand up to 5' 10.5" tall, just a bit taller than most people. He wears a dark black suit, with a white dress shirt underneath and a black tie around his neck. Despite this professional clothing, he isn't very business like.

Personality:

Awkward. That is possibly the best word to describe Kogoro. Ever since he cut himself off from personal interaction, no one has ever gotten to know this young man. Though his face is always stoic, never showing emotion at any time, he isn't despondent to emotions, and is somewhat carefree, and enjoys to smile and laugh and joke. Of course, he has never spoken or had interaction with anyone for years, so he grew accommodated to keeping a blank face. Aside from his "regular" side, he is also very wary, and very serious towards people who he doesn't know or trust. This trait is what makes him seem to be an introvert, a hermit in society who's trying to hide from everyone.

—Description: Living as a hermit, cut off from society, Kogoro has learned to avoid people, to become a part of the shadows and make himself invisible to most people.

—Strength Name: Foraging
—Description: Being on his own, and with no job for money, he had to learn how to forage for food in alleys, streets and how to hunt rats and birds.

—Strength Name: Basic Cooking
—Description: To go along with his foraging skills, he learned how to cook animals, and also learned what some very basic ingredients look and even smell like.

—Strength Name: Pick Pocketing/Thievery
—Description: Not having much money, or a job, he learned how to pick pocket money from people, and how to sneak bread, food and even bottles of water away from people at stands.

Weaknesses:

—Weakness Name: Paranoia
—Description: Because of his past, and his own current experiences, Kogoro is paranoid of everyone he meets, which often scares people off.

—Weakness Name: Social Anxiety
—Description: After being in hiding for long periods of time, Kogoro's social skills have slowly deteriorated until he's even afraid to talk to people of his own volition. But, if someone approaches him, and he decides to trust them, he forgets his anxiety entirely.

—Weakness Name: Sickly
—Description: Due to his living in somewhat of an unhealthy environment with no major nutrition, Kogoro's immune system is not as strong as it should be and he gets sick easier than most people.

—Weakness Name: Arachnophobia
—Description: Spiders. These small creepy crawlies, or anything that looks similar to them, shoot fear into Kogoro. He doesn't know why, but the shape, feel, and the looks of spiders scares him to no end. As Kogoro once said "....too many eyes".

Shadow Weapon Description: The sword has a silver hilt, like the shadows namesake, with a guard on it that juts out and up, and a smaller set at the base of the blade. The blade is 4 feet long and black, like the shadow that makes it. It has silver kanji, looking like something of a seal, inscribed directly at the base of the pitch black metal.

The Background

History:
Kogoro had a rough start in life. It all began when the owner of an orphanage found him in rags on her doorstep. He grew up playing with other orphans, never feeling alone. He had as much of an education that they could provide, which wasn't much. They taught the kids up to 9th grade, and then hoped that families would take them, and give them a good education. Day after day, his friends would be adopted, and he would lose one more person to play with. He began to feel alone, as if the world had abandoned him, just as his mother left him that night.
This went on for months, and the Orphanage mother and her husband even began to worry if anyone would take Kogoro, as no one who came for a interview ever wanted him. Until one day, when he was just 8 years old, a woman came to the Orphanage and said they wanted to take him, and that they had many other children he could play with. At this moment, Kogoro knew he would leave with that woman no matter what anyone said. He wouldn't be alone anymore
After all adoption papers were filled out, he was taken outside, where a black limo was waiting for him. As he stepped inside, the woman lit a cigarette and looked at him. She explained to him that she was from an organization called the Yachiru group. She explained he would be taken care for, fed, and given an education as well as other kids to be around. Happiness was the first feeling he got as he was taken into the facility and shown where he would stay with all the other kids. The woman explained to him one last thing before he was left alone in his room with his roommates. That he will be one of many children undergoing experiments. She said the experiments will make his life better, and happier. Kogoro couldn't be happier.
Weeks into the experiments he began to hear the words "shadow" and "merging". He also began to feel weak and drained after the experiments. He even began having nightmares and waking up in the night sweating. He had dreams of a black figure grabbing onto him, and forcing itself down his throat and into his body. He became scared, and started to ask the scientists if he could stop the shots and experiments. They told him no, of course, his data was valuable and needed. They told him "this is all to give you a better life". He began to doubt that.
Months later around his 14th birthday, after his cake and party with all the other orphans who were test subjects, the scientists said he was ready for the final stage in the testing, that he would be able to live a normal life now. They took him into a chamber, white and empty but with machinery all around. They turned on the machines and suddenly electricity could be heard all around him.
And then suddenly the room went dark, and all he could hear was the um of the machines. Then, the room glowed with a pale green light, and he saw a hand come out of the ground, black as tar. His eyes went large and he screamed, backing up against the wall. He heard the scientists say to calm down, everything would be okay. But he was facing the thing in his nightmares. The black holes in the beings mask, where a regular face should have been. He felt his body get weak and he fell to his knees as he felt it get closer. He asked them why this was happening. They said that the injections given to him were fragments of this...thing. He was told that all the kids were injected with the same thing, and they checked to see if their bodies withstood the new substance bonding with them. Some died, which is why he saw more kids disappearing, but didn't pay any mind because of the tests and large size of kids. He managed to survive and was the first one of the day for the final step of the testing. He felt his body shift towards shift towards the black being, the fragments inside his body wanting to become one again. He screamed, as just like in his dreams the being surrounded his body and went down his throat, into his body. The only thing left of the being was its mask, which was placed onto his own face before pain racked his body. He felt moving inside his body and felt something changing inside him something...becoming him. When it was over, the mask fell off and the lights came back on and scientists came in, saying that it was a success. He hated them since, he didn't even know what they did to him.
Weeks later, when they were given time to walk around freely, he and the other kids, the ones who survived, still didn't know what to do. But Kogoro wanted to leave, and he knew now would be his biggest chance. He took clothes from his birthday, given to him by the female scientist who took him from the orphanage and ran, ran as fast as he could run. He got past all the guards with the help of others, others who had been experiment on like him and wanted freedom, and ran past the gate. He ran and ran until he and the few others who escaped couldn't run anymore. He took off his clothes quickly, and even used a sharp rock to take out his detector they placed in his arm. He tended the wound and put on his new clothes, and ran away into the city, hiding until the present time, still being hunted by the group today, just as others like him who took the same chance he did and ran are. Kogoro did what he had to do. He disappeared into the shadows of society, and became forgotten to the world.
