Persona Background:
- Born from Nyx and Erebus and brother of Thanatos and Hypnos as well as one of the lovers of Calliope, husband of Iris and father of Orpheus (though it is said as well that his father was Hypnos and his mother Pasithea, the godess of relaxation and hallucinations and daughter of Hera and Dyonissus), Morpheus reigns supreme over the lands of his eternally sleeping brother and over all of those, both mortal and divine, that fall under the power of Hypnos. It is well known that Morpheus has a deep brotherly love for Hypnos, for he is always taking care of him, making sure that no sound nor disturbance interrupts his peaceful sleep. He is the origin of all dreams and nightmares, which he uses to transmit the messages of other gods to men, grant them wisdom and either reward or punish them. As such, he became one of the Eternals, which control the different aspects of reality. Morpheus is said to be one of the most merciless and cruelest of both the Eternals and the greek deities, even more than his brother Thanatos, however, he is no sadist like him.
- He is known to have acted as a catalyst all throughout history, shaping the world and the lives of the individuals thanks to his power over their dreams, he also gathers all of the dreams and stories ever imagined by every single man and archives them in the form of books in the greatest library in all the planes of reality.
- Though most times he is aloof and tends to ignore the faults and offenses of humans against him, Morpheus can be very revengeful. This was show when recently he managed to free himself from a collective of English wizards that had imprisoned him for eighty years. Now, these wizards suffer forever, trapped on a nightmare with no end in Morpheus's realm.
Meaning:
- Morpheus is the incarnation of Abel's previous dreamy personality as well as of the dreams, the worlds, the plans and the hopes for the future his mind once created and that were lost, his entire life becoming unfinished projects of reality, dreams, and thus, unreal, left to rest on his realm forever.
- He is as well a representation of Abel's anguish and awareness caused because of this. Abel knows that his entire life will soon be archived on Morpheus library, as if he had never existed.
- Morpheus's personality, cruel and aloof, matches Abel's views on the world and fate. It doesn't care about him at all and does not care wether or not it stomps on him or not.
