Just a Regular Kid (For Tatum):

It just started as a regular day on a stroll around Sunlake Palms park. Perfectly normal.
Birds are chirping, flowers are blooming.
On days like this, kids like the one playing with a stick and a squirrel running at top speed at me should be-
Wait what?
What the fu-
I feel something scurry by me, and shortly after, some kid slamming into me.
I make some sort of pained noise as a result.
"What the heck? Watch where you're going, kid. Geez..." I say. It's mostly her fault for being so damn reckless. And mine for not paying attention.
But mostly hers.
"Weren't you like that once?" My constant companion says while mentally chuckling.
"...That was a long time ago. Besides, this is your body too, you know." I answer. He's kind enough to leave it at that. I don't like talking about my past before... well... THAT point in time.
That day was so horrible...

At that moment, I snap myself out of it. Back to the matter at hand. The kid.
"Just what the heck were you doing anyways?" I ask her.

Today was a beautiful day for Mr. Nuttinton. He figured he could go out and get some nuts and berries for his home. Sadly, the nuts and berries seem to be a bit further from home than usual. He would have to take the risk. The dogs and cats and birds were bad enough, but there was one beast in question that terrified him the most. From what he could gather, the beast had no interest in eating him, but sadly the beast could not understand his language either. If only he could understand what the beast wanted?

At any rate, he had to risk it. It should be around time to start stockpiling, right? So he heads out to get the much needed food. It was going easy, so far. Plenty of food to stuff in his mouth to carry home. This might be an incident less day.

That was... until the beast came, dark and with strange colors, sneaking up on Mr. Nuttinton. The shadow was the tell tale sign, but nothing was as frightening as the terrifying cry the beast made whenever it found him.

"SQUIRREL!" the beast would cry out! Out of all the creatures in the area, this one was one of the biggest, a towering giant with strange sounds and massive hands intend on grabbing it. This time it was armed with a branch, no doubt to help it catch him. Mr. Nuttinton knew that he had to make a quick escape if he was to make it back in one piece. But he made a grave error! He was too far from his tree, and the giant was one who does not tire like other creatures that chased him.

The chase went on for a while, the giant crying out "Squirrel squirrel squirrelly squirrel!" as it ran after him. But there was salvation. Another giant, much bigger than the one chasing him. If he could get the two to crash into each other, they would be too distracted to notice him escaping.

But he had to be quick. One false move and it was all over.

So he ran up the strange leg of the giant, reaching for the top, then jumping off at the last minute. Success! He was able to make his clean get away! It was time to get back home before the smaller of the giants noticed him.

Meanwhile, the "giant" was busy apologizing to the one she crashed into.

"Sorry, sorry, I saw a squirrel and I wanted to catch it!" she replied, offering a hand to pull him up. "Are you okay? I didn't break any bones, did I? I was running full speed!"

"No... but dang it, kid. Watch where you're going. Geez." I say as I get to my feet. I look at a nearby tree to see the squirrel. Is it laughing at us? Geez, such a little rodent can be so cute, yet so annoying. Wait. That gives me an idea...
"Hey kid. How badly do you want that squirrel?" I ask her. Normally, I wouldn't do it... but today. .. well...
I'm in a bad mood, frankly.
And that squire just became target number 1.

"Huh? O-oh, I couldn't ask you of that!" she replied quickly, holding up her hands in a motion more reminiscent of claiming to be unarmed.

"I just wanted to catch the squirrel and see if he wanted to be a pet! You don't have to get yourself involved, n-no worries." She looked up at the squirrel on the tree, itself giving a quick look before rushing into it's tree barrow.
