Serenade [Brittany]

George had to admit that the Academy was well built. But of course, it had that veneer with how new it was and that it had the Government's funding put into it. This was the place where people could nurture their talents and support their Governments once they hit the peak of their growth. He wasn't too terribly interested in going to school, since he already had his fill of compulsory education after reaching a certain age and education level.

He was just here killing time since the labs were once more formulating information for him for that demonic composition he came up with last night. With his footsteps softly echoing in the lonely hallway, the man continued to examine his quiet surroundings and took in the view.

Having been hidden away under lock and key, George never had much of a normal childhood like many of his peers. There really was a lack of concern of him being socially stunted, at least until he finally matured. He actually handled many of the meetings well despite being coddled so much. It gave a false sense of confidence that he could continue the Touzaki line. Yet, the pressures of getting him to start courtship with the opposite sex began to draw more attention where he didn't want it.


He finally opened the door to a classroom, peering into its interior. It was the first time entering one. It looked like what he saw in mass media, numerous desks arranged in a cluster for multiple students to sit in and attend lessons. George walked in and began to look around, as if taking in the view around him. In his mind, he registered and acknowledged this was a classroom. It didn't seem very special in any case being mostly empty except for one young woman.

She stood out being the only person around except for him. Clearly, she was absorbed by the entertainment potential locked inside her small cellular device as evidenced by the blatant exposure of her legs on the desk and--

George looked to the side, tight-lipped and started to flush a very light pink. He decided to just look elsewhere and see what else this example of a classroom had. That's right, just ignore and act normal. That will totally go well. Right? ...Right?

Well, of course it wouldn't be that easy.

Coming into this classroom was definitely going to garner the young girl's attention. He wondered how awful it would've been if it was a full class while the professor was still in the middle of his lecture, perish that thought. Seeing such a cheery lady smiling at him, George started to feel the pressure. Despite having helped out his father in negotiations with family leaders and other business representatives, the man had such difficulty pulling out words from his lips.

"N-no. Just a visitor. Just looking around," he stammered a bit.

He looked up and then immediately looked to the side as the girl still had her slender legs up there. There was something very obscene for a young man from a very conservative background. George was in a dilemma whether he should just let her know. Of course, he didn't want to sound weird or anything. But given his track record for awkwardness, his lot didn't seem bright for him.

But he finally said with his eyes to the side away from her, "You... might want to put your legs down."

George could already note that tone in her voice. He had hoped that maybe it wouldn't be awkward, but there it was, awkward as usual. But she seemed to have that bright personality smack that to the side. Legs down and the threat of underwear showing gone, he started to relax and started to look towards her. "Um well... I'm not a student, no. Just looking around."

Yes, that totally doesn't sound suspicious. But unfortunately for him, these implications were lost on him the same way how the Titanic sunk to be obfuscated by the freezing water for decades to come.

"I... well..." George hesitated at first. How could the Touzaki heir be this bashful? And walking around these halls would probably make him look more of a weirdo too, so it wouldn't hurt to have a student to talk with as he wasted time waiting for his project, "Sure, I could use someone to show me around."

"Bri. Ttany," George actually started to mouth out the name, as if trying to see if it really was, "Brittany. I see. It's a pleasure to meet you, Brit."

No, he did not see why it would be like a tongue twister. He wasn't sure why she brought it up, but didn't make much of an issue out of it. While vivacious and maybe somewhat pushy, she was rather kind. He had felt his knees feel weak.

"Oh-- no. I'm just a visitor here, Brit," he waved away her apology with a smile, "I have some personal business with this school and figured I might as well get familiar with it. Don't worry about it."

Personal business being he had come here to join the Cadets. Not so much get back into general education that the masses were required to take part before fully entering society. "So, can we begin?"

He took a moment to think about where he wanted to go next. The television sitcoms on high school life was only a small yet unrealistic window of what a teenager's young life was like outside of the enclaves he found himself locked inside for so long. Whenever he stopped studying for a small break, as a teenager, he found his eyes glued on the range of expressions portrayed. He thought life outside looked rather interesting, if somewhat uncomfortable with the amount of drama that could break out. But it was showing him something he never had as a child, friends.

"Perhaps the club rooms then," he slowly and deliberately thought out loud.

The sitcoms he saw never showed much about club life. Sure, some characters from the channels had some after school activities, but not much was shown unless it was central to the main cast's life.

"What are the classes like here, Brit?"

Lively, he would assume. Perhaps boring from what the student characters behind the screen seemed to experience. Yet he never was really bored when he breezing through his education. No matter how educated he was, George would always stay curious about things he never knew and experienced. This school, was one of them.

He followed after the girl, taking cursory glances at his changing environment the farther they kept walking. You wouldn't exactly call it a sterile environment, but the rooms were pretty new as the school just opened recently. Clearly there were some activity of varying levels inside the rooms doing whatever they do best other than listening to a teacher droning on about their daily lessons.

"Hm, interesting. I'd like to see what's it like. What the process is," George remarked to himself, "Test or not, they do need to screen for the best possible candidates to protect the city."

If anything, the Cadets helped to keep the city in motion with their protection. It was a very delicate set-up here. If these people weren't able to do their job, this whole city would fall apart. No one really wanted another Eternal Divide, after all.

"I take it you don't really have much interest in serving?" he asked curiously after glancing at another classroom they just passed by.

While he came here to kill time and see what this school had to offer, his interest is slightly brought over towards his guide.

He smiled gently at her response. She was actually more responsible than he gave her credit for. While young, didn't most students of her age simply go home or just spend time at the clubs? But he had a chuckle when imagining her quaffing plastic cups of coffee and pushing in donuts in her devouring maw. True enough, he couldn't exactly imagine someone as delicate as her taking up a tasking role as a Cadet. It might even be too much for her. But this Touzaki on the other hand...

"I see. Hm... by chance, what kind of work do you do?" George asked her curiously, "Aren't you a little young to be doing any work or are things a bit different here in the city?"
