The Champion's Castle [Deshi]

“Hmph!”

The sound came out lightly from Reaper as he let himself lower to the ground and sat for a moment on the floor of this strange castle. So he had won, huh? Well, perhaps he should've expected it. After all, he did not sweat and bleed all those months before hand just for show. He wanted to help others and fight back against the evils of the world and so he had. Still trained or not, for someone like Reaper, the battle was more challenging than for an average person. It took a ton of energy away from him forcing him to rest like he did now and this time without a certain hot-head poking him he was able to give himself the proper amount of rest needed to push himself back to his feet once more.

Steadying himself, he would look around at the area he was in and then limp over to the door in the south. He opened it and peeked into the long hallway that greeted him. From what he could see the only thing interesting down there was a strange glow of…was that blue? Dark colored eyes narrowed behind the glasses he wore. Hmm….looked blue, but he wouldn’t investigate that right now.  

Closing that door, he would head to the west door and open it and enter the next area he was in. As he looked around, the room appeared to be normal at a glance, but there was something about the area that kept him rooted to his spot as his eyes carefully scanned the place until finally he got a strong pull from somewhere near the back of the room. Curious, he would drift over at a casual pace and begin to explore the area his senses drew him to.

When Reaper opened the door to Block 8, he would feel an immense wave of heat as the door swung open. When he peeked his head in, he would see a large hole in the floor, exposing the magma's intense heat from below. Should he decide to investigate further, he would see a small rope-ladder hanging down from the floor, into the hole. Down there, Reaper would see a long set of wooden walk-ways hanging down from the castle's foundation. The chains looked sturdy enough, and the wood didn't look like it would break anytime soon. In fact, the walkway was very well maintained for what it was... Where did this lead?

Point of Interest:

He would explore the area until he discovered what looked like a hidden door on the floor. Curious, he would open it only to lean away from the hole as that ungodly heat from before came at him. Had he just opened the door to a drop into the inferno? Bracing himself against the heat, he would lean once more towards the hole taking note of the walkways below and the material they were made of. Considering they were well maintained and not burning in the heat, he assumed that the pathways below were enchanted or something. Too bad they weren’t enchanted to act like super AC. Guess that was too much to ask from a strange castle over a lava pit.

However this mattered not as he looked around the room he was in debating for a second about going back to that hall where he saw the blue light. Maybe he could go investigate that,,,but then again maybe that was simply a dead end not worth the trouble. Hmmm…He debated for a second longer before deciding that the blue light was not worth bothering with right now. He was more curious about these catwalks than a light that could do who-knew-what to him.

With his mind made up, Reaper would move around the hole so that he was in a good position and then letting himself drop, he would spread his wings out catching the hot air that allowed him to drift easily down to the ground. He would land on the wooden planks and not hesitate to move forward as quickly as possible. He didn’t run or use too much energy. He just did enough to get him to the next point in an efficient manner. When the young man finally did find another trap door, he had to fly upward and push against it to get open. Luckily said door was unlocked and light. Quickly getting into the next room he would close the door before sitting on top of the door panting lightly as sweat dripped off his face. Taking off his glasses, he would wipe his face on the back of the opposite arm that was reddish from heat. He’d take a moment to cool off. Why did the surrounding area have to be a lava pit again? Why not water or something logical like that?

Reaper shook his head before pushing himself to his feet and placing his glasses back upon his face. Ah well, the furnace was enough to push the mission he was on forward. The quicker he could finish the mission the quicker he could leave and have a well-deserved soak in the tub. His body would appreciate that after all this heat.

The heat had certainly made a number on him, but at least Reaper had made it much deeper into the castle. The area which he found himself in now seemed to be the very southernmost end of the castle. Several windows of stained glass decorated the walls on his right, each of them depicting a paticular tarot card. A tarot card he would most likely recognize by now. Strength. But their coloration was somewhat off... wasn't the Strength card usually blue? And instead of the graceful woman that was usually depicted, a knight stood above a dead lion, with it's sword struck in it's ribcage... What did all this mean? The connection to the Strength Arcana was so obvious that even you, a forgotten, could easily see that. But why? What could it possibly represent?


If Reaper would take a look out one of these windows, he didn't see the outside of the castle like one would expect. Instead, he saw what looked like a post-apocalyptic world. A world that had been torn asunder by this castle's creator. Did these windows... predict the future? Or did they just show the potential future that awaited the world if you didn't end the drought that was plaguing your home?

After moving forward, Reaper would pause for a moment to rest a second. The fatigue from the heat was still upon him, but the other reason he had paused was because the hall turned a bit further up. He wasn’t sure was ahead, so he was cautious as he listened to the mostly silent area. He didn’t hear anything threatening, but that did not necessarily mean he was alone.

Hmph. Time to move on anyway.

Reaper would shift slightly in his spot, preparing to go when he happened to glance to his right where rows of stained glass windows rested. Upon them was etched a knight that had slain a beast. His sword was still freshly planted in the thing. What a morbid piece of art work, but maybe the master of this place was a great hunter or something…but wait.

Reaper’s eyes narrowed as he turned to look at the picture more carefully. Outside of coloration and art work….this appeared to be the tarot card for strength. So was this suggesting he was in area full of strength based creatures? Or was that big guy in the picture the one Strength aided? Strange…and what was that?

Reaper’s eyes moved from the picture to a more clearer part of the window. He could see something beyond the window, but there was something about what he saw that made him draw nearer. On the other side of the window, the outside surroundings were not that of the pit or the hills he had come in with. No the landscape out there was…was….

Dark eyes would take in the ruined and smoldering landscape beyond the window’s glass. He’d take in the deep gashes left by fire and death. Take in the ruins and smoke. This world….this was what it would all look like if the drought continued wouldn’t it? He couldn’t allow that to occur and yet…Yet, if someone had that much power could he alone face the master of such destruction? Was he even qualified to do such a job?

Doubt. It filled him like a sickness and almost made the usually strong leader turn back; however, he held his ground as his eyes glanced back up at the picture of the knight. He didn’t understand what the picture meant in a literal sense, but somehow seeing that picture and being reminded of strength gave the orange head gent the power he needed to press on. Facing forward once more he would begin to walk again.
