**ALERT!** After a rather eventful evening at Maksim's Party, three teenagers seems to have gone missing. The doors of Vault Olympia have been breached due to a to this day unknown assailant, who sabotaged the doors locking systems, allowing demons to make entry. Thanks to the excellent defensive capabilities of the Vault's Security drones, the Attack was put to an end, and the invading monsters fled to the outside. Right now, the Doors of Vault Olympia are currently open, allowing any survivors of the fall to seek shelter within the Vault's safe halls. What Vault Security officials think of this development remains unclear as the Chief of Police and Security of Olympia refused to leave a comment. This is Rianara, of Olympia news, signing out.

The site is entering a new era as our team of mods works tirelessly on updating old and obsolete information threads and links. Over the Summer, we aim to make many changes to the forum, including writing a comprehensive beginners' guide to help new players accommodate to the combat and other rp systems in place here.

Morning Light [Mae] Empty
PostSubject: Morning Light [Mae]   Morning Light [Mae] EmptySat Apr 02, 2016 5:32 pm

Meh. The morning came way earlier than expected. It was likely just a personal perception, but it was still mildly annoying. Nights feel especially short when you don't want them to be, don't they? Yesterday has been rather busy and tiring after all. Not that he felt any less tired right now. Alas, he couldn't be lounging around forever, nor could he stay in San Malarus for too long. For several reasons, aside from the basic fact that he didn't even live here. The joys.

Regardless, he spent most of the early morning wandering the streets again, as he had been up before people's usual waking time, leaving him with little to really do for a while. Ironically enough, an unindentified amount of time later, he found himself passing by Mae's work place. At which point he would stop for a bit. This reminded him that he still needed to talk to her. Most likely before he went off somewhere else soon, as he wasn't sure when would he get around to coming back here again. On one side, he was tempted to just leave it be and let her think to herself for the time being. On the other, he felt like that wouldn't end very well in the long run. The dilemmas.

For the moment, he would simply stare at the building, thinking. Honestly, he didn't even know where would she be right now. It was only morning, but it wasn't like he knew for sure as to what she'd do during times like these. That, and his train of thought wasn't extra bright for the moment. It was still the beginning of the day for one. Two, he just wasn't feeling very energetic for the moment. He even looked a bit roughed up at a glance. No surprise after his yesterday scruffle with Oki, and the fact that he's spent the night outside.

''Hm....''

Mae looked out the window of the lobby... None of the children had woken up at this time... and her being the lone staff up at this hour, she took this time to reminisce over some things. Perhaps it was just her thinking back on brighter times to keep her spirit up, or something else. Regardless, even though she was staring out the window, she didn't pay any attention to who was passing by. Because honestly, with how times were around here, why would anyone pass by here in the first place? And at this time of day...? No... Of course, she could still be seen staring outside abscentmindedly, with her chin resting on the palm of her hand.

~Flashback Sequence~

"Mae? Are you there, darling?" The voice of Kinaku reached inside Mae's room, with the girl staring out the window. The view from her room was actually quite good, all things considered. One of the perks with living in Miyazaki, in a way. The now 13 year old Mae Iharu, still red-headed and had said hair tied up in a single ponytail, twitched as her step-mother's voice reached her ears, jerked out of her daydreaming. "Yes, Mom. What is it?" The girl stood up and opened the door to her room, looking down the staircase not too far away from where she stood. At the base, Kinaku looked up at Mae.

"Breakfast, dearie.." Kinaku said with a thin smile on her face, giving Mae a gesture towards the kitchen. The girl immediately walked down the stairs, humming happily on some tune. "Hehe, you're certainly very alert today." Kinaku said with a smile as her new child walked into the kitchen...

Her thoughts wandered on, still not really paying attention to what was going on outside, so long as no one knocked on the door, or worse, the window itself.

''...''

His luck really liked to mess with him, eh? It wasn't that he had not considered the option of her being here, but what were the chances, really? Not so long ago, she claimed she would go investigate Isla, so he wouldn't think she'd spend much time at work as is. Surely, she wasn't the only employee, and those that could do something were better off focusing on that instead of normal work. After all, she wouldn't do much to protect the kids in the long run by sitting with them.

All that aside, this didn't make his decisions any easier. He still didn't know how much he really wanted to talk to her now. It seemed like she wasn't paying much attention despite staring outside, so he could probably just walk away if he wanted to. On the other hand, that would solve nothing. The only real reason why he had stayed here instead of trying to go back home was the whole conflict with her, since he did not want to walk back and forth just for that, now that the only way around was on foot. Yet, he was far from eager for the discussion that was bound to happen. Ugh...

But he had to. Thus, he would walk over to the window she was starting out of, waving his hand in front of it to see if she was actually awake and not sleeping. She should notice him from this close, right? Regardless, a try is a try, and he would watch her with a somewhat tired expression as he waited for a reaction.

"M-Mae..." Tatsui started, staring down at his feet during lunch break, two weeks into Highschool... She barely knew the guy... and yet, he had walked up to her, while she was talking to Ayane. The two girls paused in their conversation as he approached them. "Yes... Tatsui-kun?" She started, turning to face him, with a curious look. "D-Do you wanna... go to the movies with me on saturday...?"

And that's where she was dragged out of her daydreaming of times long since gone as a hand waved by her eyes. She blinked, confused for a second. It didn't take her very long though to notice that Sharaku had been the one to yank her out of her own thoughts like this... And of course, it would be him. Who else would it be? Just her luck... Was there something he wanted? She gave him a gesture to wait outside the door, as she stood up, and headed towards the door, and opened it. "H-Hi..." She said shyly, moving out of the way so he could walk inside. "What brings you here...?" He looked a bit roughed up from what she could see... Had he been sleeping on the streets again...? Maybe? But even so, that didn't explain everything... like how he got that roughed up by just sleeping. He had gotten into some kind of trouble, hadn't he...? She lead him over to the couch in the lobby, next to the windows, where she had been sitting by herself before Sharaku had swung by... Oh, why did he have to be the one to show up... of all the people she knew... He obviously had a reason for coming here. She had a hunch of what that might be, but... ergh, she didn't want to think about it...

Well, at least he wasn't being shooed off for disturbing her. It appeared that she had really not been paying attention if she only noticed him after he did that, and was still confused for a moment. Although, he probably wouldn't have been mad had she sent him away. At least he'd have a solid reason for not doing this without having to feel bad about it since he tried, sort of.

''Hey...'', he'd greet her with a half-smile as he walked in, before thinking on the follow up question. ''I was just walking past and saw you here. Yesterday, you said you wanted to talk later, yes? I don't think I'm going to stay in San Malarus for much longer, so might as well. Otherwise, who knows when we'll meet next. The subway issue makes it less favorable to walk around all the time.'' There was no reason to try and come up with something else. That's how it was. If nothing else, she could at least be glad he did not choose to run off instead. In any case, he would move over to sit down, waiting for whatever she had to say.

Morning Light [Mae] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Morning Light [Mae]   Morning Light [Mae] EmptySun Apr 03, 2016 10:20 am

Oh, yeah... That. Mae sighed deeply. This was just as difficult to speak about as she had imagined it to be... Honestly, she had trouble formulating what she wanted to say to him. She knew just how badly this could, and probably would go... But she couldn't keep this bottled up inside her forever... She knew that he would eventually find out about what she felt still. And let's be real here. She preferred him to learn about this from Mae herself, rather than some other round-about way that... well... could make things even worse. And their relationship was strained enough as is. Of course, how this went all depended on how Sharaku reacted to what she had to say. She wasn't planning on ending the friendship they had... If someone would end it for good, it would be him.

"A-About last time..." She was about to say "You know... when I messed up", but she knew that wouldn't go well with him, even though that's what she felt. "That experience... and what happened... taught me something... You see..." She continued on, squirming a bit in place. Mae knew very well that what she was about to tell him wasn't very pleasant for him to hear... and she felt bad for having to tell him this... Not that she felt bad about the information itself, but rather, the awkward position Sharaku would be in afterwards... "There's... something you should know about me..." She paused briefly, gathering her resolve to push through with this... after all, she had brought this on herself, and by extension, him. She couldn't just brush this off as nothing.

"It's been gnawing at me ever since then... the rest of that day had been absolutely horrible for me..." She bit her own lip lightly before continuing on. "I'm not blaming you, or anything. The reason why I was so distant back when we met Hiro at first was because of something I had come to realise..." She couldn't even look him in the eyes when she continued on... She was so ashamed of this realization, and telling him about it. But deep down, Mae knew that she had to tell him. Keeping this from him would make her situation only worse...

"After what happened back then... R-Regardless of how hard I try to ignore it... They're still there... my feelings for you... *Sniffle* T-They just won't go a-a-away... It hurts... It hurts so much. Because what happened then... made me realise..."

She paused for a moment, still avoiding sharaku's gaze for a while, shivering in her seat... "T-That no matter w-what I do..." Just this once, she finally looked into his eyes, with tears already streaming steadily down her cheeks, soaking her hands and lap slowly.

"...You... You'll never love me back!"

Morning Light [Mae] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Morning Light [Mae]   Morning Light [Mae] EmptySun Apr 03, 2016 12:12 pm

And so it begins....

Morning Light [Mae] VSzbtXR

For the entirety of her speech, he would remain quiet, simply listening. It would seem he was almost surprisingly calm about it all, compared to her having a slight outburst right now. Had they approached this talk yesterday, right away after that meet, it would likely have been much different. He was capable of being rather volatile when in a severely negative mood, and that's something no one would really enjoy seeing. Plus, he probably wouldn't have reacted all that well if she had dropped this on him out of nowhere. You have no idea just how much difference one day can make. And it hasn't even been a full day yet. To say the truth, he kind of even expected something like this, as much as he disapproved of it for a few reasons. He never liked the combination of being insecure and hasty on top of that in people, and it would hardly change.

Being sad when someone doesn't like you enough, he could swallow. Breaking down about it frequently is a tougher cookie, but depending on how it went, he could still handle. The true issue here was the cause. He was not quite understanding what was she so heartbroken about. They were hardly a couple at all. They did not even go through a decent amount of dates and whatnot, but she already claims to love him. He was rather skeptical about the real depth of her feelings. Obsession so quick isn't real love. That's either a strong crush or just being infatuated too much. You can't genuinely love someone so fast. You can like them a lot, but that is not love just yet. They had been casual friends before, but you don't get to know a friend as well as you do someone you date seriously. But they never really did. And he was honestly a bit tired of people confessing love so early on. Shun did it as well, and look where it went. Acting like you're oh so in love as fast as that...just feels like you're downgrading the real meaning behind love. You don't need to hang yourself onto someone ASAP, like you can't wait a bit to make sure what your feelings are all about. You only make yourself appear desperate, not wanting to get kicked away. Not to mention, you're putting unecessary pressure on the other person to figure out their own feelings right away, because you're just too hasty to keep your crushing in for a moment longer. And then you wonder why does it all start cracking apart soon in some way or form. Even if that person may have normally come to like you with time, they are likely to back away due to the sudden jump.

Enough pondering, however. Taking a deep breath, he would move to stand up, standing right in front of her. ''No, I do not. I can't deny that. However....'', he would trail off slightly, before giving a sigh. How to put this. He did not want to upset her further, but he did not aim to coddle her either, and tell her what she was doing was okay and that it would work out next time. Because if her strategy was to hold onto a person like they're a lifeline and talk about love as carelessly as that, then she'd have a tough time finding a partner. Likely, she'd just end with someone who gets as clingy as her, which would not be very healthy. He'd give her a sad smile. ''....I don't want to sound like a jerk...but, even if I did like you, your approach would most likely just make me want to decline....'', he'd reach out a hand, putting it on her shoulder.

''I know you're nice and all, but I think you're a bit too hasty for comfort. What is love to you? We hardly dated much, or did any couple activities together. Hell, we haven't even seen each other for two years, and back then you only clung to me because Charles left you. Can you truly and honestly say it's love? Real love isn't clinging onto a person and despairing or having emotional breakdowns immediately when they don't meet you halfway. That seems more like a heavy crush or infatuation to me.'', he would shake his head sadly. ''What did you ever expect? To confess love to me like it's nothing so soon after we met again, and get the same in return? That strikes me as shallow. I can admit to liking a person a lot fairly fast, but love and such powerful feelings are meant to be a serious commitment that comes with time. Not something you blurt out as a way to connect to a person further. You don't go from point A to point C without acknowledging the point B.'' That's just bound to create trouble sooner or later. He would give her a firm look.

''I hate to say this, but I take love seriously. And I can't get behind the idea of rushing it and making hasty assumptions about every little quirk and action, unless both parties are mature and really feel secure that it's right to take it a little faster. It's very easy to interpret your feelings the wrong way if you don't take the time to think on them, and just chase to the end line instead.''

PostSubject: Re: Morning Light [Mae]   Morning Light [Mae] EmptySun Apr 03, 2016 5:03 pm

"H-Heh... At least you're... honest about it..." Mae said shakily, with a weak attempt of a smile... which looked more like a cringe than anything else really. "Yeah... I was a bit too quick... with everything..." But what was done, was done. No reason to keep blaming herself for that. It wouldn't get her anywhere, and she knew that. "I'm sorry for putting you through all this... I really am. I know it's not something for me to apologize for... but it's put a lot of strain on you... I was selfish, looking for someone, or something that I could cling to... Perhaps un-justifiably so... You were so understanding and helpful to me... With you, I felt comfortable with sharing almost anything." She wiped some of her tears with her sleeve.

And then he asked a question which was quite monumental, in a way... Perhaps this needed to happen for her to truly understand what it was... To her anyway.

"What is love... to me...?" She looked at him thoughtfully... She took a couple of seconds, thinking about what the word really meant to her... but no dice. She shook her head. "I... Don't know..." Her gaze fell down on her lap again, ashamed over this... Walking into something like what she had without realising what love truly was to her was a foolish mistake indeed. But it was one that was necessary for her to realise what the whole love thing truly was to her... Perhaps she just really saw Sharaku as an incredibly close friend...? Almost bordering on a more... brotherly thing... But perhaps that was pushing it a bit. "That was... foolish of me, yes... That much I can admit... In Hindsight, I could've done things better... but... I think it's better for the both of us this way." She would then listen closely to what Sharaku was saying... It stung a bit, but it was okay. She had made some big mistakes, and it was only fair for her to swallow this without complaining. That was the adult thing to do, no?

As the two fell silent, footsteps could be heard, trying to sneak down the staircase. Mae instinctively turned around to look up at the snooping person up there. It was Kayle. "Up so soon, Kayle? It's very unlike you to be up this early. Is there something wrong...?" Mae asked the little 7 year old with a concerned look. "I... heard yelling..." Oops... Mae had accidentally woken up the young girl... Hopefully she was an isolated case. And from the looks of it, she was indeed the only one to have been disturbed by Mae's thoughtless outburst of emotions. "I'm fine..." The blonde girl replied, before sneaking down the staircase, and sitting down next to Mae, the latter wrapping her left arm around the young girl. Kayle would then give Sharaku an angry glare. "Have you been mean to her?" Her eyes wouldn't waver, and her voice was firm. She was a brave girl, not being intimidated by Sharaku's looks. "No... Kayle... It's not his fault." Mae said calmly. She was a nice girl... just a little bit on the rough side at times.

Heh. He could hardly lie at this point without making it all even worse. Nor was it very like him to be a liar. While he was capable of pulling people by the nose, he wasn't keen on that as long as it wasn't completely necessary. At best, he told half-truths, when the other side didn't seem to need to know something in detail. At her words, he would actually smile lightly. Compared to yesterday, he appeared to be in a noticeably more positive mood, despite the hint of tiredness and all mixed in. ''It's...quite alright. As a matter of fact, you helped me realize something, so maybe I should even thank you. Can't say I like having a lot of drama dumped onto me, but it made me spend a lot of the night thinking. I think I know what is going on now for the most part. I don't really blame you for this. I just want you to figure out what went wrong so that it doesn't happen again. I'm sure we can both agree that no one likes it when this happens.'' He was no expert in the relationships department at base, but the experiences served him well enough when it came to figuring it out. He would surely have handled this much differently in the past after all.

He would listen to her answer, which was basically no answer at all, before giving a low whistle. He'd move his hand under her chin in an attempt to make her look up at him instead of staring down at her lap. ''Maybe that's it. You know, you need to feel confident about yourself and your own choices if you want people to want you. Whether consciously or not, one can usually notice someone's insecurity, which isn't particularly an attractive trait. Learn how to be sure about yourself, and perhaps you'll have an easier time with it all.'' He'd leave it at that, though, letting her try and figure out what all he was trying to imply with his words. She'd have to understand herself anyway.

Past that, he wouldn't get much to say, as they were soon interrupted. He'd take a step back from Mae as he turned his gaze towards the new noise. Ah. For a moment, he had almost forgotten where exactly he was. This probably wasn't the best place for having such a discussion. Young children could easily take the display wrongly...and his guess wasn't even too far from that, as he found out a moment later. Heh. He could take that. He wasn't very keen on whiny or bratty kids that threw tantrums, but an upfront behavior was certainly entertaining. He wasn't even mad that the girl thought he was not being nice. He would move over a bit, crouching down so he could be on a better level with the young one. ''Not quite. Everyone needs to let go once in a while. I'm sure you needn't worry about her.'', he would say, smirking lightly. ''You're bold though. I like that. I bet Mae here doesn't need to be scared of really mean people when she has a warrior like you to protect her, am I right?'' Oddly enough, he was being somewhat silly right now, which could strike one as unusual. But he was capable of being a clown at times, even if it wasn't his prefered strategy.

"Thank me...?" She certainly didn't feel like she deserved that at the moment. She was just unable to see how she had helped him understand anything at all. And here he was, still looking out for her, even after everything that had happened... "Mhm... I've learned a lot from this..." Indeed, and it was with this knowledge that she would keep on living her life with... She stared out the window again, absentmindedly. "We've been through a lot of things together, haven't we...?" Looking back on things now, it sure had been a long and very bumpy ride, and here they were... and despite how bumpy the ride had been up to this point, she felt like it was worth it... In the end, she had gotten herself a true friend. And she would let it stay that way this time around...

"I can only hope it gets better... This experience certainly wasn't a confidence booster, I can tell you that much." Mae replied with a light smile... genuine, indeed.

"It's going to take time, Mae... So, just be patient, okay?"

Her companion spoke softly, as if to reinforce her conviction, and Sharaku's words. // Yeah. And this is something I have to work with on my own... // She replied to her persona.

Kayle's expression softened a bit at the words of Mae and Sharaku. "I... See..." Kayle replied thoughtfully, trying to process the information she was given. When Sharaku got within arms reach of the girl, she'd playfully pinch his nose, with a mischevious, yet proud grin on her face. "Of course! I'll always be there for her!" She proceeded to embrace Mae tightly, as if to shield her from Sharaku. "Hehe. I think she likes you, Sharaku." The caretaker said with a light chuckle. "A-Am Not! Hmph!" Kayle pouted, crossing her arms in a rather displeased manner... but it was easy to see that Mae had hit the nail on the head. His way of talking to Kayle might've gotten her to like him a bit more... Just a little bit, even though she tried her best to deny it. "Just give her some time... she'll grow to like you, I'm sure." The little girl in Mae's arms only replied with a muffled "As if...".

''Yes. I think now I know why I keep getting involved in relationships that can't really work. Woe is me.'', he would chuckle faintly. ''Regardless, I felt like you could use the thanks. It's pointless to always circle around apologies and blames.'' It only made the situation worse, and he'd rather not kill his decently good mood that quickly. That, and he wanted to try testing something, and this may be a good start. He would smile thinly. ''If by a lot of things you mean excessive drama, then sure. How much outside of that have we really done anyway?'' The things before that meeting at the club long ago, perhaps. But there hadn't been much of it. They had never hung out a lot. Mae had spent more time with her other friends and comrades, while he had been busy with his old team and everything that happened around that. He's never been very likely to reach out to people himself.

''Perhaps take it as a lesson learned, then. More knowledge means you can be more confident in what you know, no? It comes down to what perspective you look at a matter from. Tell yourself something's a downer, and you'll feel like it was.'' Wasn't that true. Many times, you were the one dragging yourself down by not noticing the positive side of things, in favor of telling yourself you did something stupid. Which never makes things better.

''???''

He would actually almost jump back on instinct, not having expected that kind of reaction. Which was not the best idea when crouching down like that, thus he would end up toppling over onto his back, staring at the ceiling for a moment with one hand over his face. He'd snap back into reality soon after though, giving a faint snort. ''Looks like I lose.'' Oops. Anyhow, he would prop himself up on his elbows to look at the two. ''I think I can settle with at least not being hated. I do appreciate the attention though.'' For now, he seemed amused enough.

Morning Light [Mae] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Morning Light [Mae]   Morning Light [Mae] EmptyMon Apr 04, 2016 8:20 pm

"Heh, well, you're not alone on that front... ehehe..." Mae replied with a wry smile. Not a single one of her relationships had lasted very long, which was a shame... but at the same time, she had learned a couple of things because of them, so it wasn't all that bad, to be honest. It hurt sure, but the pain, like everything else, was something that time would eventually cure on it's own.

"He has a point, you know."

Qilin, someone who never spoke up much as of late suddenly decieded to let her voice be heard. This caused Mae to almost jump in her seat. "Y-Yeah! You have a point." Mae said somewhat hastily, trying to brush off the fact that Qilin had almost given her a heart attack just then. "Mhm... It's more than what I would've liked, but eh. What's done's done. We can't do anything to change the past... as much as I would want to... but even if I was given a choice, I wouldn't change anything." She was eventually going to be content with how things were, and really, this "romantic relationship" they had caused more bad than good, in the end. Except the plush. She loved that thing.

Mae listened to what Sharaku said, nodding in agreement every now and again. "I hope it sticks this time around. I don't wanna get into that situation with anyone again..." Just being friends with him was fine in her book. She'd need to cast the feelings aside, bury them somewhere, and reserve them for someone she knew that she wanted. Someone that was more... her, if that made any sense.

Kayle giggled gleefully at Sharaku, while Mae looked at him with a little bit of concern. "You okay there?" Once she got the okay, she'd giggle along with Kayle. "Yay! I won! Take that, Mister." Kayle replied with a smug grin. "You're alright." The blonde girl would slide off of Mae's lap, and crouch down next to Sharaku, holding out a small, slightly tanned hand. "The Name's Kayle Graves. Nice to meet you mister...?"

Hmm, no, he wasn't. And yet, he'd say he was arguably worse at it than her, due to certain factors. ''At least you don't...'', he'd trail off before shaking his head slightly. Whatever he was saying, he didn't seem to be all that eager to finish. To say the truth, neither of them were handling these matters in the best way they could, the fact that she was more sociable and open helped her for the most part, while he tended to fail even when trying as he was no good at interpersonal relations of most kinds. And the problem was pretty much himself, not anyone else. Which made it that much harder to deal with without digging himself in even further, and turning it all worse than it already is. Positive mood or not, he still didn't seem to be all that happy.

He'd give her a slight look at the oddly jumpy response. ''I wish it was as easy as that, though.'' It was nice, but it didn't really solve anything. For him, at least. He wasn't completely sure about her. ''Changing the past would be great, wouldn't it? It's hard to think about that though, when it's a struggle to even change the present. '' Even then, it wasn't viable to do that. Past was the past, and it would always remain so. Trying to change it would just be a danger to everyone. A small change could affect a lot around you, so it's a foolish thing to try, even if it was somehow possible.

....well. ''I guess....'' It wasn't necessarily only about that. ''I shouldn't be talking like that anyway. It's partially my own fault that this happened the way it had. I'm sorry for that.'' She would have had it easier with someone else, that was for sure. Someone with her kind of personality would have trouble dealing with the likes of him, that much he could tell. At the very least, for as long as nothing major changed. Whether it ever would, he wouldn't be able to tell just yet.

Mmm, he was fine. It's not like something as minor as this would have really hurt him. He's fought real battles before, so why would he not be okay after something so simple? ''No, I'm obviously dead.'', he'd state in a deadpan tone. Of course, he was just joking. Did he even look like he wasn't fine enough? ''Mmf...'', he would just make a defeated sound. He couldn't fight with a kid, even if he may have with someone else. He would smile thinly, looking at the girl who was now beside him. ''Sharaku Rikei. The pleasure is mine...'', he would shift in his spot a bit to balance on one arm. If she wanted to, he'd give her his hand, alas it could be pretty awkward with his claws and whatnot. You never know how people react to that, much less kids.

She raised an eyebrow at him, crossing her arms. "...At least I'm not what?" Sharaku brought this on himself, to be frank. Trailing off like that usually meant something bad. That, and he had made her curious. You reap what you sow.

"Don't we all?" Mae replied with a chuckle. "But if it was that easy, it kinda defeats the purpose of it, no?" It did, in a way. If it was easy, then you probably wouldn't learn as much from the experience if it was just easy to solve. You wouldn't make much effort to avoid bad situations if they were easy to solve. "It sure would be nice. But yeah, it's dangerous. One small change in the past could have dramatic consequences in the future..." Wasn't that concept known as the butterfly effect? Where one small change causes a chain reaction which drastically changes the present, and future, for the better or worse.

"Oh, come on. Let's not start the "Who's fault is it?"-argument here." She'd reply with a thin smile. "There's no need to apologize..." Her smile grew wider with each passing sentence. "We just happened to not be suited for one another like that. It's hardly anyone's fault. Just a stroke of bad luck." On her part anyway. She wasn't trying to make him feel better or anything. She was just being honest.

"Hehe, good to see." Mae replied with a giggle, looking at the fallen over Sharaku with a joyous smile. "Likewise!" Kayle said with a nod, as she reached out to shake his hand. It didn't take long before she noticed how... strange it looked. She'd stare at it for a moment with both curiousity and some hesitation, before she finally grabbed hold of what little she could with her small hand, shaking his.

Oh right. That's what. He ought to note it's better to not say something than start it and leave it unfinished. Such only nets you an interrogation unless the other person doesn't give a damn at all. ''What I mean is that you're still better off than me in the end. You're a much better social butterfly than me. The only reason I ever got involved in anything is because others came after me. I don't do small talk much, and I've certainly never tried to chase down a date myself.'' Ironically enough, he was capable of being charming if he really put himself to it. Except that he didn't. He should probably work on being more assertive in regards to that, but it wasn't as easy as it sounded.

''Who knows. But considering how most things are fairly hard, it wouldn't kill for at least one to be easy.'', he'd shrug slightly. Defeat the purpose, maybe, but he wouldn't be mad if something wasn't complex for once. What wasn't hard nowadays? People somehow made everything complicated over time. ''Let's hope someone doesn't invent time travel. That could be rather disastrous in reality.'' The risk of messing a lot up was a bit too high for comfort, but there surely were people who would not take it seriously enough.

He'd sigh. Well, he definitely wasn't smiling about this. ''Hardly an argument. I'm just stating what is.'' Then again, she didn't come face to face with that much, if ever...''Actually, I think you were quite lucky when it comes to me. Or perhaps you just never realized. It does sort of matter. I don't exactly make a very good partner...'' Whatever it is he was musing about, it would seem he did not agree with the luck theory all that much.

That so? ''Perhaps I should fake my death more often.'' Dark humor go? As a matter of fact, he actually found the idea entertaining, as unusual as it was. He'd nod slightly, accepting the sort of handshake. Size differences can make it a little awkward. Anyway...''Well then... what now...? I'm guessing everyone else is still sleeping.'' Honestly, he wasn't even sure what time it was right now.
