Retuo would eye his companion with a slightly pinched expression. "You don't have to." Not to say that the appreciation was entirely lost on him, but considering the fact that they were both this way was part of the reason why he didn't want to go in depth with the topic, he didn't feel like it was the most appropriate connection to make. His stance on the matter tended to differ from most of the people who have gone through such experiments, and he frankly didn't find much comfort in meeting with others of his 'kind' most of the time. Cherry was a pretty good example, for he was quite certain that even if she were aware that she had a demon stuck to her, she'd still hate it to at least some extent.

"Demeter..." He'd sigh. "I think? I do recall hearing the name. As far as I'm aware though, aren't he and his lackeys the only ones conducting these experiments anyway? I don't believe the other demon leaders care to trifle with humans to that extent." Especially since it involved doing it to their fellow demons as well, which meant it took a certain kind of attitude to think that a good thing to do. "I can't say I know what they're trying to accomplish though. I wouldn't consider bonding humans to demons to be a safe way to gain power, seeing as it does not guarantee them any control over the result even if it turns out to be successful." What was the purpose? Yes, it could clearly produce quite the power in the end, but unless the human was for some reason willing to serve or kept on a tight leash all the time...was it worth it? Perhaps in a scenario where the demon took control instead, but most of the demons probably weren't happy about being used like that either. It seemed more trouble than worth, which brought up a question if nothing else.

“I don’t hafta appreciate nothin’. Still don’t mean I won’t.” A more than enthused face of Jackdaw’s met Retuo’s scrunched up facade. Apparently the subject was touchy. Perhaps they subjected Retuo to torments he didn’t want to mention; if it weren’t for the gaping holes in Jack’s memories he more than likely wouldn’t want to discuss the topic in depth either.

“Some’a the demons keep humans as slaves, so I wouldn’t put it past ‘em doin’ the same kinda experiments Demeter’s been doin’. Narrowin’ it down to only him conductin’ experiments don’t make much sense either.” Jack paused to take a drag of his cigarette for a further reply.

“Everythin’s gotta use, like I said earlier. Sure, me and you might not be the most sterlin’ examples of this, but I figure Demeter and some other fuckers got plenty’a workin’ experiments wililin’ to do whatever they asked.” With that said Jack exhaled a heavy sigh and cloud of smoke, leading to a stern look towards Retuo.

“Hell, I figure it’s only a matter’a time before some’a ‘em come after you and me.”
