A small thank you! [Eli x Waddle-Dee, Matty]

Eli excitedly awaited for the people to come hurling towards him, having accepted his invitation. He was expecting the new guys, like Alex and the others, and he was quite excited to be able to thank them again for their help. Honestly, he wouldn't even be alive today without them!

Imagine his surprise when, instead of the people he actually wanted to come, he was met with the Waddle-Dees and Matty, of all people. "O-oh, have you guys seen my invitation too?" He asked in a confused tone. He was trying to hide his disappointment, but his smile was already slinking off of his face. "W-what do you guys even eat?"

The Waddle-dee's where all over the place as usual, several were rushing in and out of the cafeteria taking food to people or returning dirty dishes and utensils from the quarters that had finished their meals, and some where there to eat for themselves taking some food and wandering off to a table to eat.

Some Waddle-dee's however were there due to a request they had seen in the bar and as they walked over to Eli and he responded to seeing them, one of the Waddle-dee's started to write on a notepad while the others took seats at the table and one of the slightly smaller Waddle-dee's hopped up on the table and gave Eli a hug.

Mean while the writing Waddle-dee turning the note pad around so Eli could read it "Hello, and we wanted to say thank you for saving the ship, if it wasn't for you we all couldn't have gotten out of that situation to begin with, so we thought we would buy you lunch, and we are glad to see you are okay and not injured, as for what we eat, we like food" the note was simple and to the point and the little Waddle-dee hugging Eli had a happy look on it's face before the one with the notepad wrote a little addendum to the bottm "may we hug you?"

At the same time another Waddle-dee waved to Matty and gave a little salute.

Eli was taken aback when a Waddle-Dee jumped on the table to give him a hug. Meanwhile, he was utterly terrified at the sight of Matty slinking over and above the swarm of Waddle-Dees like some sort of deformed, golden-legged spider. He gulped down. "I don't feel so good..."

As he looked down at the note the Dees have written, he initially frowned, but settled for an exasperated sigh instead. "Y-you wanna buy me food? The whole point was for me to buy the food today, though. Matty, you're fine with me paying for the food, right?" He asked, only to visibly regret looking in Matty's direction as the golden chair came into view. "Riiiiiiiiiiiiight, I'll get you the spaghetti and I'll get the Waddle-Dees...........................................................................Well I'll get them something." He said, standing up from the table and moving over towards the tray pads. A blonde haired girl was managing the food. She was the same girl who was selling excess supplies at the cargo area. For Eli, it was a bit tougher to walk around the swarm of Waddle-Dees on the floor. After all, he had neither Matty's arms not that good of a sense of balance either. He waddled like some sort of constipated bird around the Waddle-Dees, careful not to step on any because that would definitely cause him to drop face-first on the floor as well. How he was going to carry the food back to the table was a question for the ages. A question that he himself faced the moment he was done picking out the food on the trays. "Oh boy..." He gazed defeated towards Matty and the Dees at the table.

"G-guys, help." He tried calling, but his voice came out very quietly. He also couldn't wave because he was somehow trying to balance three trays with his chubby arms.

The Waddle-dee's on hearing what Eli had to say all nodded then, if he wanted to get the food then they wouldn't argue, and as Eli moved through the cafeteria he was kind enough to avoid stepping on any of the multitude of Waddle-dee's wandering around the place doing their work or simply having a meal, though when he asked for help on the way back, the Waddle-dee's quickly hopped into action.

Well...sorta, the other Waddle-dee's in the area started to make a path for Eli as the group of Waddle-dee's dining with him all walked over to help him carry the food, after all he was carrying a lot due to the amount of Waddle-dee's that had come in response to his request, all of them trying to keep the way clear for the larger man, though a few Waddle-dee's were still crossing the path it wasn't as bad as before though the one Waddle-dee with the notepad did hold it up for Eli to read "if you want to buy our food we do not mind, thank you".

All the color drained from Eli's face as Matty extended her arms to help him, causing her to slink down beneath the table. He hesitated to give her the trays. Meanwhile, the Dees also gathered around him to help him out, pushing some note towards him again that his eyes only really glanced over. Something about thanking him. Sure, whatever, he was more focused on Matty at the moment. "R-right, thanks, Matty." He forced a smile, still pale, handing the trays over to Matty's three extended arms. He then started carefully maneuvering around the Waddle-Dees that were forming a path for him. "Thanks, guys." He told them.

Sitting down at the table, it'd be revealed that Eli got himself and the Dees some meatloaf, while Matty, of course, got her spaghetti. "I hope this is fine." He took off his hat as he addressed the Dees before turning towards Matty. "I've never really seen you eat." He commented. "Why do you even need to eat?"

The Waddle-dee's in the Cafetera returned to their rushing around, and of course they were silent and efficient the whole time, none of them tripping or running into one another as they all did their separate tasks that they where doing before, though the ones that were there to simply eat were walking around rather then rushing.

The Waddle-dee's that had come to Eli's request where now all seated around the table, filling it up with Eli, Matty and now all the Waddle-dee's who each had their own plate of meatloaf and utensils, and all where ready to dig in, passing salt and pepper and the like around to each other and to Matty and Eli as well as napkins.

Getting ready to eat one of the Waddle-dee's looked up at Eli as he asked his questions and then it took out it's notepad once more and started to write, meanwhile one of the Waddle-dee's near Matty was passing her the napkins and took a second to look at her Spaghetti then at it's meatloaf then at her spaghetti once more before nodding and seemingly deciding it was happy with the meatloaf but seemed to make note of something for later.

By this point the other Waddle-dee was done writing and it turned the notepad around for Eli to read "All living things need sustenance, as for eating we eat like everyone else does" as it held the notepad up with one hand all the waddle-dee's were now eating, the one holding the pad had a forkful of meatloaf and it just...absorbed into it's face where a mouth normally would be and the little Waddle-dee was rather obviously chewing quite happy with the food.

"T-thanks." Eli stuttered as he allowed Matty to take the trays off his hands. He seemed extremely squirmy when Matty's arms neared him and he had to turn slightly away while handing her the trays. He turned to read the Dees' message. He was about to smile and address them in a normal fashion when they started absorbing the meatloaf through the skin on their faces and all color drained from his face again. "O-k. Wait how much food do you guys consume then?? There's a whole bunch of you everywhere! How do we still have food on this ship??" He said in surprise, turning to face Matty but immediately regretting it as he saw her eating with her chair-hand-fork.

"Alright, but what sort of mechanism is there that converts the food you eat into energy?" He placed a hand over his mouth, part because he was in thought and part because he wasn't feeling all that hungry anymore. Especially when she began speaking about the Dees as meatballs. "D-did you really have to say that? Gosh I can't unsee it now."

Hearing the question about the amount of food they needed and the Little Waddle-dee turned the pad around again and started to write as Eli started to comment on what Matty had said, the Waddle-dee's apparently paying the comment no mind, not scared or seemingly offended by the remark that Matty had made, as they continued to happily eat.

Though they would notice that there was more colors then tan and reds, the colors of the Waddle-dee's could vary greatly, as well as size and light differences in looks, though it was unlikely that the two had seen any of the more specialized Waddle-dee's though as they were talking and making comments a Mega Waddle-dee, a Waddle-dee three times the size of a normal Waddle-dee entered the cafeteria with a swarm of normal sized Waddle-dee's running around it, not even bumping into each other, the Larger one seemingly knowing where each Waddle-dee around it was as it made it's way to the lunch line.

The Waddle-dee writing the note for Eli finally finished, having taken a bit longer then usual as it was also eating while writing, but turned the notepad around for him to read "Waddle-dee's are very efficient food wise, we could get by with just eating fast renewable things like Lemon grass, this Meatloaf you got us would last a little over a month" It gestured to the small piece of meatloaf in front of it on the plate, if it ate it all it would in fact take it a little over a month to finish digesting it, granted....that wouldn't stop it from eating again if offered food, it just meant it would have more fuel stored up for a longer period of time.

Eli looked at the Waddle-Dees' note and then at the Mega-Dee. Pointing behind himself at the giant Dee, he inquiried; "Even the big one?"

He focused on Matty's explanation. "Oh, I see, so you have a converter of sorts. Guess that really is similar to how we humans do it." He narrowed his eyes upon seeing the small golden him, as round as could be. He stared at the miniature, trying to ignore the fact this was, what, her fourth or fifth appendage at this moment? "I'm not that round." He commented disgruntedly, but it was Matty's question that broke his focus and caused him to flinch back in his seat. As Matty's tentacle slithered away, Eli gulped down, staring down at his food. It felt almost scary to look at food now. Flashes of the Waddle-Dees sucking the food through their skin and images of Matty's infinite, cosmic horror tendrils made it almost unthinkable for his body and mind to succumb to their earthly urges. He observed the meatloaf with appalment in his eyes, picking up the fork and knife to slice a piece of it. "O-of course I'm gonna eat, haha." He said as he remained frozen in this cutting pose. "Right about now... now... now..."

Looking over to the Mega Waddle-dee then back to Eli the Waddle-dee Finished it's meatloaf as it wrote it's next reply, a smile on it's face as the meatloaf was good and it was quite happy that Eli was being so kind, though Eli probably didn't realize what giving food to a group of Waddle-dee's meant, but more then likely after this he would find out, not that any of the Waddle-dee's even considered telling him, to them it was normal to simply do what they were gonna do once the meal was over.

As the one Waddle-dee continued to write on the note and wait it's turn to show it to Eli as he seemed to be talking with Matty at the moment, a few of the other Waddle-dee's at the table noticed the little waddle-dee's that Matty had made. Seeing the little ones Matty made waving the other Waddle-dee's that noticed smiled and waved back, slowly joined by more of the waddle-dee's doing the same and smiling at the little versions of themselves.

One even scooted a bit closer to get a closer look at them and very gently patted one on the head smiling quite happily at seeing the little versions of them, and sliding forward it's plate so they could join them in eating.

Seeing that Eli was done talking with Matty the one Waddle-dee that was writing noticed he wasn't eating yet ether and so added a bit to his writing before it turned the note pad around "Yes the Large one is actually more efficient then us since it doesn't need as much energy to get around cause it can take larger steps and can easily reach things we can't....Also the meatloaf is delicious you should give it a taste, it's really good" It smiled happily as it held up the note being as friendly as any Waddle-dee would be.
