The Seething Chaos [Mass Child Awakening]

Cain was a bit surprised at himself. He knew that battle got the endorphins flowing, the heart racing, all that jazz. But he was surprised just how...well exciting he found this. After all he was in a life or death struggle. He could lose his life, end up torn apart by monsters from who knows where, not to mention he'd gotten electrocuted and almost skewered by shards of ice. He wasn't sure he should be having as much fun as he was.
"I told you, Oh Son of Man. To lose yourself in chaos is the greatest joy you can find! How can you claim to truly be alive until you've killed? How can you create until you've destroyed? How can make a cake till you fill a man's mouth with flour, shove eggs up his nose and burn him alive!?" Cain tried his best to ignore the annoying voice that pestered him and focused on the fight. The other seemed to have finished off their monster, and he was eager to do the same.

"Alright, if they could call for weapons, so can I. It's all just in the flick of the wrist." Cain said to himself. As if in response to his mutterings two blades appeared, one for each hand. They felt nice, natural, as if they'd been crafted for his hands. He' have liked to take a moment to examine them, but there were obviously more important things to do. He swung the blades through the air appreciatively before slashing the two blades at the downed shadow before him.
"Thanks you two, I was just dying to try these out!" He said cutting the downed monster with an oddly congenial smile on his face. Maybe it would be best to call for back-up in a time like this, but some small part of himself wanted this kill all to himself. To slash these things into tiny pieces single-handedly and savor every second. Perhaps that was just a bit... off but these were monsters. Besides it was probably just the adrenalin talking, right?

“Well it can always be a fun bedtime story,” she retorted back with an obvious joke smile. The party idea only made her even happier. “Excellent! I call dibs on playing the music!” she dibbed. She was so not letting anyone else do so. Worse case-scenario, she always had a slow song she could try out to threaten them if Gabby let her do what she wanted to do at said party. She probably should not be grinning this way, but the Minotaur had finally been brought low by the combined efforts of her, Gabby, Kogami, and Vera. Lorielle would look over to Kogami, after he made his compliments, and breathing a bit heavily from her battle. “Clearly. I have many a question to ask you once this is all over. Actually, on the matter of it wh-“ was all she got before hearing another voice and turning to see Sagami receive his own Persona. It was a female bird-like creature, the only way she could possibly describe it. She would give him a grin and show him a thumbs up. He did not seem to notice as he immediately turned away and directed at the group of Shadows that Cain was still fighting.

‘Dammit…’ she thought. It had slipped her mind. Cain was still in too much trouble, and Lorielle would not relax until he was safe as well. She would turn to Vera who was now looking away from the team. She clearly did not seem to have any intention to help, and to be honest, that would not be entirely unexpected. Both Vera and Cain seemed to be like if you tried pushing together two north-poled magnets. They would just push one another away, and very awkwardly at that. She would take one look at Sagami, now suggesting to continue the fight without him. “Are you not going to fight?” she asked. As much as she did not mind the help, she had no right to tell them to help, she could only ask. For that reason, she had turned to the three, even Vera. “I am going to help Cain. If you guys are up to it, please join me,” she said, giving Kogami a neutral face, which giving him a face of disdain or annoyance being the norm, this might be a bit shocking to do. She would not give Gabby a pleading face, as she would adore her help, however, she also needed to stay out of danger. Then again, Gabby seemed to not mind, and told her as such before, so she might not have to worry. Should Vera turn to either address or see who made the comment, Lorielle would give a face of understanding. If Vera got the message, Lorielle would understand if she did not help, but she would only try to communicate that to her through her face. After a brief pause, she would run from the three, past Sagami, and headlong to the Shadows who were now down on the ground.

“I got ya,” she would say with a slightly lowered voice. Cain was doing just fine on his own, so patronizing him and shouting to aid him seemed like the perfect way to annoy him. If he heard, then whatever. He certainly was capable. Her golden eyes remained as she felt a sudden burst of absolute darkness within her. Clutching her head a bit, she would hold her ground, Yhoundeh behind her holding her arms half a foot from each other in front of her. The darkness would only make her feel even more wild with power; however she kept her cool, and soon let go of her head, as a purple circle appeared from thin-air with glyphs around it, in front of her. From the middle of it, black and purple tendrils would shoot out and grab for as many Shadows as it could, and pull it into the middle of the circle. Should it capture anything, they would be pulled into the middle, and the glyphs would glow bright purple, the rest of the circle growing black before the tendrils would cover the captured Shadows and banish them to the abyss. For Lorielle, who was always on the more honorable, perhaps even innocent side, the idea of using powers that resembled absolute darkness seemed off, and yet, she was very willing to accept that power, understanding it so long as it could be controlled.

Gabby would nod at Lori, “Sure. You can play whatever you want, as long as it’s good.” She laughed at this. Then she looked at the purple haired girl, who had turned away. She was wise enough to understand the meaning of her body language, or, she thought she did. The silence wasn’t helping either, “Vera, do you plan to come or will I only see you in class after this?” She sighed, “I can’t guarantee it will even be a good party. I’ve never really thrown one before, but I’ve seen them in pictures and on the television.” Since she was speaking specifically to Vera, the entirety of her conversation was in English, “Then again, no one is forcing you. It would just be fun for everyone to get together after we get out of here.”

“That’s for then though. First, we have to get out of here.” She followed in Lori’s footsteps and went to help out Cain. He had downed the beasts, so now it was their turn to finish them off. She snapped her fingers to get Hippocamp’s attention, to which the creature seemed more annoyed than anything. She then pointed at the things, ordering him to strike. He obviously didn’t like being ordered around like this, but he complied. Her Persona would once again use its claws to rip at the creatures’ bodies. If it would actually move, that is. The thing was beginning to look bored with attacking the same enemies over and over. Even if Hippocamp didn’t move, at least Lori and Cain had hit. Her attack was probably pointless, in light of that realization. At least she was having fun with the entire situation. Once the initial fear had left, that is.

“Vera, Right?” Kogami said with a pretty calm voice as he observed her for a few  moments.  There was plenty of ways it could of ended, and his assumptions could be wrong. But just in case they would be right, maybe he should say something after all. He walked over, close to her , but kept a meter of personal space. “ This is one of the areas that I haven’t really travelled in before,  but its mostly because of the reason that  this place is a combination of  all our memories and dreams.  Theres a significance   for each  thing here related to one of us if you pay attention… but,  the reason why I called out to you, is because of that same reason.  It’s the easiest place to get lost, because its impossible to map. I think our best bet is  killing the last shadow here, I’m sure the way out will appear afterwards. And your free to ask me anything else if theres anything you want to know. Im… sure this will be the last time we would meet for the time being, because our lives are so….different…”

Kogami didn’t want a black sheep incident, they had something going on right now. Maybe its in Vera’s nature, but he personally didn’t like the insecure feeling. However, being honest and talking to someone about how insecure they could be is a little over the top. It would be much easier to  just explain a danger of the area and  keep her playing team ball for the time being. It was a best bet for everyone if they were to remain safe. The dreamscape was one of the strangest places, mostly because it’s the personification of our dreams.  Kogami then turns his head, Raiza  waved his sword and aimed at the shadow. Then he launched a gust of wind at one of the twin shadow.  Kogami the casually turns his head and look at  gabby, Chronos, Sagami, and then finally lori.  He shot them all a small smile but it faded slowly when  he stayed fixated on lori for a while. “I guess before we leave, some closure could do us some  good.  Or did you say everything you wanted to say to me?”

Sagami would sigh has his analysis had failed due to the shadow falling. Although, they had won, the shadows were no more. It was to bad he was barely any help. In any case he would wave his hand to the side and the screens would fade out of the air as if they never existed. "Congratulations everyone, I'm glad you all survived. But it seems this is our goodbye... I wish you all good luck." He would look towards Lorielle and smile. "First thing tomorrow, I want you to come over for tea. I need to speak with you about this." He would pull his headphones up and onto his head before he began to walk towards the door, reaching out for it and soon vanishing out of sight soon to awaken in his house.

They could finally leave through the crimson doorway. Maybe it was the entire situation getting to her, but she had never been happier in her life to wake up. Though, she no longer believed this was just a dream. She watched as Sagami and Vera left before her, making their way through the door that didn’t seem to lead anywhere she could see, “Think it’s safe?” She didn’t wait for an answer before going up to the door, “Oh well. I guess we’ll see.” She looked back at everyone that was still there and gave a smile, “Let’s hope we never have to meet like this again. By the way, I was serious about the party. I’ll throw it in a week or so, down in Iwaigodai. I’ll try and send you all the address, if I can. Just show up and have fun.” She then stepped through the door, and left everyone else behind.

Gabby woke up on her futon, her eyes bursting open and her breath racing. She couldn’t believe she had such a strange dream. It felt real and horrible. It was a little too real. She stood up and went to wash her face to make the experience go away. As the water ran, she couldn’t help but let her skepticism take over. As a joke, she called to Hippocamp, “YES?” She stumbled back at the voice in her head, finally letting it sink in that she really did just come back from another world. Now she laughed and went to grab a piece of paper and a pen. She had to make plans for a party.

Cain sheathed his blades, or at least he made a motion too. It seemed that the weapons just vanished when he no longer required them. The twin blade disappeared from his hands in simultaneous flashes of white and red. It was odd, but Cain didn't think much of it. After all, everything had been off today...or tonight? Whatever time it was. Besides it was pretty convenient all things considered. He placed his hands behind his head and looked over at Lorielle with a melancholic expression.

"Well, it's nice to know that on your list of priorities 'Make sure Cain doesn't get electrocuted' comes after 'Plan a party.'" He said with a bit of feigned sadness. Honestly, he wasn't all that mad about fending for himself. After all depending on others to do things for you was just a recipe for disappointment. Besides, those two enemies truly didn't seem all that challenging. In truth, he was a bit madder at not being able to finish them off himself. After all, that fight had been kinda fun, and seeing as he started it alone it was only fitting to end that way too, right?

"Pfft, yeah right. That type of thinking is just asking for trouble. It's just a few steps below saying 'what could possibly go wrong?'" Cain mused to himself. It was a bit of a conundrum to him. There was safety in numbers, but ultimately doing things alone had served him best. If he ended up in this 'Limbo' again, should he really count on anyone here having his back? With a low sigh the young man looked off toward Vera. Obviously the girl hated his guts, but why should he care? Plenty of people probably hated his guts, and with a better reason than 'tried to bother me in a crisis'.  People like her were the exact reason it was smart not to hang on others opinions.  Still, he had little doubt that if he'd actually been in trouble, she wouldn't have lifted a finger to help.  Honestly, why would she? They weren't friends, obviously. Most likely few in this group actually were. Any camaraderie was likely forced upon them by the situation, and would just fade away like the thrill of battle and the fear for their life.  

As he stood there and thought, a few words of hers sprung to his mind: "...Would they mourn?" It was an interesting question. If he actually had died out here, if any of them had, would anyone else actually care? Sure they'd sob a little, maybe shriek or pay some lip service about how they didn't deserve this but would any of them actually even care? With a short groan he threw his hands up in annoyance.  He was bumming himself out and considering this was the first exciting thing to happen in who knows how long, he'd rather savor the victory for a little while than go all angsty. He let out a yawn and simply watched as the others slowly left through the mysterious red door that, like everything here it seemed, had appeared from nowhere. He supposed that their rush made sense, best to leave before they ended up getting attacked again, but honestly he was in no hurry to escape this odd world. Still, maybe for now it would be best not to press his luck and take the action least likely to end up making him a monsters meal?  He scuffed his sneaker on the pavement and turned back to Lori.

"Well, Miss Demon Slayer, this was fun! I'd say we ought to do it again sometime, but between the partying, the DJ'ing, and the mysterious tea time rendezvous about the other-world filled with monsters, it sounds like you've got your hands full." He said turning and strolling toward the red door as if this was just another mundane day. With a slight pause he glanced over his shoulder as he reached a hand out for the doorknob.
"Oh and Kogami," He said as if it were merely an afterthought. "I'll try to return that book of yours soon. Thanks again for lending it to me." He said casually. As soon as he got home he'd have to start reviewing that little gift. Perhaps if he were lucky it could inform him of any other surprises that could pop up.
"Anyway, I'll see you guys around, hopefully under less murder-y circumstances." he said with before letting out a small yawn. The rush must be wearing off; he was beginning to feel a bit tired. Hopefully it was still night back in the normal world. He'd be eager to hit the hay as soon as possible. Cain raised two fingers to his brow in a small salute and pushed open the red door, making his exit.

As expected, she along with Kogami and Gabby defeated the Shadows. Predictably, Vera did not join them. She would turn to look upon Cain as he made his piece of disappointment. “Well, we did defeat them. I would have come sooner, but you were kicking ass. So you looked capable,” she said with a moderately impressed look on her face. For what it was worth, Cain could clearly hold his own. She would turn to see a door, glowing crimson in the middle of the area. Sagami already told him to meet with her the next day, before he went to leave through the door. “Hopefully you know I will be sleeping in,” she said after he had left. She also noticed Vera leave as well. When Cain had come to leave, Lorielle would smile. “I owe you one Cain. Thanks for helping out,” she said. She smiled at Gabby who was also leaving, and gave her a smile. “I will be there. We all did great. I hope we all will,” she would say to her. She seemed to be fairly in a good mood after battling the monster, but then again, she just defeated several monsters, so why would she not be?

However, that would leave her with Kogami. The two alone. Was this what he meant by all this? ‘Was that why he wanted me to follow him…?’ she thought. He was an odd man. He was a creep, and did not know when to leave let enough alone. However, he was at the very least, correct in what he said. Maybe not in the religious aspect, but at least Lorielle could grasp some semblance of honesty he might have had. But then, who would believe his story? She would walk up to him, and give him a light smile. “I want to thank you personally Kogami. You helped. I cannot be any more grateful. However, I imagine many of us will have questions for you. At least, I do. I will come by Iwaigodai in a week I imagine. I can go to the church. Feel free to meet me there in the afternoon. Or not,” she said, nodding at the man before turning to the door herself, and turning back to give him an expressionless face, but give a thumbs up at him, before entering the red door.

When she entered, she found herself awake in her bed, and sitting upright, sweaty in the face, drowsy, and her pajama shirt messed up. Though she would look around, and see her room fully intact and unchanging at all. ‘Was that truly a dream?’ she thought to herself. Though she would put a hand over her chest, and notice the swirling power within her. She was not going insane; she could feel Yhoundeh within her, raging within her as she so chose. ‘Always I am with you, Child of Chaos’ Yhoundeh would speak in her mind. The thought of another voice in her head shook her awake and she would look down, and see the Mark on her chest, literally given to her overnight, that was proof of her contract with the Crawling Chaos. (Look of Mark Here) She would lay back in her bed, not trying to process it until morning, and would check once she woke up in the morning, though she for whatever reason, had little doubt it would be there. “Yhoundeh….Nyarlathotep…” she muttered, before closing her eyes, and falling to sleep, until the inevitable sunrise woke her up.

"Well, i guess thats my closure....now.. time to use my new power......" Kogami said simply as he proceeds to exit the dream world, waking up in the church. The only place that he can possibly call home for a while, he shook his head and started to walk towards the exit. He was going on an errand, and it was time to soread chaos in the name of his god.
