With the enemy dispatched, Maria noticed she didn't feel any pain at this very moment. The symptoms had finally decided to stop adding to her burden, but it never meant the current load went away. While her breathing was remarkably shallow, the Forgotten was starting to get used to condition despite the fact her knees were feeling wobbly. It took her a moment to stand there before feeling confident enough to begin making little steps forward.


That was a horrid blunder back there. Maria couldn't believe that just happened. She was well aware that if one of them fell, the rest would soon follow. With the last member picked off, nobody would be able to help Julius and the Princess would be in the hands of the Psyche Terrorists. It was a thought that Maria couldn't fathom.

And to think that she would be the first. Not only was it embarrassing, it was also mortifying as well. Those limitations were truly beginning to bother her, at least at first. But as usual, there were bigger things to worry about.

Maria began to dig into her pockets and handed some items to the Rogue-User, "Given the current state of things and after what happened just now, it's best if you hold onto these."

In her hands were a number of items that she had received from the earlier team from the Alice investigation. As Vivian took them, Maria began to gesture both Serenity and Vivian to continue where they left off. She considered talking to Serenity and Vivian about her own thoughts so far, but there was a lot that can't be said so easily unless she was truly sure about her conclusions.

Alex was definitely suspicious in many ways. And if he was truly a traitor and this was a strategic operation, then it sounded as if he was the likely culprit than Sera as of now, especially when he should be the closest to Julius and that he was at least familiar to some degree with the current Cadet recruits. And of course, he didn't seem to like them either. Nevertheless, Maria stayed quiet for now. Perhaps her questions would be answered soon enough the deeper they walk into this labyrinth.

Soon they found another door. With quiet and dogged determination, Maria grabbed the doorknob and entered.

Once the door opened, Maria hoped that she made the right decision. Whatever the case was, they made their exit from this side of the labyrinth. Upon entering through the door, it looked like she made the right choice. Nothing didn't seem all the same, so it was a great indicator that she mad the right choice. Just from the first look around, there were different paths compared to the last one. Maria nodded in satisfaction as she began to start moving onward with her companions. But it made her wonder much longer that she'd have to keep going with all of this and how much closer were they to Julius? There was an infection going around, so how were Julius and Alex?

The lack of communication was making things feel more nerve-wracking than ever. But out of everyone, it was obvious that Serenity had the most concerns when it came to her family. Maria tightened her grip on Andraste, remembering her own family. This was only five years ago, but the scene she was witness to would never die away in her memories. In those five years, she wasn't going to let that go to waste. She had changed and made sacrifices.

Finally she will protect something... or die trying.



Her condition wasn't really getting worse, thankfully. But she could only go so far with it until she would finally collapse from exhaustion and the pain. It was getting tempting to reach for the syringe in the coffin she had left behind at the entrance, but they've gotten this far anyway, it was a fruitless desire. And even if she did reach for it, the overdose would be... unimaginable. Not even the pain alone, but the other unknown side effects that would begin to form. She shuddered at the mere thought of it, but the Cadet carried on.

As she finally decided to make a turn, the Cadet's footsteps with her comrades sounded against the floor after she bid them to that direction, "...This way."

Maria continued to lead the way with her Demon Weapon at the ready, but they wouldn't have to travel far. Up ahead there seemed to be a motley group of enemies. As usual, she cocked back the weapon and readied it for use. It was time to fight again.
