Hunting for Clues (Open)

Fate. Such a strange and dangerous woman to observe, but never meddle with. She determined which of her servants were on one’s side for even the tiniest tick of time. She was the one who walked with Destiny, twisting and bending the roads at a whim. She aided no one, but always led the traveler to an end of some sort just as her master had created her to do so. Whether this end was a good one, a bad one, or neutral was left in the Master’s hands. Time would watch and continue to point forward while Death lingered everywhere and nowhere all at once obeying its own rules that even Fate herself could not twist.

Fate and the cosmos she lived in were indeed strange and dangerous, but there were some that were said to be able to communicate with Fate and through the work of the cards and the arcana upon them could show a person only one possibility that could occur in his/her life. These communicators always left the challenge of rising to meet such possibilities open to the one they had revealed, but one hint of truth to; however, the one this hint was given to had the ability to turn away from the challenge and take another of the infinite paths in life that could result in any form of end. After all nothing was constant, except Change and Death, the only two variables guaranteed at any given moment. Everything else shifted in and out of existence. Such was the way of life.

The calm blue eyes of the one sitting on the sofa of the Velvet Room would open slightly and look down at the table that sat before it as fish swam about and the currents of the ocean flowed about. The Velvet Room had been quiet today. Both of the lone male’s sisters were out, leaving the older male alone to rest; however, rest he would not be getting as his eyes lingered on the black covered cards that rested spread upon the table in a straight line.

One of the cards was wiggling begging to be flipped over. Not moving the male would continue to watch the card until finally of its own accord it would flip over revealing the white print on the black background.

Lady Death….

Ah, so it would seem the sign he had been waiting for had finally revealed its face. Yes. He understood what needed to be done now. Getting up quietly, the cards would automatically scoop themselves up in a pile before floating into the air and slipping into the long left sleeve of the robe the male wore. Drifting to the door within the room, the male would pick up the ancient medicine box from the corner and slip it upon his back as he entered the light of the door.

As he stepped out, he would be standing in the middle of an intersection where things about him flowed at a quick pace, zooming about him in blurs as he remained for a moment in a space between existence and dream as he began to walk. Slowly, but surely time would slow down and resume its normal pace as Akumu was allowed to enter the human world in such a way that it would appear he was always there.

While it was true some people gave him funny looks due to his dress wear and other odd features upon him, the resident of the Velvet Room hardly paid this any mind as he continued to walk forward with a single mission in mind: Find clues as to what had happened in this world to cause a shift in the shadow world and in turn allow them to spill forth into a realm they did not belong in….
