Witness Protection [Vitale/Edgar]

Vitale felt like an idiot with Edgar’s humorous comment. He did not like being patted like some sort of innocent child, however he chose to ignore it even if his face showed disapproval towards a belittling treatment. Edgar was being nice to him overall, so he could pass that. “I don’t know, mister…”, Vitale said, scanning through the clothing section. His previous clothes were the clothes he wore ever since he ran from home, back when he was 13. Now, a young adult in his 18, of course those dirty, torn rags didn’t fit anymore considering the overuse and his own growth. Besides, this technology talk wasn’t his cup of tea, his ignorance made it hard to comprehend all functionalities Edgar was trying to teach and show. That and there was a palatable awkwardness in being pampered like a child. “Your clothes are already comfy enough. I mean, this is comfy… Do you think I should change looks?”

"Hm... well it would help me see you less as a child if that was the case. To be honest, clothes are apart of your individuality. The reason why I'm trying to promote that into your mind is due to the fact that I want you to take back your life as much as possible. Then, I won't worry too much. Alright?" Maybe he was coddling Alex in a way, but it was only temporary. In the end, Alex would be able to handle certain things on his own and maybe he would be better off for it.

Some time passes and the food's here, rather presented nicely to alex on the small dining table by Edgar.

"Dig in, this place is pretty good."

Vitale didn’t understand Edgar’s logic, but he didn’t object either. It felt strange, to be honest. Being pampered is a feeling he had long forgotten… There were some memories coming back when the detective mentioned something like “taking his life back”, but none were good enough. Still, not something worth dwelling on.

When the food came, his mouth got instantly watery. He adjusted his position in the couch and headed to the dining table, sitting. He honestly didn’t believe it, so much that his immediate reaction was to do the crux sign over his chest, close his eyes and unite his hands in a prayer.

“What about you? Won’t you eat too?”

"No i'm the kind of guy who likes to be a good host. I want to make sure that you are well taken care of while under my care, there's no real reason why I should prioritize myself at this moment. I have everything I want, but you...do not. So...." Edgar went to his small kitchen and got some small utensils. He also brought out a few other pieces of silverware so that Vitale can a least have the experience of being able to eat and dine like a human being. After laying it out in front of him and pouring Vitale a glass of Lemonade, Edgar would sit back down. "Don't worry, it's not a trick question of putting all those silverware in front of you. However, use a fork. Certain foods you don't use your hands with, this is one of them."
