Mae only stood there, ready for an eventual attack, with her persona hovering close behind her. In her weakened state, she didn't exactly feel confident with attacking again, and opted to get some strength back instead.

So Mae was going to play the same strategy Maya was? In that case, now would be the time to get aggressive. She would slide along the ground, able to control her movement in case Mae tried to dodge to the side. She would leap up into the air had Mae attempted to take flight. During this, she would take her blade, and run her through with it, slashing horizontally at her body. Should the first attack connect, she would wrap around her body and slice her torso again with her other blade, holding her body in place. Both her skill and Mae's lesser speed made it easy for Maya to close the distance and overcome her in distance and agility. If the first attack did not connect, she would simply rebound by pushing off the ground behind her and running her through with her blade. "Hmph..." she managed to release a grunt from the fight, having to force her on the edge and do something a little bolder than usual.

A Retriever:

Well, looks like her opponent would finally begin to act. The distance wasn't great, but it gave both Mae and Tenryu enough time to react. Since her opponent decided to slide alongside the ground, that would be the perfect place to strike. Through instinct, the Dragon would let loose a wide stream of flames from it's mouth, creating a 20 meter high and wide wall of fire, which moved along the ground and curved at the top, making a direct ascent upwards ill advisable, stopping Maya dead in her tracks a good meter or so away from Mae, unless she wanted to rush through the flames. Mae herself backed away a couple of feet just as the wall itself was raised, preparing herself for a Maya bursting through to hit her.

It didn't take much effort to pass over the fiery wall that Mae was summoning. Not so much that the wall itself was weak, but the difference they had in speed due to her Soul Skill and Debilitate made her nearly twice as fast as Mae. She'd easily cross the tiny distance and then the some distance that Mae was trying to make, and perform those original cutting actions in order to get her into her grasp. She would continue to dig her blade deeper into Mae's body, causing more pain to her as Maya kept a firm grip with her arms around her body. If nothing else, she was weakening her more to Maya's liking. She would certainly be in Prime danger for future attacks due to her proximity, but the outcome was well worth it.

Mae had completely underestimated the difference in speed between the two, and was somewhat caught off guard by her assailants attack, the swords cutting through her soul four times before Mae did the unthinkable. She had been pushed into a corner, and with nowhere else to run, her persona dove through Maya's body and into Mae, in one final effort to at least badly damage her enemy before the fight was truly over... which it was in this case. From the union of the two souls, a massive flame erupted, covering half of the entire arena, the flames going so far up that they almost licked the cieling. It wasn't enough to stop the attack, nor was it enough to defeat Maya Briggs... but it was good enough in her book. Her opponent had beaten her fair and square, and she would learn from her mistakes. Perhaps she would grow stronger from this little ordeal.

They were close, so it's not as though she could suddenly avoid it and get away in time, the flame would easily overtake her. However she would steel herself through the flames and continue to cut at her body. If Mae wanted out she would have to try something to force Maya out. She could still hold on, but she was closing in on her limit too. Her blades would rake across Mae quickly to quickly finish the job as soon as possible.

A Retriever:

Mae could feel the strength and speed of her powers return, and she wouldn't waste any time. Shorly after releasing her flaming inferno, she'd focus the flames within her to the soles of her feet, and blast herself along the ground with such force that Maya was simply forced to let her go, unless she had super-human strength, there was no way she could halt the acceleration generated by Mae's Searing Shot backwards. She'd land about 6 meters away from her enemy and quickly got back up on her feet, as she slashed the magician card, to summon Qilin. The flaming horse burst forth, and covered Mae in an intense flash of light before fading away again, with Mae, while tired, taking a fighting stance once more. Sure, she didn't have Tenryu anymore for this battle, but she'd still hit Maya with everything she had left in her! This fight was coming to an end, and both fighters had fought bravely up until the very end. And Mae wanted to at least end this fight by forcing Maya to go through everything she had as well. Because if Mae had fought an enemy who was holding back this entire time, well... then it wouldn't be much of a victory, now would it?

Seeing Mae attempt to shoot up simply gave her an idea. As Mae shot up, she would hold her blades in place, so that even if her attack would force her apart, her own initial shot upward would grate along her two blades, giving her damage from both anyway. The flames themselves only large enough to be under her feet, so Maya would be able to avoid it though feeling the heat lick her skin as she flew up. In response, she would leap skyward with her blades to catch her mid flight, able to dive towards the ground in case Mae attempted to become aerodynamic. Quick movements in the air were not out of her power. She would send her blades through her body after she would catch him out of the air and bring her right back to the ground in a very unpleasant way. She definitely wasn't far and within her reach. Had she tried another movement to push them apart instead of flying then she would have forced Maya to at least recuperate before striking again. Alas this movement may have compromised her plan.

The blades tearing through her hurt like hell as she flew away from her aggressor... but the flight wouldn't last very long, as Maya attempted to grab hold of her again, and prevent her from flying away. In fact, the two were on a crash course straight down again. Mae would instinctively wrap her legs around Maya's waist, preventing her from moving away from Mae, as she brought up her soulbound to parry both Sword swings. With the length of her weapon, this was an easy feat, given the distance between the two and the limited movement space. She wasn't done yet though. Quilin would appear from behind Maya, and blast her in the back with a focused Jet of flames, careful not to harm Mae's legs or any other part of her master's body with the fire. Mae herself took a deep breath, and Exhaled a blue plume of Flames all over Maya's face before the two hit the ground with a resounding *THUD*. Should this plan of attack succeed, Mae would win...

When Mae parried her blades, Maya figured she had a goal in mind that involved something in the air. However, to coordinate such a movement that involved trapping her within her legs in the air was an impressive feet, that would definitely not be happening unless Mae had been closer. After all the blades were extended from Maya so it's not like they were right on top of each other. Maya would pull her arms away and attempt to kick off of Mae's own body, using her agility skill which pushed her towards the ground; letting her land properly on her feet with impressive ability. The attack that Mae would summon would be going to her instead of Maya now that she was out of the crossfire. She couldn't count on attacking herself midflight to deal damage, so she had to make this stalemate work in her favor.
