A Lesson in Self-Defense - Sawada Judai's Awakening

The speedy attack was rather unsteady, one of the punches missing, but the other slamming into the Demon with crushing force. The blow seemed to have hit something important too.

"Going well." Judai grinned. This wasn't too bad. Sure he was in a life and death battle with a demon, seen a man get murdered in front of him, and was just electrocuted a minute ago and... where was he going with this again. Because now that he thought about his night, it still seemed like it sucked.

"Keep pouring it on." Judai called out. Mach switched back to the Max Flare Shift Car complete with Driver call and fanfare music.

"Shift Car! Tire Koukan Moerl!"

Mach twirled the Zenrin Shooter before slapping the tire section of the gun. The wheel began to spin rapidly and smoke before the entire wheel ignited on fire.

"Zenrin!"

Mach rushed forward and swung the flaming spinning tire at the dizzy demon.

Judai grinned as Mach drew the final blow. The Demon faded away leaving nothing behind. Now that he was safe, Judai let out a breathe of relief and his body released tension he did not know he was holding. His body fell down to a kneeling position as he gasped for breathe.

"Okay, I'm alive." Judai looked down at his body carefully, noting that he did in fact have all his limbs and that his body was mostly unharmed. What he had missed in the heat of the moment when fighting the Demon was that his clothes had changed. His casual clothing had been replaced by spandex and a hoodie. He snorted. That seemed about right. He had transformed to gain power and summoned a Kamen Rider to fight, may as well look the part.

He looked around and swallowed hard at the sight of the thief's unresponsive body. He stared at it for a moment before looking around. The odd guy who had dropped a gun in his hands was gone, must have disappeared. Shit. Judai felt his body start to shake and a nervous laughter leaked out of his lips.

Mach dusted his hands and dismissed the Zenrin shooter. The Kamen Rider pulled up the V-helmet and let out a blast of steam before approaching Judai. The Persona knelt in front of Judai and tapped him on the head. The teen looked up at the manifestation of his power in confusion. The masked warrior gave him a cheeky wave before pulling Signal Bike out of the Honou Driver and slotting it down empty. The Persona faded away, taking Judai's new spandex suit along with it, with the Driver calling out a cheery, "Otsukare!"

Judai couldn't help it and laughed at the roundabout way of telling him good job. His Persona had the right idea. This had been a terrible night. He had been mugged, saw someone die, gained power and fought off a demon. But it had been a productive day. He had gained something out of it and he had transformed and survived. He could congratulate himself for now. There would be time to mourn the death of the thief and have a breakdown later in the safety and privacy of his home.

"So I'm a Persona user, huh?" Judai shook his head at the craziness of those words. This was the power that had nearly destroyed the world. It was now in his, admittedly irresponsible, hands now.

He looked around at the city at Night. It all seemed clearer for some reason. He should probably report this, go to the authorities and see what they could tell him. But for some reason, that didn't appeal to him. He wanted to see how far he could take this power and what new things he could uncover. He had just shattered the shackles that bound him. No need to gather new ones just yet.

Judai Sawada slid his hands back into his pockets and once more walked down the empty streets towards his home. He whistled a cherry tune, completely relaxed despite the danger of the Night. He could protect himself now after all.
