Shadow Destroyed - PvS Combat over

Huh, that was easy. Apparently, after such a display of intimidation, the Shadow was slain after performing just one single attack… fun. Rita’s face twisted into one of confusion as she assumed that Julian delivered the final blow, though she really didn't know herself so it was a moot point. Afterwards, she’d give a sigh of disappointment as Nero vanished back into her mind; she’d also remove the earbuds from her ears and turn off her MP3 player, putting it back neatly into her sling-on bag.

“That could have been worse… good work, Julian, that was some impressive fightin’ you did.” Giving him a genuine smirk of satisfaction, Rita’d yawn and stretch for a second before turning to him in a bit of a haughty pose, with her hand on one hip while the other one was thrust outward. “What do you say to another battle? This one was barely even challenging, you should still be alright for another simple one, right?” Asking him this seriously, she’d just turn to leave the room where they were right now, stomping into the sand hard enough to be able to plant her feet into it so as to not lose balance.

Afterwards, she’d look around a bit, now removing her sunglasses since it seemed the sandstorm had dispersed in this area and it was now easier to breath in… regardless, she’d leave her glasses sitting on top of her head as she looked around for a relatively simple path to follow… well, she couldn't say it was easy, but at least she found it… so, picking herself up and removing her gun from its holster, Rita moved cautiously down further into the desert, careful to survey the area once in a while for Shadows.

Assuming that Julian was still following her, Rita would now turn to him with a cautious stare. “Be careful around here… you can feel these things too, right? This place is crawling to the brim with them, you can never be too cautious…” It’d be hard to believe but Rita was actually genuinely worried about Julian right now… more so because she wouldn't be able to explain coming out with a dead body into school, much less of a classmate than it was pure worry… still, she’d be slightly preoccupied on whether Julian could fend for himself well or not, he did look a bit unsure in that battle once the Shadow emerged, Rita wouldn't be surprised if he was a newbie like her…

Regardless, when it was obvious that a Shadow was near, Rita would stop dead in her tracks and plant her position well into the desert sand, urging Julian to do the same if he was still following her. “It’s near… you might as well summon your Persona now if you haven’t already.” Rita couldn't afford to look behind herself right now, but she would summon her sword into her hand and her Persona from her mind, the blonde-haired girl standing between the two Users as the silver-haired girl just examined the situation. The Shadows should still be relatively far away, so they wouldn't notice them yet… regardless, she’d ready herself for anything right now, simply hoping that nothing bad happened to the two of them, lest we have more disappearances on our hands…

Jak cocked his head as the worm disappeared from sight, leaving nothing but the billowing sand. Julian blinked, equally stunned at how simple the whole thing had been. did the shadow really go down after just a few hits? ...Damn. Emmilene had been tougher than that thing. Was it wrong to feel a little disappointed, even though he was relieved the battle was finished?

Seeing as how the blonde persona had disappeared, it might be a good idea to send his own little "friend" away for now. A brief look at the demon was all it took for Jak to fade into dark grey smoke which dissipated as another gust of humid air swept past. Satisfied that that was done, Julian turned back to Shino, his lips quirking upwards in a lopsided smirk. "Thanks. You're not half bad yourself." ...Hm...she wanted to go off and fight another one? ...Couldn't hurt, he guessed. He could use the practice, and he still felt pretty good. Hell, the worm hadn't even touched him throughout the whole fight. "I'm game." He took her pushing onward as acceptance and a silent order to follow, so follow he did.

As they walked along, the sand whipping around began to die down, finally stopping a few minues later. Folding back his hoodie sleeve, the teen carefully wiped the dust from his eyes, twitching once or twice as he held back a sneeze. Geez, if he ever came back here, he'd probably have to gear up like it was winter or something. Heavy boots might make walking this way easier. Scarves wrapped around his face would prevent him choking on sand. Well, not like the latter happened, but it didn't hurt to keep the precaution in mind.

Shino's comment seemed a little obvious to him. This was an alternate world. They'd already been attacked once. There was a really creepy feel to the air. Why the hell wouldn't he be careful? Still, he only gave her a short nod before focusing on glancing around, checking for anything that moved. The last thing he wanted was another creepy worm to sneak up on them. Having that thing pop up under his feet didn't seem fun at all.

// The hell...? // That suffocating feeling was starting to get a little thicker in the air. Judging from the way his companion tensed, he figured it was a sign trouble was near. Her quiet urging was all it took for him to reach into his pocket and tap the pulsing blue butterfly icon, simultaneously tightening his grip on the knife that hadn't left his hand once since he'd stepped foot in this alternate reality. It was a little comforting having Jak behind him once again, but Julian couldn't help but feel a bit on edge for the moment.

Hm, that was reassuring. It was nice to know that Julian had come with her, and even more so when he actually returned the compliment. At this point, though, Rita was beginning to get a bit fed up with the heat, it being too much for even her right now… still, the really annoying thing in the way right now was the searing bright sun that shone with the energy that seemed to topple their reality’s own tenfold. For that, Rita simply brought out her shades again, ones that anyone would recognize would be blocker glasses, pretty thick so she could actually see without the damn light assaulting her vision.

“Seems it’s still quite a ways away… Julian, do you want to go ahead? I don’t think I can take it by surprise by myself.” Looking towards her companion, Rita closed her eyes to think for a moment, her Persona acting as another set just in case. The Shadows were close, but not close enough where one of them could go right in for a surprise attack… it was a shame, but she doubted that startling the Shadows and gaining the upper hand on them would be a tough task.

“Actually, keep following me for now, please, but as soon as we see a hint of the Shadows, I need you to quickly run to them and strike them first so they can’t get to us.” She’d nod afterwards with a hum. “And don’t worry, I’ll be right behind you.” Rita smirked at this last sentence, hoping that Julian wouldn’t think it was a lie, at least, and continued on through the dunes, being ever vigilant. Nero, in turn, would walk gracefully next to Julian as if the sand didn’t affect her at all. If anything, Nero would look as elegant as a queen right now, strolling simply through the desert without a care, a cocky smile upon her face. The Golden-haired Roman Emperor would turn to Julian’s Persona, almost as if examining it, before speeding up to keep up to Rita, placing her crimson-tinged visage between the two users.

“My Praetor, I hope the plan works.” Nero wouldn’t speak in a low voice, they both knew what they were talking about and Julian should too, her talking about it out loud should only go to show that Rita wasn’t intending on hiding anything from him… aside from her real name, that is. Still, the silver-haired girl just gave her Persona a nod and took a few test swings with her sword in front of her, letting it vanish afterwards into thin air. She didn’t intend on using it in any fight right now, so she’d simply sigh and continue walking forward, a care not being found within her at all.

Well, nothing jumped out at them for the moment. That was a good thing. Julian saw no point in forcing Jak away for the moment, though; no doubt something was going to come up soon, and the teen trusted the demon's intuition--or, well, more like his animal tendencies--more than his own. Sparing a glance at the supernatural entity as they walked, it was almost hard for him to tell that just a few minutes ago Jak had been cackling at the bloody mess he'd made of a monster. For the moment, the persona was walking along silently, posture eerily erect and his entire body poised like a gentleman. Well, a gentleman with purple eyes, pointed ears, and almost seven feet tall, but a gentleman nevertheless.

Shino's question prompted Julian to fix his eyes on her face, silently gauging her expression before he answered. They were working together for now, but he didn't like the thought of going ahead while she stayed behind. OR, more specifically, behind him. Both her persona and this girl seemed deadly with a blade, and he'd rather not press his extraordinary luck just to see whether or not he'd get a knife in the back. "Maybe not by yourself, yeah. But it's better to stay together for now. Safety in numbers, right? Especially in this place."

She seemed to take his words to heart, as he battle plan changed right away. He gave a slight nod of affirmation at her words, keeping in mind the doubt that popped up. // Right behind me...That's what I'm afraid of. // A light smirk of his own adorned his face, matching hers as he trekked on with Jak at his side. The persona spared a glance at the blonde girl, meeting her gaze. He seemed to freeze for a moment, perhaps in shock, before his cheek twitched and an uncertain, miserable attempt at a smile was made. He seemed noticeably disappointed as Nero sped on, his straight spine bending just slightly.

Julian listened quietly to the blonde woman's quip. Out of the two, apparently the servant was the more cautious. Maybe that made the group balanced; after all, Julian was pretty careful himself, while Jak seemed to live for the fight. Well, that's what it seemed from the few times the two worked together at least. Maybe this outing would help the two work together a little better.

As she distinctly noticed a Shadow's presence in the air, Nero pulled on Rita's clothing to stop her, making the silver-haired girl stomp her feet into the ground and withdraw her weapon with a serious face.

"Right ahead, don't go further, My Praetor." Both of the two seemed to be incredible tense, as if they knew that their cautiousness would be their downfall as the Shadow would catch them before they could reach it. In any case, Rita relaxed for a moment and checked her phone for the time, a frown on her face appearing at the same time as she saw it.

"Julian... I'm sorry to ask you this, but do you mind rushing the Shadow now? I can't reach it fast enough where I'd be able to get a good hit on it before it hit me. I really can't do it without your help, Julian, that's the truth." Her own words seemed to be a strike at her ego, as if the inability to do such physically harmed her... in truth, her words should sounds completely honest, as if there was no chance they could be a lie. This was the case, of course, but Rita wouldn't even think of lying right now. Hell, she didn't even lie about her name, it was just one she preferred to be known as by strangers and acquaintances.

There had been tense silence in the air as they walked on. Now that the blonde persona announced that something--an enemy, he assumed--was close by, the group ground to a sudden halt and that anxiety in the air grew so thick Julian could almost taste it on his tongue. He glanced over his shoulder for a second, just to check that whatever the girl claimed to sense wasn't actually sneaking up behind them. ...Hm. No, that way looked clear. The thing must be ahead, then.

...The hell was Shino doing? Checking her phone? Now? As much as he wanted to hope it was for a good reason, the teen couldn't help but feel mildly irritated. If she had a map or something else useful on there, that was one thing, but if she was looking at that thing for the hell of it, so help him... Still, he waited patiently for her to say something, focusing instead on keeping his features relaxed and calm instead of mirroring Shino's frown.

"...Fine." Her suggestion--well, maybe plea was a better fit here--wasn't too surprising. She'd talked about this earlier, after all. What made him more suspicious than anything was just how hard she tried to sell her idea. "She couldn't do it without him"? Please. So what if she was slower than he was? She seemed to have some idea of what she was doing. He doubted she would be completely hopeless in this situation without him. So what was with the almost begging? "Wait a minute before coming after us. If I don't see you, I'll assume you ditched us." he smiled brightly as he spoke and his tone was easy enough, but he looked over the two girls carefully for a moment, silently demanding they keep true to their word. He was willing to take this risk because Hyde--as dubious a contact as he was--knew this girl, but if she ended up reneging and leaving him and his persona to fend for themselves, needless to say he wouldn't be too pleased. Julian glanced over at Jak and nodded his head in the direction they had been walking just a minute ago. "You in the mood to play a little?"

That was all the encouragement Springheeled Jak needed. A twisted grin that bared his sharp canines spread over his face as the demon leapt forwards and dashed away in the direction the shadow was supposed to be. Julian let out a slight sigh before looking at the girls one last time with a small, lopsided smile. "See you in a minute." With that done his expression sobered before he followed his persona, moving quickly yet cautiously as he kept an eye out for whatever Shino's persona claimed to sense.

A Horde of Shadows Is blocking your way... - PvS Combat has Begun

Shadow Horde:

“…alright, fine.” At this point, Rita was almost offended that he’d consider the possibility of her ditching them… she didn’t completely trust him either, sure, but the idea of leaving someone to die in some strange world was completely repulsing to her, it made her want to beat the shit out of the one who did that to her friend, even… nevertheless, Rita wasn’t about to let herself be put down by it. A lot had happened so, right now, all that mattered was finishing what she had to do here…

Following the instruction, Rita waited a full minute before dashing out herself, keeping her speed as high as possible to accommodate for trying to not make a sound. As she saw what they were fighting, though… Rita couldn’t help but be a little scared. It was a horde, and it seemed to be a big one at that. At least right now, though, she couldn’t let her impromptu teammate down. To the effect, she just went out and dashed to Julian’s side, though not very close so as to not obstruct his space that he’d need to fight. Since Nero was already out, it was a simple matter of stepping back and readying herself for any oncoming attacks.

“What was that about me ditching you?” It was a smirk, sure, but to Rita, it was more like a genuine smile. Indeed, she held some pride in being reliable, even going out of her way to help out people more than once in her lifetime. She couldn’t stand being seen as someone people couldn’t trust, so when a person comes along and didn’t allow themselves to trust her? She’d just have to make them see how trustworthy she was in truth. To be honest, Rita only cared about making justice… it was something she was born with, the girl just can’t pass up the opportunity to help someone she cares about… at least, when it comes to processes she can actually take and people she can actually help.

Regardless, while everything was still settling, Nero was already primed, giving a cocky grin at the horde of Shadows before moving to face it head-on. “My Praetor, leave this to me…” Only a quick slash was heard but Nero was definitely moving to rip the flesh of the Shadows as fast as possible, trying her hardest to slash as many from the horde as she could. Rita, upon seeing this, would back up to let her Persona do the work, trusting in her instincts.

Well hell. He'd expected something big or nasty, but not a swarm of these things. Damn. Well, he wasn't about to run away, so there wasn't really another option besides fighting. At least his persona seemed gleeful about that.

Without any prompting, Jak darted forwards towards the edge of the shadows, letting out a dark chuckle and peering at the monsters with a gleam in his eyes. When one was close enough to reach out and grab at him, he immediately lashed out, batting at it with his sharp nails and letting out a dark chuckle.

Julian watched from a short distance away, drawing his knife across his chest in a more defensive position as he watched the shadows focus on Jak for the moment, wary of any stragglers that may catch sight of him and make the teen their new target. His attention was diverted for a moment as Shino ran up. Without thinking, a small smirk graced his face as she spoke. That was all the response she was getting for now, though; witty replies and words of thanks could wait until this was all over.
