Profession: Former “Hound,” aka Jackal

Appearance: Wildy disheveled ashen hair frames an almost statuesque face, often covering the right side of Jackdaw’s piercing fuschia eyes. A lilac marking covers his left eye, an almost lightning bolt-like brand. Encircling his neck is a vicious scar. Standing at the completely average height of most men at 5’9”, his posture is usually slumped and casual regardless. With a wiry but lean frame, his muscles are well toned and his body quite fit.

Barcode and circuit-like bands of tattoos wrap around his forearms to his wrists. A pair of jagged lines streak across his upper chest and underneath the clavicle, starting from his sides and ending before the ribcage. The entirety of his back is tattooed with a black hole that eerily looks to be consuming his skin. Its void appears so real, that if one stares at it long enough, it slowly churns and spirals along his back, reaching out to his shoulders and sides, pulling in the streaks of starry light inked upon his body.

Appearance:

Personality: At his core Jackdaw is a free wheeling and easygoing spirit that comes and goes as he pleases, and often introduces himself as “Jack.” Also an asshole with a heart of silver (nobody’s perfect). It seems as if the only person Jackdaw cares for is himself considering he is brutally arrogant; his ego and self-confidence bloats to such a degree that sometimes that is all he talks about if given the chance. In fact Jack loves the attention he gets and more than explains that attitude.

With a tendency to ignore proper tact around strangers he is very informal and crass- his stilted vocabulary peppered by a Northern British accent is known to be riddled with expletives. A nonchalant and indifferent demeanor towards strangers and even those he knows doesn’t help his image any better either. Bluntly honest or lying to enjoy himself, Jackdaw can take almost anything to a grandiose extreme, considering his life could end at any moment. This unfortunately includes inopportune moments for flirtatious advances, much to others’ chagrin.

Once people get past his intense and larger than life nature, they may find a somewhat sincere person with a skewed sense of humor. It’s too much effort for him to express those feelings so he usually suppresses it and keeps it saved for choice moments. Jack simply finds it easier to tease and deride to show his affection.

—Description: Easily swept up in the searing heat and wild tides of battle while knowing how important morale and mindset can be, Jackdaw sharpens his focus to come out the victor. Any buff skill applied to him lasts an additional round of combat.

—Description: Unable to bear anyone besting him in terms of physical capability, Jackdaw’s Dexterity is raised by 15%.

—Description: Coupled with the mental blocks Abaddon has taken while in possession of Jackdaw’s body, an equally taxing physical demand of difficulty sleeping plagues the host. His ability to resist Sleep decreases by 15%.

—Description: Despite his blasé attitude, the hot bloodedness of a former marauder and slave for demons still runs through the veins of Jackdaw; his Rage resistance is reduced by 15%.

Demon Weapon: Abaddon’s Maw

Weapon Name: Abaddon, Apollyon, The Destroyer
Weapon Description: Six cross-shaped bladed stars, each a foot in length, orbit around Jackdaw. Their aura emanates electrical sparks and a shadowy purple haze which tethers itself to him when using skills. These fangs may combine to form a serrated greatsword, bend and articulate like a whip, or may individually attach to Jack’s limbs as bladed extensions of his body. Abaddon’s parasitism of Jackdaw manifests itself as a haunting tattoo-like brand of a black hole on his back. This conceals its blatant form.

The Background

History: Jackdaw’s memories are fragmented due to his symbiosis with the Demon Weapon Abaddon. Names, faces, and events are either missing or haphazardly strewn and mixed about in his recollection. There is one constant though- in that he is a survivor of countless massacres and tragedies.

From what he has pieced together, his early life as a vagrant consisted of him flitting from one group to another, only for them to fall to the Demonic horde. In order to feel less attached and fall victim he assumed a different persona with each new survivor group he encountered. Picking up and teaching any new skills he could learn, he distanced himself from others ultimately. When that group fell, he took on personality traits from them and his past when adapting a new facade. He always named himself a variant that could be nicknamed “Jack.”

Eventually in his indomitable will to survive he was coerced into joining a group of marauders. While hazy at best along with most of his memories, it’s a dark path he doesn’t wish to retrace his steps upon. Oddly enough, this dreadful time contains the most dominant and memorable personality that emerged from Abaddon’s abyssal consumption of his mind and body- Jackdaw.

The last trial of horrors he remembers is serving as one of Demeter’s “Hounds,” human slaves that would track, infiltrate, then subvert vagrant human survivor groups, ultimately leading to capture or murder. In fact the chameleon-like Jack was so well accomplished that instead of being a nameless slave dog, he was granted the title of “Jackal.” This in turn led to his candidacy of the Demon Weapon Abaddon.

Up until that point every attempt to pair the former Archangel with a human host ended in failure. If the Hellish Prince of the Abyss didn’t devour his hosts bodies, their minds were either broken or lost, rendering them nearly catatonic. Emerging as a survivor once again, Jack was the first human to successfully bond with Abaddon, albeit at a heavy cost.

Continuing on towards the present, Jackdaw greatly relishes the taste of freedom once again. Knowing how fragile this mortal coil can be, especially with an unknown scar that loops around his neck like a noose, he doesn’t take it for granted.
