Raidou Kuzunoha VS The Devourer [Closed]

Reward for Penny:

The ground cracked under the very force of Raidou's step forward as her center of gravity followed. A single quick flash trailed behind for a split-second. The nearby glass windows within the path ahead shattered. Yaksha was blown back from the very power of her attack as he wordlessly howled from the sheer devastation and sailed further inside the alleyway before crashing into a wall and left behind a hole. He wasn't going to come back after that, she knew. Swinging her blade in a chiburi-like fashion and sheathing it, Raidou breathed a sigh of relief. She didn't like how it all ended, but if she was certain the demon was still alive.

"Scary, scary! You gave that fatty what for!" Sylph remarked with respect and cheeriness. It was clear Raidou's strength was not lacking at all. But she seemed deflated and more melancholy. "So, I guess you're the new Raidou, huh? Then 'he' must be..."

"That's why we were looking for you. Even you don't know where he is?" Gotou asked her. He purred ever slightly in displeasure. Their first possible lead in five years and it was a dead-end? That can't be it. Undeterred, Raidou added, "We lost contact with him five years ago when the Divide took place. You were one of the last demons he took with you, can you tell us what you remember?"

Sylph's expression began to droop further at the memory. It was painful and scary, but she spoke without much hesitation as her head began to shake from side to side. "He was chasing after two girls in Endymion. Wasn't even sure who they were. But, I think they're linked to what happened back then. When it was happening, he sent us over to protect the humans. It was... awful. I couldn't get back to him even then because of that mess and when it was over, it was all rubble with nasty demons hanging around. Our contract was cut off too... So I just ended up trying to make ends meet..."

The detective and cat duo grimaced. So close, but so far. This wasn't information they needed. But, there was still some hope. There had to be other demons, right? "Have you been keeping in contact with the others?"

The demon scoffed at the cat. "Them? No way. I only joined Raidou because he was real nice and fun to mess with. But I heard there's a demon scaring children away from the Forest of the Lost. If it's that guy, then maybe he'll know better."

"Then that'll be our next lead," Raidou nodded. She was feeling a little more determined now. Raiho's lead didn't quite get anywhere, but they still could get something out of it. It wasn't going to be easy and knowing that, she addressed her, "Will you join us, Sylph? We could use your help."

She pinched her chin in thought for one moment. But soured her face at the thought of it after taking a glance at Raidou and Gotou. "Mmm... I dunno. You don't look as fun as him. Kitty is an ass, to be honest."

Raidou was truly beginning to feel it was better to heeded the feline earlier. It was little wonder her predecessor and the cat preferred to have avoided her. Now it was her turn to have a little taste of vexation. They were both about to prompt farewells to end this night and to distance themselves away from her.


In a flash of a green ball of light, the demon inserted herself Raidou's summoning tubes. The devil summoner could feel her presence inside the bamboo shoot and patted at it, assuring herself that was it one small step. An annoying one to be sure, but it was a vital step. The sirens began to scream in the distance.
