First Impressions (Noire/Closed)

Shiro wasn't exactly happy. It was a weird sort of...not really caring, at this point. His favorite mangas were all ending, he had noticed, and he was running low on reading material...for when he wasn't reading actual books. Checks of the internet and the library hadn't turned up anything he'd be interested in. Which left only a few options. He could ask some people around the school-which was right out, he needed to have his secrets, after all. And THAT was one of his more touchy secrets...so yeah, there was no chance of him doing that one...the other one was reading a bunch of manga he figured he'd hate. Well...looked like the second one was his option.

After school, he sat near a tree and began thumbing through a pile of first volumes he had gathered. This was going to be a very long, very painful, and very boring process...

Partisan had been out and about as she was busy trying to learn more at her school. Recently she had a tendency to read all kinds of strange works of fiction that she found to try and discover culture in that method. This eventually led her to reading a strange new type of media known as manga. It definitely intrigued her as she wanted to know more. She wondered whether she could talk to her classmates about it and hopefully start making some friends. She eventually brought one to school and tried to get people to talk to her about it. It didn't go very well.

Just when the little robot was about to give up her search when she eventually came across someone after school near a tree. She smiled when she saw he had piles of manga with him and she almost ran over to him. "You have lots of manga! I like manga." she said excitedly as she inspected this boy from top to bottom. "I am Partisan" she said plainly and bluntly, as if from a recording.

Shiro looked up, silent, lips pursed. Well, he hadn't been expecting...whoever this weird person was. It wasn't as though he had been caught off guard, or anything, he just...didn't see it coming. The small book in his hands was closed with a snap, as he stared at this...intruder. He wasn't quite sure how to start this conversation, so he took a very deep breath, closing his eyes.

'Well, she's weird. Why does she care about what I read so much? More importantly, what kind of name is THAT?' He shook his head, and opened his eyes again. He looked over her, apparently sizing her up, before sighing.

"I am Shiro Matsuki. It's nice to meet you." He decided to be polite. She hadn't done anything particularly wrong, after all. And being rude for no reason simply wasn't part of his character...most of the time.

Partisan smiled at the fact that he was talking to her and seemed to be nice, so he certainly seemed like a possible friend for her to make. "I like that I met you too!" she said as she sat down next to him and looked over at what he was reading. While Partisan didn't really smell like metal, she definitely didn't smell human as she sat next to him. "Can we be friends?" she said as she asked the most important question that she wanted answered right now, since a friend would allow her to better understand what the humans call friendship.

Shiro blinked. "Sure." It was easier to just agree, he decided. He was good at hiding, so once this little encounter was done he could just hide and wait for this 'friend' to go away. He was someone who enjoyed his privacy, and friends didn't exactly fit with that. Now, if there was some in-depth dating sim way of making and sustaining friendships, with incentives and power-ups, maybe then he would interact with more people. But honestly, that seemed as though it would never happen. "You can read one of the books, if you want."

Partisan smiled as she picked up some of the books and began to read them with him as she felt herself learning more and more from this book. As she read about it, she considered her new friend and what she knew about him, which was very little. She really wanted to learn more, but something was nagging to her that she shouldn't go all the way yet. She looked at him for a second before she said, "Thank you Shiro Matsuki. I am glad that you said yes. I don't really have any friends yet. So I am glad that you are now my friend." she said as she read the manga with him, still coming off as a little strange and alien.

Shiro stared. Who used full names in casual conversation? Still, he wasn't going to complain about it. He wasn't the best at conversations himself. In fact, he probably wasn't doing great in this conversation either. He sighed. Huh. Maybe he SHOULD try to be friends with this person. "What year are you in? I don't think I've seen you before..." He mused, tilting his head. He searched his memories, brow furrowing. Well, this was odd. Then again, he never paid that much attention to his classmates...or schoolmates, really.

Partisan smiled a little as she talked with him as their conversation was now going to somewhere more productive, at this rate she would be able to learn a whole bunch more about him. She smiled as she considered what she should ask him next, but she decided to answer the questions first, "I am a third year student. I just transferred here recently from being homeschooled" she said as she assumed that was the best way to spin her backstory to someone who didn't know she was a robot. She smiled as she held her hand out for him to shake, with it seeming cold to the touch due to her true identity.

Shiro warily shook her hand, quickly. It was cold, but he didn't really care. "I'm a third year too..." He mused, before shaking his head. He really needed to pay more attention. He let too many things slip by him. "Your hand is cold." He blankly said, continuing to read. He supposed the girl wasn't terrible company. She wasn't annoying as some at the school, which earned her at least one or two points. He blinked, a little. The manga he was reading was...odd. He wasn't sure he liked it.

Partisan heard him notice one of her robotic traits, and she didn't really know how to respond yet. Would she admit what she is? No that would be a terrible idea. So instead she decided to play it off as best as she could. She remembered hearing something that humans have, sickness. That could totally work here right? "I have contracted sickness" she said bluntly as she praised herself in her head for such a clever solution. She continued to read her manga as she wondered what he would ask next.

Well, that was probably a lie. She SEEMED fine. He rose his brow steadily higher. So, cold, weird way of speaking, weird name...this would be the part of the anime where the idiot would somehow come to the conclusion she was something other than a robot. After a second, he decided he didn't really care. "Well, you should see the nurse then. That can't be healthy." He finally replied, continuing to flip through his book. Besides, suddenly asking if she was a robot would be weird, and he wasn't exactly eager to put himself in that position.

Partisan looked at him before she shook her head again as she looked down at the grass, "I do not want to go to the nurse. She can't help me." She said as she doubted the nurse knew how to treat a robot. Even then she didn't really need to be treated, that was just an excuse. She just didn't want people to find out what she really was, because she was afraid that she would not be accepted. And from what she already learned, being accepted is the most important thing about being a human.

Shiro stared. Judging, quietly. "And why wouldn't the nurse be able to help you? It's kind of her job...assuming she wishes to keep it. But then again, I wouldn't want a job telling teenagers they have colds all day." He finally decided. Wow. If this girl was a robot (which he somewhat doubted) she was doing a terrible job of hiding it. Come to think of it, he did seem to have more than one odd schoolmate...maybe he should pay more attention...if he could be bothered to take time out of his day to do so.
