Appearance: August is approximately 6' tall (he never got around to checking exactly how tall he is), with a fit but slightly lanky frame. He has light brown eyes that match his light-brown hair. His hair looks messy and tends to spike off randomly no matter how hard he tries to get it to do otherwise. He regularly wears what he considers are 'travelling clothes'; a white undershirt, brown vest and old work pants, often with a brown cloak over the top of them to try and prevent them getting dirty (often to little avail). Seriously, is his favourite colour brown or something...?

Personality: August is optimistic and curious about the world around him, and has a deep love for aimless wandering within him waiting for the opportunity to be unleashed. His dream is to go on an adventure - to travel the world and experience as much as he possibly can in it. He believes that experiences - both good and bad - are unavoidable, and so the best one can do is learn from them and deal with them as they come. This can lead him to seem a little too laid-back from time to time.

August has lead a relatively comfortable yet simple life in the backwater areas of the colonies - but even as long as he's lived this life, he is afraid of growing too comfortable and not allowing himself to be challenged, that he'll just fade away having not meant anything. To that end, he is desperate to escape and prove himself as more than just a 'country bumpkin', to find some way to seek a challenge - he's just not quite sure how, but figures adventuring is a good enough first step.

He always carries a diary with him in which he writes his experiences at the end of each day - he someday hopes to share these experiences with the world at large by getting them made into a book.

—Description: A constant wanderer, August loves the smell and feeling of the fresh breeze and it fills him with zeal. Fighting in an open, outdoor area confers a +5% bonus to Luck.

—Description: From performing regular physical labour, even when tired or under physical stress, August will keep going strong. If under the effects of a debuff, attacks and defense are only reduced by 2/3rds the full power of the debuff.

—Strength Name: Homeward Bound
—Description: As much as one should enjoy losing themselves in a new world, one should always know the way back home. In a dungeon, August is able to remember the exact path he has traversed, and is able to recall those steps to any given point along the way, to the start of the dungeon, without fail (as long as the dungeon isn't changing it's form).

—Description: Sometimes August has a tendency to get a little too excited in the heat of battle - August is +10% more likely to be affected by the Rage ailment.

—Description: August is used to following orders, not coming up with them, and struggles in a position of leadership, or even just simply giving orders to anyone.

The Background

History: August's life had always been a simple one, born to a small but loving family of farmers whom grew food on the very outskirts of the colony of Eirini - his loving mother Julianne and father Christopher, his ~~irritating~~ exuberant little sister Mary, his paternal grandmother Lucy and grandfather Robert, and his maternal grandfather Joseph.

With the exception of old Joseph, his family for the last two or three generations had been farmers on the same plot of land, growing food for the Agricultural Facility. Too far from the heart of Eirini to be effectively supported by the Agricultural Facility, they were forced to rely on limited mana and older technology - while the quality of their crops was typically lower due to this, they were still able to live decently enough for their position, as the limited mana made the grown food more effective for testing with direct mana application as opposed to the typical crops that had been grown with modern mana from the start.

For much of his life, August expected that he would continue this life - and perhaps that would have been the case if it weren't for one person. Old Joseph had been born in Parangelia, a dedicated scientist and teacher whom, for unquenchable love of his wife, had migrated to Eirini with her. Despite never regretting this move, even when his wife had passed away, as Joseph grew old he had found the laid-back nature of Eirini not to his taste, desperately looking for someone that he could teach. He found a willing student in the young August, noting his restless staring at the great city of Eirini in the middle of work, lost in daydreams.

The lessons and the stories that August's grandfather taught him struck in him an restless urge, a need to be more than just a farmer. While the rest of the family kindly chuckled and nudged him back to his work, his grandfather fuelled these dreams, telling him to learn all he could at the great libraries of Eirini and, if luck had him travel there, Parangelia someday. Despite it seeming such a long way away, it fuelled an urge in the young August to one day travel to these places - this in turn fuelled his dreams of travelling even further - what laid beyond those two great colonies? What was possibly above them? What was possibly below them? August desperately wanted to find out.

Though his parents and little sister tried to convince him not to leave, eventually they realised that he'd be miserable if he was forced to stay with them. So while their hearts felt heavy, they wished August well, and the young man set off for the first time towards the colony of Eirini, and perhaps the adventure that he'd craved so long...
