**ALERT!** After a rather eventful evening at Maksim's Party, three teenagers seems to have gone missing. The doors of Vault Olympia have been breached due to a to this day unknown assailant, who sabotaged the doors locking systems, allowing demons to make entry. Thanks to the excellent defensive capabilities of the Vault's Security drones, the Attack was put to an end, and the invading monsters fled to the outside. Right now, the Doors of Vault Olympia are currently open, allowing any survivors of the fall to seek shelter within the Vault's safe halls. What Vault Security officials think of this development remains unclear as the Chief of Police and Security of Olympia refused to leave a comment. This is Rianara, of Olympia news, signing out.

The site is entering a new era as our team of mods works tirelessly on updating old and obsolete information threads and links. Over the Summer, we aim to make many changes to the forum, including writing a comprehensive beginners' guide to help new players accommodate to the combat and other rp systems in place here.

An Officer's Duty Empty
PostSubject: An Officer's Duty   An Officer's Duty EmptyThu May 14, 2015 3:45 pm

Midday, Azores Prison. Just as it seemed the day would be slow for them, two figures stepped out of their boat, bored silly by the ride. What was it with this business that made it so important? Well, in accordance to police duty, any officer's top priority was to aid the people, was it not? For that purpose, he was here today, but perhaps not in the most cheerful of moods.

An Officer's Duty Giphy

"The sun's shining bright today... makes it seem like the incident in Penecia was a long time ago." With a stern face, Crymson mumbled those words out, reviewing his notebook quickly as someone else stepped out of the boat and onto the port. The woman who quickly followed him seemed to be new to this place, as she looked around waving her long green hair as the wind aided her. Her bright brown, almost yellow eyes seemed a bit torn, as she didn't know what to think of the place.

An Officer's Duty Tumblr_mnprf8stpe1rbetd4o1_500

"You still haven't told me what's been going on. I'm glad I was able to catch a plane in such a short time, but I didn't expect to be helping you on a case again." Laura Sakiyama sighed as she told her boyfriend off, bringing a small frown onto his face. She was obviously somewhat irritated, but her interest was piqued. Another supernatural incident? Well, she had been involved too, so maybe her particular wisdom was needed for a while...

"I called you because I wanted to see you and needed your help. Don't lie, you would have been worried sick if I told you all this over the phone. I know you would have come anyway." The black-haired young man exhaled roughly as he slammed his notebook shut, starting to move forward towards the prison entrance. Laura, in the meanwhile, frowned as well. Perhaps he wasn't in the best of moods, but she too was very tired, having to pack her bags so suddenly. It had been a long time since she was away from Japan, so maybe this would be a good breather for her. After all, living alone in an apartment while your lover is away for what seemed to be a month now to visit his sister... well, you could say that it was damn boring.

An Officer's Duty Tumblr_m785kaOi6t1rzd2xgo1_500

"Alright, fine, but you owe me this when we go back home." The green-haired girl leaned on Crymson's shoulder, almost whispering those words to him before pecking his cheek and letting him move forward, following him dutifully as she was eager to help. They'd keep going until the prison entrance, hoping to find someone they could talk to... and particularly, the officer that was responsible for getting Rita and her friends to the hospital.

The two would get off near the entrance, where all other visitors were going. The waves were definitely harsher than the island was known for, which says mountains given the nature of this very island. Maybe it was due to the weather, but it seemed fairly okay as far as anyone was concerned. For the moment their presence didn't attract much attention. They would be able to find their way inside the waiting room, where a receptionist was waiting on the desk, answering questions and writing and recording various messages of nothing important on her computer that pertained to her job. There weren't too many people here today, so perhaps they were rather lucky to not have much to get around to get to them if they needed to see someone.

The duo moved forward to the waiting room, Crymson leading the way as Laura simply kept herself to following and seeing the sights the island had to offer. The weather was definitely strange, though, as the sun seemed to be shining and the ocean was agitated... odd, to both of them, but not worth considering right now. Once they saw a chance to talk to the receptionist, though, Crymson moved forward.

"Excuse me, ma'am, I have a bit of a request to make." In his usual tone, the black-haired young man took out his wallet to prepare for any necessary documents, and simply spoke up if and when the woman responded. "Do you think I might be able to speak with the sheriff? I'm here to discuss the event that went on in Penecia a few days ago. My name is Crymson Arisato, and I'm a detective from the Osaka Police Department back in Japan, if you require me to identify myself." Laura rolled her eyes for a moment, trying not to chuckle at Crymson's poor attempt at sounding very authoritative.  Really, it was just funny to her. She, however, just kept herself close enough to show that they were indeed together on this request.

The receptionist looked to the two, and narrowed her eyes. Such a young-looking man claiming to be a sheriff from a Japanese police force? ” I.D. please.” She said in a tart, humorless voice. She remained silent, eyeing the two of them to see what their business was here.

"Hah, she's just like the receptionist back home. Should have seen that coming." Laura chuckled lightly, leaning back. Crymson, though, did as he was asked, removing his ID from his wallet and handing both to the woman, the wallet turned to reveal an official badge addressed by the Osaka Police Department that confirmed his status. His ID too, would show that it was filled out regularly, and would appear just as any other, stating his age as 24 years old, which was indeed incredibly young for a detective.

"I hope everything is in order, there should be anything you need to confirm my identity there. If it's necessary, I can call for confirmation from the Head Detective." The black-haired young man put on a casual smile, being as nonchalant as ever, though hiding his worry for now. They still needed to talk to the sheriff regardless. Laura, though, just kept behind him, taking out her own purse as well, expecting to have to go through the same process. Sure, she wasn't a detective, but there were numerous reports about them working together before and she was still his assistant, even if not officially.

The receptionist looked oddly at the ID and back at him before taking it to run a check, and find that he was indeed on the force at such an age. She returned him the ID and began to dial in a few numbers. “Alright. Who do you need to speak to?” Crym had never said who in question, so it would help to know who he needed to talk to.

"...a sheriff? I believe I said so already. Is there more than one sheriff here?" Crymson was indeed confused, but thankfully for him, Laura stepped in, pushing him off to the side elegantly like it was her job. "We need to speak to an officer who was involved in rescuing the civilians at the Penecia incident. We don't have his name, but I believe a description would suffice?" The green-haired woman spoke calmly and smoothly, as if she was already used to this sort of thing... which she was. If they checked Crymson's records, it was registered many times that Laura herself had indeed helped him officially in cases, though she wasn't a detective, really.

"Um, yes, that person as well. Though, I think that it would be best to speak with someone of a higher charge, hence a sheriff. If both could be called, that'd be perfect." As he spoke, the detective rearranged his wallet and took out his notebook, flipping to the page of the description Rita had given him previously of the officer, Qwentyn Harris. Neither of them knew his name, actually, but this was most likely enough... probably. Though, if he could, Crymson would obviously try and include Simon Alba in this discussion as well.

The receptionist’s lips pursed, but she eventually dialed more numbers in, and then pointed them towards a nearby door. “The first door on your right after this will be his office. It’s Qwentyn Harris.” She said, before moving back to her work. Should they go down to where they were, they would find a conference room with empty seats and a coffee machine, allowing them to take a seat, before a young man, who looked more than tired entered the room behind them, closing the door and sipping some coffee. He looked at the man they referred to as the Detective from Osaka and raised his eyes in a bit of surprise.

An Officer's Duty Samura10

“Well, I guess there is someone younger than me on the force. I take it you were the detective they asked about? I don’t have much time to spare, but I can speak to you. I am Officer Qwentyn Harris. I am currently looking into the case that is revolving around Penecia.  You asked about it yes?  You definitely came along way, then again, it probably wasn't such a huge hassle for you,” he said, leaning back on the wall nearby. He seemed casual enough, as casual as a cop on the job can possibly be.

PostSubject: Re: An Officer's Duty   An Officer's Duty EmptySun May 24, 2015 10:43 pm

Crymson smiled casually as the woman let them through. Of course, this is what he expected, but she truly was a lot like the one back in Japan, mostly due to attitude, though. "I see, thank you for your help." The detective bowed slightly as he moved down onto the corridor, Laura mimicking him as she too followed. Needless to say, they would take the instructions given to them and enter the door.

"I'd imagine that time is a bit of a constraint, Sir, though it is a pleasure to meet you regardless." Entering the room, Crymson bowed lightly to Qwentyn as was standard procedure for him, being a formal Japanese officer, and took a seat on the opposite side as the other officer entered as well. Before doing so, though, he'd offer a handshake as was customary.

"I assure you, the only distance I had to cross was from Penecia itself to here. I came to the region a while ago, honestly." Regardless of whether or not Qwentyn took the handshake, Crymson would still speak in a regular tone with a smile, his notebook still being firmly open in his hand, ready for him to draw from it.

"My purpose here is to discuss the events going on in Penecia, yes, but I would also like to know a few more details myself. I've heard of a few people being involved in it, a total count of... five civilians, correct? I know at least four were brought onto the hospital by the police directly." The detective narrowed his eyes as his assistant cleared her throat, deciding to speak up for him now. He had already given a good enough introduction to the topic, after all.

An Officer's Duty Tumblr_ml7qkwVv6d1s6j38no1_500

"If you would please, I'd like to get straight to the point." Laura played with her hair for a moment. "We've heard about this case's supernatural quality, and that is precisely the reason why we're here. There were a total of six persons involved that possessed supernatural powers, correct? One of them wasn't human, if the information source we have is credible. Four were taken to the Penecia Hospital, one escaped, and the remaining one was incarcerated." Though she spoke assuredly, Laura kept her tone low, avoiding any chance of anyone on the outside actually listening in unless they had good hearing. Crymson, though, frowned at her, showing that he intended to keep this hidden until later. Sure, they already had good information, but revealing the reason why they were here so quickly... just seemed wrong.

"Regardless of that, we aren't here to waste anyone's time, after all, so I'd like for us to quickly clear up any inconsistencies in our understanding. You were the one who called for the ambulances, right? You do seem to fit the description." The detective tried for a second to get this back in hand, but it seemed it was a bit tough even for him. He was surely a bit peeved already, and perhaps already was before he even got to the island, but that wasn't really an excuse to let a case go unsolved. After all, his knowledge could help the police prepare for any future attacks, if not more.

Well, they certainly had a knack for getting to the point immediately. How they already knew so much attested to their prowess indeed. “I suppose I should be surprised, but being related to one of the civilians, you’d probably know about this rather quickly, Crymson Arisato.” He said, raising an eyebrow slightly, yet still smiled halfway as though this was not really that surprising, and it wasn’t. “I suppose since you know so much, then yes. I was the one who called in a suspect and sent the civilians involved to the hospital. Why do you ask?” he said, taking a seat finally now that the young man had a catching subject to talk about. Does that mean he was one of them? He was related to the one in particular, so his involvement could be gauged here as well. He didn't expect much information out of him, so for the moment he would stay silent, as all he needed to do was confirm his suspicions.

PostSubject: Re: An Officer's Duty   An Officer's Duty EmptyThu May 28, 2015 8:13 pm

"Hah, indeed. I suppose a name is a dead giveaway, though. Having a victim ready to testify for me is rather useful, though, regardless of relationship." Crymson smiled rather bashfully here, interlocking his fingers on his hands as he set them on the table. "I'll be honest with you, Harris-san, because I've heard that you already have some knowledge of these cases... I don't know how much you actually know, but I'm willing to place my trust on however much it is." The detective's face turned serious as Laura took it from this point. She was already in the know of the information Rita had given her brother... well, almost everything, at least. Regardless, she made a good assistant as she began speaking.

"You should realize by now that this isn't the first case of supernatural happenings. We witnessed something similar to what is happening here, right now, a number of years ago, and ended up being involved. Unfortunately... we failed in keeping a few civilians out of it." Laura bit her lip, remembering the day at school... that was an accident she'd never forgive herself for. It was her fault, after all. "I'll get to the point, though. We believe that the police force needs to be educated on how to handle these cases and how to protect the civilians from it especially." The green-haired woman crossed her arms, still leaning back on her seat. She was measuring Qwentyn's reaction, by the look on her face, assessing the situation so far.

"Hm, yes. I was thinking more on the lines of this being a cooperative effort between the Azores and Osaka Police Departments, honestly, so as to lend assistance in resolving the incident. Trust me, Harris-san... if it's anything like what I've seen, this isn't going to be contained to Penecia." Crym sighed after he spoke, putting a hand against his temple. This was tiring, honestly, speaking about these issues... really, the main point either of the partners was trying to present was that they wanted to help with preparing the police for the supernatural. Nothing more, nothing less. It would be up to them to refuse or accept, however, Crymson would only persist until refused.

PostSubject: Re: An Officer's Duty   An Officer's Duty EmptySun May 31, 2015 5:53 pm

Bringing up the supernatural events definitely didn't make the subject any nicer. Much less when they suggested collaborating. Qwentyn twisted his lips slightly. "I am sorry but I can't comply with that request. This is our jurisdiction, and the Japanese force has nothing to do with it. There can't be a cooperation between us; so you will have to investigate on your own. In fact, I won't need any information regarding these events. It perhaps would be nice, but you don't offer anything to us. So you can do as you will, but you will not be working with us." It may have been a rookie call, or perhaps it was the wiser move. To see a foreign member of the force attempt to work with them in regards to a case and allow them any kind of footing here may be unwise. It definitely would also not look good for the police force. He couldn't afford that yet, not when he still was all in all a rookie here...

Crymson narrowed his eyes again. "Harris-san, do you have complete knowledge of what these beings can do? Are all your members in the know of these events? If the answer to that is yes, I'm satisfied with this meeting, but if not, I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to reconsider." The detective couldn't allow more people to be put in danger because of police ignorance, not when that was exactly what happened before. If the forces weren't taught what to do, they would fail, that was a fact and Qwentyn surely knew it, no?

An Officer's Duty Xf3szbK

"I have nothing more to investigate, but I can guarantee that you do need more information. You aren't a User, are you, Harris-san? Have you seen what these parallel worlds look like? I can't guarantee they are anything like the ones I witnessed, but what I can say, is that they are infested with creatures your forces can't deal with on their own." Guns didn't work, conventional weaponry didn't work. The police force needed to focus on defense rather than attack, evasion tactics to escape should Shadows or something else invade this world.

"If you don't want to cooperate, that's fine, but at least heed what I say to you right now. If you think you can stop these events yourself, you're wrong. Only they can fight them, your role is to protect them so they can do so. Is your duty not to the people, Harris-san?" The dark-haired man got up casually, bearing a frown. "Nevertheless, I've said enough. If you wish to reconsider, call me on my work cellphone. I'm done here." Crymson slid a card onto his desk, reading a Japanese phone number, and promptly left the room. Laura, though, stayed behind

An Officer's Duty HTGtvDZ

"Your decision is your own, don't worry about it. Our goal is to make sure that people stay safe, after all, so as long as you do that, you're doing the right thing." The green-haired girl smiled. She could tell how hurt the other detective was, and knew exactly how he felt, but even then, storming out wasn't the option, she knew that. He still hadn't learned enough, it seemed... even all those years ago, he never learned.

"He's too honest, but that's not the point. He's right, as well, but that isn't it either. Harris-san, you have done a good job so far... so please, try to make sure that it doesn't change. You have a gift, I can tell. You'll make a great chief soon enough." Laura got up, still bearing that smile. "I should go after him. He's smart, but needs to get a reality check... just please, Harris-san, don't disregard what he said." With a swift motion, the assistant bowed to the officer before leaving the room as well after her boyfriend, who now should be well on his way back to the boat... should be being the two key words.

Qwentyn was silent. It was clear that Crymson truly cared, but he did not understand what he was dealing with even with his experience. “Actually, interestingly enough I do know more than you think. However, about these….worlds. They are irrelevant to me currently. We can’t investigate them until everyone here is safe. I know it’s hard, but right now, we cannot be allies. We don’t need you at the moment,” he said. He knew some things now that he came across other select people and events. Perhaps the help would have been nice, but he was not going to drop the face of the department by letting a foreign force act in their jurisdiction. It was just simple police duty, and Crymson seemed to be a bright man; he would probably realize this with time. He nodded to Laura as she spoke, who seemed to be a bit more forgiving of the choice. “I won’t. He’s not wrong. But neither am I.” he said, bidding her a good day when she left. He fixed himself a cup of coffee and took a big gulp, sighing a bit as though it took energy and air to even perform that menial task. A lot of things have happened, and he is worried more will. But he will be prepared. He was lucky enough to be put in charge of this, perhaps it was because no one else would, but that wasn’t going to stop him. Whatever was coming, he would make sure everyone was ready to face it.

An Officer's Duty Tumblr_static_tumblr_lvtg0w8kfd1qfbxulo1_500

Once again, he had failed in convincing them. He became a detective simply for this, to prevent this from happening... and like before, back when he was younger, his knowledge was refused, perhaps even frowned upon. He hated the world for being so close-minded, he hated the pride people possessed to not let a single shred of help be given to them. Was it so wrong for him to want to give his knowledge for the good of everyone?

"The world doesn't change with pretty words alone. You know this better than anyone else, don't you?"

An Officer's Duty Tumblr_lhcrpj7GqD1qaqcoho1_500

The detective glanced at his side, a bit surprised by the sudden appearance of his lover, but also happy, almost. After their journey together, it'd seem that this woman really was one of the few people who understood him completely. Regardless, the two just stared out into the ocean for a moment, Crymson putting a hand over his left eye.

"If I still had it... if I still had him, this would be much easier. Though, it's useless now, complaining about lost power is like crying over spilled milk." Laura swept her green hair behind her and leaned on the detective with a sigh. She knew what his intentions were, and she knew that he only wanted to help... but his methods had always been less than favorable. That's why he failed then, that's why he failed today.

"They'll be fine. You know how the police works, you should have seen that response coming. Still, you're available should more officers be needed, regardless of what Harris says. Be glad you're on vacation, though, the chief would have kicked your ass if he found out you were out solving other people's cases." With a light chuckle, the green-haired woman stepped away, now bearing a much heavier face... honestly, she still wasn't too satisfied. The case wasn't closed yet and there was still a lot to investigate, be it on her own or with the aid of the police, and they already knew that the latter wouldn't come.

An Officer's Duty Tumblr_mlstjkfWmA1s3zn65o1_500

"Crymson, you know that you're needed more with your sister and her allies, not with the police force. Qwentyn knows enough to protect the people, don't worry... besides, you're the one who said that they're the only ones who can fight this. Let's go back to Penecia right now, alright?" Though she was right, Crymson didn't want to admit it. He himself had always worn a sort of hypocritical pride, and both of them knew it. He hated himself for it, but didn't do anything to change it so far... Perhaps it'd be best to go back, but...

An Officer's Duty 9l53gcj

"But what if it isn't enough? What if it ends up like back then? I can't afford to let anyone else get roped up into this... you're right, though. Staying around here moping isn't going to do me any good, will it?"

The detective smiled wryly as he followed his assistant. Perhaps this was the best outcome, perhaps not... but Qwentyn had his number, he knew they were still here, and he knew that he could call for help. The decision was just, it was what Crymson himself would do in his position... best continue the investigation on his own account, at this point. Finding out whatever's possible would be of great benefit to the Users in this event, he knew it. He wouldn't let it end up like back then... he wouldn't.
