This is the time to get stronger! [Sharaku/Rita]

‘’I’m just special.’’ Sharaku would retort simply, when Rita expressed herself on his ability to fight without a Persona. He’d rather not discuss that subject in depth right now, seeing as they were in the middle of serious business. Therefore, he’d keep it low, unless she kept persistently inquiring. This was not a talk while they were busy fighting Shadows. On that note, he would most likely have to explain sooner or later, as long as they kept working together regularly. Oh, the joy of being the odd one out each and every time. He apparently didn’t have much luck in life. But, what can you do, right?

On the other hand, her Persona was rather interesting. He hadn’t seen many female ones so far. Still, it fit her. To admit it, it would be hilarious and quite strange if she had a male one, from what he knew about her so far. Rather contradicting, that it’d be. Ah well, this worked well too. Two girls better than one, perhaps? Or maybe worse, in some cases.

Speaking of things, the fight went quite smoothly. Sure, a little messy here and there, but that was normal. The usual…at first. Then, the weather decided to go crazy. ‘’What is…?’’ He would take a step back, as a sudden blizzard blew past, frosting them over a bit. This was weird. Didn’t this place already have enough ice or snow? He was cold enough without random snowstorms coming up. The stranger fact…it froze the Shadows? He would proceed to stare at the beings for a while, watching them die out. Erm. ‘’….Well, this is new. I wonder if it’s just this place.’’, he’d mutter, squinting at the scene thoughtfully. This was not normal. Did it mean there was someone else around, that finished the Shadows off for them? Great, another mystery. He just hoped they weren’t the next on the list for being turned into ice cubes. That would blow, and not in a good way.

‘’…Let’s keep going..?’’ Who knew whether that was a good idea, but if whatever it was wanted to target them, it could do it as they turned back anyway. At least, this way, they’d be face to face? Or, maybe this place was just special, and has calamities. As weird as that sounded. Neither option sounded pleasant, but did anything related to this? Plainly put, no, so he shouldn’t even be surprised. Ugh, let’s just keep moving for now…and hope for no more frost.

Movement:

Special, eh? Fair enough, Rita couldn’t really argue with that. Though, if you were to think about it, everyone that had powers was technically special. If they were normal people, then they wouldn’t have Personae and whatever Sharaku had, right? Oh well, best saved for later. Rita’s headphones were quite loud anyway so a decent conversation was nearly impossible with them on, though they were just ear buds so it’d be rather simple to remove one in a pinch. Thank God for spare pairs, or else Rita’d have no way of listening to music at all, what with how easily she tended to snap the cord while training with them. You’d be surprised how easy they can get tangled on a Katana’s blade.

“Easy enough… that was rather quick.” After the whole fight, Rita’d take one of her headphones and start twirling it in the air, eyeing the dissolving Shadows. In this whole process, she’d of course be shivering thanks to the frost on her, while her eyes would be unaffected thanks to her rather quick reflexes. Of course, they weren’t the best, but enough to close your eyes when something came at them, that’s for sure. What Rita didn’t expect was the wetting of her clothing through the noticeable frost, but that was rather normal. She didn’t like having her clothing be soiled like that but what’re you gonna do? There was no way she could see the sudden blizzard in her face coming if it was so sudden. In any case, easily fixed, Rita just twirled her sword and finished a flourish by holding it in front of her and concentrating. Soon enough the Aestus Estus would erupt into flames around Rita’s hand and throughout the sword, and ultimately transform into a rather small ember the size of her fist, although still hot as can be. The fire from her transformed Soulbound Weapon would most likely be enough to warm them up, so she got a bit closer to Sharaku, holding the ember in front of them both. Its feeling would be like a normal household heater set on high, extremely hot to the touch, but a nice warm sensation that’d keep them comfortable.

“Flames are interesting, y’know? Hold them wrong and they’re the most destructive thing around, but when untouched, they’re like puppies, kind and warm, unable to hurt a fly.” That was her philosophy on this, though, and it wasn’t a necessity right now. Rita just followed as close to Sharaku as she could, though she’d most likely fall behind a bit, marveling at the beauty of this place and occasionally glancing at the frozen tar. What could have so much power to do that so easily? Sure, they were already weak from before, but the apparent attack was chillingly cold, enough to dump frost on both her and Sharaku. What was it and why did it sound so human?

When they showed up to the next group of enemies, which would turn out to all look at them in unison, the wind seemed to pick up in speed around them. Snow seemed to part around the Shadows as they gathered towards the duo. The snow flurries circled the two sides, clouding their vision from the outside before flying upward above them.

Shadow Horde:

Sharaku would blink when Rita went and turned her sword into fire. Neat? He wasn't frozen yet, but thought appreciated. As long as she didn't burn him with it. ''I find them interesting as long as they aren't too close to me.'' Fire could be pretty, but as they say, play with it and you'll burn. Warmth was good, but open fire could be risky.

...On a more important note, what was with this blowing wind and snow? It was getting somewhat annoying. Well, at least it wasn't really hurting them yet. Still, he'd rather go without it. As if Shadows weren't already enough of a bother. ''The weather is being annoying.'', he'd mutter, turning to face the new obstacles. Maybe he could blow them away with the wind? That sounded rather pleasant at the moment.

“Don’t worry, if I wanted to burn you, I’d have done so before we even started fighting.” Rita laughed a bit, amused at Sharaku’s comment. Was worry a need, even? Sure, his words didn’t necessarily imply that he was afraid that Rita would burn him, but it still begged her to speak herself. Honestly, though, was he concerned about the flames being too close to him? How rude, Rita was very competent at controlling her own element! It was simply unnecessary to even speak of it, much less express concern for it.

“Tch…” Another horde? Were these enemies common or something? Rita was not amused in the slightest at this, more annoyed than anything. These things were fast and dangerous, she didn’t want to give them any leeway to even try to damage them. Thankfully, her moves were just as fast and, right now, a Persona wasn’t needed. The enemy didn’t look as strong as it did quick, so that would be more assurance than what was needed. Rita just took hold of her flaming weapon and stretched her right arm, the one holding it, to the side with a sharp movement. With that, the small ember extended into a very sharp-looking long shape, akin to what it looked like before igniting.

“These things should get a taste of their own juice. Let’s hope they don’t like fire.” On that note, Rita narrowed her eyes and dashed towards the Shadows with sword brandished. Once she was near enough, she’d deliver two quick fiery slashes to the entirety of the horde at once, then immediately jump back and retreat, walking backwards until she was next to Sharaku again.

“You’re not the only one who can fight without a Persona… but I doubt it’s the same. Come on, I’m calling that group ‘Slaughterhouse’ because they’re about to become dead meat.” Letting a smirk shine through, Rita took the opportunity to get her other ear bud back into her ear, resuming the full musical sensation. She was quite adept at fighting with her weapon, that was for sure, so this’d be simple. Just attacking them normally required no mental fatigue from summoning her Persona, so this was easily the best option. Besides, it just looked cool to fight with a weapon made of pure fire. Rita liked it, at least. She had to admit, though, Sharaku wasn’t a bad fighter himself, he did seem to hold his own… Rita just hoped that it’d keep going like that. After all, the weather itself seemed to turn against them…

Horde Destroyed - You May Continue Forward

When the Horde was destroyed, the wind flew past them again, with a flurry that was slower than it was before, making a howl on the breeze. An intelligible voice could be heard on the winds, but it was too low to be heard. The flurry lasted a little shorter than before before fading away towards the direction they came from.

Shuffle Time:

Hm? ‘’I wasn’t talking about you specifically. Just flames in general. If I didn’t trust you, I’d have ran away the moment you tried getting close to me with them. That said, I am not really worried.’’, he’d respond flippantly. Sharaku had no idea why she assumed he was talking with her in mind, but sure, whatever floated her boat. Good to know that she took it personally, however. Maybe he should make a note to not talk low of fire around her, seeing as it was apparently a touchy subject.

He would watch her fiery sword tricks with a bit of an amused interest. She sure knew how to be flashy in a fight. ‘’That it isn’t. Seeing as I don’t have a Persona at all, unlike you.’’, he would snort a little. ‘’I’ll call them dead meat after they’re actually dead.’’ It sounded more appropriate, if he was actually to give a group of Shadows a nickname. Which was, admittedly not his style. He could go along with Rita, however. Usually, he didn’t waste his breath on something that was about to eat dirt soon. That said, the fight itself went quite smoothly. They didn’t even get to attempt hitting them back. It would be pleasant if every battle could end like this. He could get used to that.

…and the weather was still acting up. Maybe a bit less wildly, but it was still in motion. This time, he was sure he heard some kind of voice along with the wind too. So, was this actually caused by a person..? He would look around with a thoughtful expression. ‘’Think there’s actually someone here aside from us?’’, he’d ask the female, guessing that she had heard as well. Either way, in case they really had some sort of mysterious company nearby, he hoped it wasn’t anyone hostile. The two of them were doing well, but he wasn’t certain if that would be enough against some supernatural person, or whatever this unknown entity was. It didn’t seem to be a Shadow. That would be weird.

‘’Perhaps we should backtrack a bit? Wouldn’t want to walk too far and get lost. That would not be fun. We could still go in another direction from the rift we came from anyway.’’, he’d suggest after a few moments of thought. It would be better to stay close to a possible escape in case something powerful was indeed around. There were other ways of getting out, sure, but that way, it would at least not cost them anything. Hopefully, she wouldn’t have objected, but it did seem like the safer bet at the moment. Well, she could have still went further ahead on her own, in case she felt like it.

Movement:

“Still had to be said regardless. I’d much rather clear things up straight away so neither gets the wrong idea. I guess that didn’t work out too well, huh?” Rita’d rub the back of her head a bit, kinda nervous about what just happened. She wasn’t gonna berate Sharaku on it or anything, and she didn’t take it to heart too, too much. Honestly, Rita was pretty… chill… on that subject. Of course, she shook the bad pun of her head… quite literally, with an actual shake. Well, whatever the case.

“Hm, yeah, I can kinda see that. Haha. For not being a User, you sure fight like a pro, though. I think I haven’t seen an attack hit that hard… well, ever. That’s impressive to me.” Of course, a Magarudyne was quite a potent skill, was it not? Rita hadn’t yet the chance to fiddle with that sort of power… or rather, she hadn’t been a User for long enough, probably. “Dead meat fits them so well already, though! They might as well be dead, honestly. After all, they’re facing us, I don’t think they stand much of a chance.” Fair enough, Dead Meat was a kind of depreciative name so naming them that would be disrespectful… though, why did it matter when, soon after, they’d be dead anyway? Yeesh, the whole horde went down like a bunch of sissies, unable to even retaliate… how weak.

“Possibly… I’d take a gander at saying that a voice isn’t emitted from no one. Perhaps we should search a bit ahead… hmmm…” It was gonna be a while until she could come back, Rita was sure, so perhaps running ahead right now would be easier…? Well, no chance, with Sharaku saying that they should back off. That little comment there earned him a sigh and a shrug, the silvernette walking back at a brisk slow pace so as to not tire herself out more. Once it was clear that no Shadows were about to jump out at her, though, she’d take her Evoker and shoot her head once again to summon Nero onto the field. Of course, Rita didn’t want to use a skill outside of battle just yet, but having her Persona out in the field to help her was a bit better than just walking alone since Sharaku seemed to be faster…

“My Praetor, are you not tired yet? Be sure that you watch your health, alright?” The blonde emperor put on a casual smile as she talked to Rita. It truly was quite a wonder how Personae could just talk to their Users like this, wasn't it? “I’m fine, Nero, don’t worry. If I must, I’ll just ask you to use your brand new abilities to heal me.” With a sly wink, Rita had earned a tiny blush from her Persona, who just proceeded on with a carefree expression otherwise. They’d grown in power lately, and Nero was quite a bit more dangerous than before… hell, Rita’d gander that she could take Sharaku on right now, if not for them being friends.

Movement:

Ah. ''Actually, I prefer that kind of approach to the opposite, to say the truth. I don't have good experience with people that take the wrong idea without making sure first. I'd say it went well enough.'' Sharaku'd give her a fleeting smile. He really didn't mind. At least, she told him what she had on her mind right away, unlike some people. It was more efficient to work that way, in his opinion.

''I suppose I'm just used to this already. Been a while since the whole mess started. I figure you'll get better with time as well. I didn't consider myself that much of a fighter before this whole situation.'' To say the truth, she was quite good as well, seeing as she was still fairly new to this. As long as he had the flow of time right in his head, but he wasn't quite sure anymore at times. Too much happening for him to keep it in a straight line all the time without a single slip. He wasn't a walking record yet. ''Fair point. I just prefer to save namecalling for later.'', he would chuckle faintly. Yes, the Shadows most likely didn't have a chance, but he just felt weird to give them a nickname like that one in the middle of a fight. ''Hey, I'd object if it were me...'' ''And who's talking about you...?'' Ugh, this was also a good reason not to do it with Shadows specifically.

He would slow down a bit, looking at Rita from the corner of his vision. ''Not that the idea sounds wrong, but I'd rather be sure before possibly taking on a big unknown. We can always come back and investigate a little later. We have no idea who's around there, and it could get us in trouble right now. After all, we didn't come here with that in mind.'' Sure, he was confident enough, but he's seen what risks can do. Besides, this place wasn't going to run away. They could always come back and search.

Movement:

“Oh? Then I guess we’re on the same page, then. Acting impulsively will only hurt you in the long run, I’m sure. I just hope that you can hold me back if I happen to end up doing that.” Boosting along her slyness, Rita continued on, waiting to see what Sharaku would do. Really, how come it was actually fun talking to him? He seemed flippant at times but he really was funny when he wanted to be… or did he want to be? Who knows, Rita sure doesn’t, but that’s not gonna stop her from thinking it. After all, if she didn’t have fun, would she even hang out with him? Most likely not.

“Been a long time…? Wait, what do you mean? Like, I know I’m not the first to awaken, but how long has this business been going on for? Was I in Azores already when it started?” That little comment put Rita slightly on edge, actually. For just how long had Sharaku been awake for? And, for that matter, what about other people? Naomi-nee was a User too, how strong was she? What about the others? So many questions just popped into Rita’s mind right now… what was going on in the background?

“Well, alright. Namecalling is what I call intimidating, really, but saving it for later might save you some embarrassment just in case things don’t go well. At least karma was kind on that battle.” Carrying on through the hall, Rita looked over at Nero for a bit, seeing that the blonde Persona was still by her side and ready to spring into action should something come out. But… wait, what? The voice that sounded out afterwards was strange to Rita, not belonging to neither of the three, if she was correct… what?

“Wait, who was that? Sharaku, who are you talking to?” Rita’d tilt her head in confusion, wondering just what was happening right now… who was the owner of that voice? It didn’t sound like the mysterious one that they heard in the wind… and furthermore, Sharaku replied to it…

“My Praetor… careful.” Nero steeled her stance for a moment, her eyes narrowing, though Rita would be a bit more laid back, albeit slightly on edge. “That won’t be necessary, Nero… I trust Sharaku, so I don’t think whoever he was talking to is an enemy either… still, make sure that no Shadows interrupt us.” On that note, Nero closed her eyes, frowning. Why did Rita have to be so carefree? Sure, she still had her strength and could probably get out of a fight if one were to break out… but was it so necessary to worry her Persona like that? The silvernette could be intriguing, that was for sure… perhaps her Persona would have to show that to her later.

Movement:

Hold her back? That was sure an interesting job to have. Did she mean she would act like that at times? Hm. ''With pleasure, milady.'' Sharaku would laugh shortly. Unless she'd try to attack if he had, he had no problem. Besides, he wasn't going to allow too much trouble as long as he was around. Except in cases he was doing something stupid. Unfortunately, there was no solution to that.

''Well...'', he would pause to think for a few moments when Rita questioned the time period. Maybe he should start writing a diary on what happened when. ''I believe it started around the end of summer. August, maybe? I think it was that. Kind of hard to keep track with all that's happening. I have no idea whether you were here at that time or not. It has been approximately 5 months by now.'', he would answer calmly. He had no idea how long she thought it had been, but she shouldn't be too surprised. Afterall with all that was at stake by now, it's kind of obvious it has been at least a while.

He would shake his head slightly at her name explanation. ''I don't mind the embarrasement. But, I think it's a waste of breath to make up a nickname in the middle of a battle. It won't help me aim better or anything.'' What good did it to, aside from bringing a little bit of amusement? That, he could just as well have when he was sure nothing was going to jump him anymore. When she called him out on the mini conversation he was having, he would look towards her with a weak frown. ''It's similar to how you can talk to your Persona. It just isn't a Persona in my case.'', he would explain after a short moment of contemplation. He wasn't sure whether that would be enough for her, but he didn't really want to go too deep into this right here and now. ''I'm awesome, of course.'' ''I shall not comment on that.'' However, unlike her, he usually did not enjoy these kind of talks. The two of them rarely agreed on anything. Petty arguments were an annoyance.
