"Welcome to the Velvet Room..."

A warm ray washes over your body that seems inviting. When you open your eyes, you can only see a long nosed man, sitting across from you. By his side was various Attendants, three dressed as plane Attendants, and one dressed as an elevator attendant. Their piercing golden eyes would stare towards you, however; even if you wished to move you could not.

"Please do not worry. You are not in danger here. Infact, we have come to you, because you are indeed a special case. A calamity will soon fall upon your world, and though you will not suffer through this alone, you will need to use all your strength to succeed in the coming ordeal."

The strange man closed his eyes and gave a wide smile. His fingers folded together as a bright light would shine above him, and a small blue butterfly hovered down. It fluttered above Tomoe before vanishing into what appeared to be azure pearls that shattered down upon her. The long nosed man seem quite surprised by this, as his eyes would open and soon spread wide.

"I see, you are a special guest indeed. My name is Igor, I am a proprietor of this Velvet Room. It is my goal to assist you in your journey. But before this, I must ask you to sign a document..."

A paper appeared with a pen floating beside it. Tomoe would now be able to move her hand and sign this document. There was only a few words written on it. More specifically: "I chooseth this fate of my own free will." It was a contract.

"This contract simply means whatever happens, you will take full responsibility. This binds you to your actions, and any consequences that may follow. But I believe by the end of your journey, you will find your own 'Answer to Life's Greatest Question"."

What in the world was all of this? One minute Tomoe was….somewhere. Now she was awake in a first class room on a plane, with a bunch of weird people with a strange man. She would have spoken, but for some reason, she either could not, or ended up choosing not to. She felt…calm actually despite the possible kidnapping. When the contract appeared in front of her, she did not know what to think. Signing a contract without reading it first, but even then, she somehow knew what it meant. All of what she did was now going to be her responsibility. Was this a dream? Would she be able to sign this without risk? Desite not knowing the answer, Tomoe slowly reached towards the pen and took it with hesitation. She wondered what this would mean, dream or not how it would turn. But the man mentioned a calamity that was going to happen in her world. Was this real?

She reached towards the heavy piece of paper, and slowly signed her name, pausing between her first name before writing the last.

“Tomoe Kyokudou…”

Once the contract was signed, it would vanish along with the pen. Igor gave a wide smile and a simple nod. "Excellent. Your power is the same, yet different from others. You have in you, the potential to summon a vast number of Personas, all born within your soul from the bonds you've crafted with your friends. Through these bonds, or in other terms Social Links, you will grow ever stronger. But every power has its drawbacks. Please be sure to remember this." The man took a pause before continuing once more. "Through every day hardship, people use these different masks to cope. A Persona is your other self, and the various masks you wear, given form. Another side of yourself that you may summon forth to protect yourself, and those you care about. In the coming day, you will be put against terrible odds. However, with your potential and the strength of bonds, I believe you will be able to defeat the undefeated." A blank card would appear before Tomoe. There would be nothing on the face of the card, instead it was simply blank.

"Ah yes, this is your first Persona. The one closest to your heart. It will protect you." The moment he said this, the card would begin to glow, and the figure of the Temperance would appear on the face of the card. "Now, time marches on in your world. When you awake, you may notice many things will begin to change around you. I believe you will find the best outcome in the coming trial. You may continue to visit us here, in the Velvet Room. However, you will be our only guest. When you awaken, you will find a blue key on your person. You will know when it is time to use it. For now, farewell."

And with that, Tomoe would drift away back in the sound sleep she was once having...
