**ALERT!** After a rather eventful evening at Maksim's Party, three teenagers seems to have gone missing. The doors of Vault Olympia have been breached due to a to this day unknown assailant, who sabotaged the doors locking systems, allowing demons to make entry. Thanks to the excellent defensive capabilities of the Vault's Security drones, the Attack was put to an end, and the invading monsters fled to the outside. Right now, the Doors of Vault Olympia are currently open, allowing any survivors of the fall to seek shelter within the Vault's safe halls. What Vault Security officials think of this development remains unclear as the Chief of Police and Security of Olympia refused to leave a comment. This is Rianara, of Olympia news, signing out.

The site is entering a new era as our team of mods works tirelessly on updating old and obsolete information threads and links. Over the Summer, we aim to make many changes to the forum, including writing a comprehensive beginners' guide to help new players accommodate to the combat and other rp systems in place here.

Chiyo
thing ▲ thing ▲ thing ▲ thing
Chiyo would always insist that she wasn’t stupid and, to an extent, that was true; she made it into Kizuna, after all, although that was after several all-night tutoring sessions from a frankly amazing teacher, which most likely made all the difference between her dropping out and continuing her education. No, when asked, Chiyo would always claim that she just didn’t like school work, therefor didn’t bother devoting her time to it. Usually, this excuse would work and anyone who questioned her would nod and scurry off back to wherever the Hell they came from, leaving Chiyo with a sense of smug self-satisfaction that she’d successfully scared off another potential bully.

Too bad teachers seemed to be immune to a scowl and vague explanation, especially the 2-A teacher Mr. Surikawa, who Chiyo had the displeasure of having as her homeroom leader for the rest of the year. Unlike most of her past teachers, Surikawa wasn’t content with just leaving the girl to do as she wished, and had ordered her up to the library to read up on... what was it called? Linear equations? Beh, it was something ridiculous that nobody (aside from her fellow classmates, it appeared...) could do.

So, since her Aunt wouldn’t be too happy to hear about her disrespecting a teacher, Chiyo trudged up to the library, a frown etched on her face and her brows furrowed into a glare. Stupid Surikawa and his stupid desire to teach. With a huff, Chiyo entered the large room, making a b-line towards the chairs, tossing herself in one before bothering to glance around. The library was nice enough, she guessed; bookshelves covering every wall and elegant wooden desks that were probably made of something expensive and extravagant.

She adjusted herself in the surprisingly uncomfortable chair, pulling at her skirt in hopes it would cover just a little more of her legs to shield them from discomfort, only to dislodge her carefully tucked in shirt. Scowling, Chiyo reached under her sweater to fiddle with her outfit, glaring at any unfortunate student who glanced up at her to question what she was doing. The cuts lining her fingertips made it difficult to properly grip the end of her shirt - her Aunt insisted on bandaging every little scape, which made things much more difficult than necessary for Chiyo - and she quickly gave up in trying to appear picture perfect for any teachers or student council members. She wasn’t there for them, anyway. She was there so she could get her stupid teacher off her back for once.

“Hey,” she called out to a student sitting a few chairs away from her, his nose buried in a book. “Where are the books about equations with lines?” The boy stared hopelessly at her, awkwardly shrugging his shoulders.

It was going to be a long day.

PostSubject: Re: Equations with Lines (or Something Like That) [open]   Equations with Lines (or Something Like That) [open] EmptyMon Feb 18, 2013 11:18 am

Genji was having an okay day in school at best. He was not in the mood to scold other students, there were too many troublemakers today, it seems. He sighed at the number of students who were running in the hallways, being too loud, bullying others, the list went on and on. He didn't like scolding the others as much, he didn't like to feel like the bad guy, he didn't really enjoy that part of being in the Disciplinary Committee. What he really liked about being in the Disciplinary Committee was helping people, but that didn't seem to happen as much today.

He sat in his literature class, bored, but keeping his concentration. Even when bred, he always true to pay attention to the lesson, it would pay off someday to do so. The teacher began the lecture with a boring lesson about an author that he didn't care about so much as the others he read in this class. The teacher then surprised them all with a trip to the library.

Genji didn't mind being in the library; it was a calming place and it was always good to get out of the daily routine of sitting in his classroom all day, so he was actually a little excited about it.

As his class walked through the hallways of Kizuna Academy, Genji wondered whether anything interesting would happen once the class actually got to the library. Genji wasn't totally optimistic about it, but he never knew what could happen. It was always a mystery.

He entered the library with the rest of his class. His assignment, if he chose to accept it, was to get a book from the author, check it out, read it, then analyze it. It wasn't something that the teacher didn't assign before, so Genji didn't mind too much. The teacher pointed him out to the section and Genji found a book that looked interesting. He sat down next to a girl with many bandages on her body.

She seemed to be looking for something, that she wanted to find a book, but didn't ask the right person to find it. Maybe she didn't know how to ask someone, being super shy. Genji overheard her asking around for a book on linear equations, he turned to her and said with a smile,

"Hey, if you are looking for a book, why don't you try asking a librarian? They are always happy to help you, my name's Kano Genji, by the way, what's yours?"

Genji couldn't help but to try and help this girl who had many bandages on her body. He wanted to help someone out today, so maybe this was a better start to his day full of chasing down delinquents and stopping bullies in the hallways.

Chiyo
thing ▲ thing ▲ thing ▲ thing
The green haired girl hesitantly turned to stare at the boy who addressed her. Lib-rare-ee-n? Oh. That was the old lady standing by the front counter, right? The one with the scrunched up nose and eyes too small for her face. Scoffing, she shrugged, shifting her gaze back to everywhere but the person speaking to her. Why was he even bothering addressing her, anyway? Nobody came up to someone and just started talking without some kind of motive - so, the question was, what did this guy want? Everyone knew Chiyo wasn’t a rich girl, Hell, she lived in the country for most of her life and her Aunt lived comfortably, yes, but she wasn’t rolling in cash, so speaking to her in an attempt to get money wasn’t likely. She also wasn’t popular, so there was no chance of him leeching off any kind of success she’d managed to scrape up.

Confused and a little annoyed, Chiyo’s scowl deepened; the only thing worse than being told she was dumb was actually feeling dumb. “Didn’t ask for your name,” she grumbled, gaze fixed on the strange boy sitting beside her. He didn’t look like an ass, then again, not many books could be judged by their covers, but even Chiyo, with all her paranoia, had to admit he had a somewhat trustworthy face.

“...Watanabe.” Her tone was short and sharp, leaving no room for comment or debate and lacking any kind of warmth or friendliness; it was fact and nothing more. Still, it was enough to have Chiyo mutter under her breath and shrug lower into her chair, her arms tightening over her chest. Socialization was never her strong point, and ever since coming out of her self-imposed exile, it proved to only become more and more difficult, which made it all the harder for her to relate to any of her fellow students.

Suddenly reminded of her Aunt’s not-so gentle encouragement to go and talk to the people around her - it was more of a threat than anything, a ‘go make friends or get out’ situation - Chiyo’s head snapped back to the boy. “I don’t like that woman,” she begun, cocking her head towards the librarian, “She looks like a baddie out of a shoujo manga.” And if life followed the rules of shoujo manga, approaching the villainess would end up with Chiyo covered in even more bruises and a newfound understanding and appreciating for love and friendship.

God forbid that ever happened.

“I don’t wanna deal with her, so tell me where the books about line math are.”

PostSubject: Re: Equations with Lines (or Something Like That) [open]   Equations with Lines (or Something Like That) [open] EmptyMon Feb 18, 2013 4:41 pm

Genji watched as the girl thought about asking the librarian or not. She seemed to distrust him, or some reason. Either that, or she was one if those people that simply didn't like people, or had a nasty attitude. He didn't know. He wasn't in the best mood, but she wasn't helping him much.

The fact that he heard her mumble that she didn't ask his name hurt a little, but he was happy when she told him her name. It was Watanabe, he figured that's all that he was going to get out of her. He was surprised that she even gave out her name like that, he was almost surprised that she didn't flat out ignore him.

She surprised him again by her comments on the librarian. He made a double take to the poor librarian, who actually did look like a shoujo manga villain. He wanted to laugh, but then she asked him if he knew where the books were, she wasn't going to ask her.

Genji's mood worsened a little when she told him that. He kept his cool, though. He was usually above the drama, he could be simply insulted by someone and let it slide. This was harder, though. Not only did she give him an attitude, but she just simply refused his help. He sighed angrily, he didn't know either, but he wanted to help her out, so he decided to do himself. He got up and told her,

"Fine, I'll go up then, I don't know either, I just wanted to help you out, but if you don't want to go up, I will." Genji got up and started walking towards the evil shoujo villain librarian and prepared to ask her about equations with lines, or something like that.

As he got to the librarian, she looked up to him and asked, "What can I help you with?" He answered, "Can you tell me where the math section is?" He was pointed to the math section by the villainess and he thanked her. He then headed back to Watanabe.

As he got to her, he quietly told her, "Watanabe-san, I figured out where the math section was for you, I'll lead to to it, if you don't mind." He looked at the girl, hopefully not getting anymore resistance from her, now that he did almost all of the work for her.

Chiyo watched the weird boy head over to the library counter, nose scrunching and brow furrowing as she stared. Why was he doing this for her? People like him didn’t make any sense and that... well, she couldn’t tell if it was a pain in the ass or kind of refreshing. She was still considering whether or not she should be grateful when he returned with the information about the books, catching her off guard and making her jump in her seat, instinctively raising her arms to cover her face. Back in middle school, whenever someone snuck up on her, a flurry of punches or a rotting bento soon followed, and there was no chance she was going to let that happen, again.

Chiyo quickly noticed what was actually happening and went bright red, immediately lowering her arms to cross them back over her chest. How embarrassing, she must have looked like some kind of trembling pansy.

“...Kano, right?” She mumbled, awkwardly clearing her throat as she pushed herself out of her chair. “Why’d you do that?” There was probably a much nicer way to phrase that, but Chiyo wasn’t exactly sure what that was. She got excellent scores in otome games - the bishies always said she had a magical way with words - but that was pre-written; there were visible choices that she could scroll though and select, and when she had no idea what to say, there was always a walkthrough somewhere on the internet for her to use. But, in real life, there was nothing. Just her and her inability to speak without offending someone and pushing them away, which, when she considered it, was probably for the best.

“Uh, I mean, uh...” Chiyo trailed off, face still red and fingers twitching nervously. “Lead the way.”

PostSubject: Re: Equations with Lines (or Something Like That) [open]   Equations with Lines (or Something Like That) [open] EmptyTue Feb 19, 2013 11:23 am

Genji almost jumped himself as he accidentally scared Watanabe. He felt bad about scaring her, which he didn't like doing often. He hated scaring people, but it sometimes happens, unfortunately.

He was about to apologize, but she then asked him about his reasons for helping her. To say the least, Genji was a little offended over it, but when she started stuttering and trying to fix what she said, he wasn't as offended. He totally forgot about it when she said that she wanted him to lead the way. He was finally helping someone, so he felt better.

"Okay, let's go!" He turned around and began to walk in the direction of the math section. He made sure that Watanabe was following him. When he got the okay, he traversed the library, following the villainess' instructions to get there.

When they got to the math section, Genji looked around. He had to find equations with lines, so he looked up and down the shelves, hoping to find a book like that. He almost gave up when he found a book about linear equations... Was that what she was looking for? Genji started to thinking back to his past years. The term came into his memory. He was almost positive that this may have been the book that she was looking for.

He took the book out of the shelf and stared at it. He say the title again, then flipped through some of the pages, getting an idea of whether it was the right book or not. After a while, he figured it was the right book.

He turned to Watanabe, who had hopefully followed him this whole time and asked, "Is this a book that you were looking for? It says something about linear equations, so it might be what you were looking for."

Chiyo

His enthusiasm was... well, weird. Not weird enough to make Chiyo uncomfortable - she’d spent two years with only the company of 4chan, so was more than well versed with the strange and discomforting - but enough to put her even more on edge that usual. People who smiled that much were usually hiding something; whether it was something big or not was irrelevent, secrets were connected to lies and lies lead to betrayal. She internally pomised herself to keep an eye out for this smiling, helpful boy, more for her own safety than any kind of concern about him being taken advantage of by less savory students.

She stared at him as he sorted through the math section of the library, still hesitant about being overly-friendly with him, but not seeing any reason to push him away too quickly, just yet. After all, he did face the manga villainess for her and didn’t complain once... And he was scanning the shelves for her, even though she could easily do it herself. With a slightly confused scowl, Chiyo muttered to herself about ‘annoying boys’ and her ‘stupid Aunt’ - why did everyone have to be so damn confusing?

Snapped out of her thoughts by Genji’s words, Chiyo glanced at the front cover of the book, immediately shaking her head. “I said math with lines, not lin-linear...? Yeah, linear stuff.” Her scowl morphed into a pout and she shook her head at the boy trying to help her, “You didn’t listen.” Despite her casual body language, her tone sounded legitimately disappointed, almost hurt, at Genji apparently ignoring her words.

PostSubject: Re: Equations with Lines (or Something Like That) [open]   Equations with Lines (or Something Like That) [open] EmptyWed Feb 20, 2013 11:15 am

"Wait, you literally meant math with lines? I thought that you were talking about linear equations, at least, that's what it sounded like you were talking about. What teacher sent you to get a book like that? That's pretty sadistic. I don't think I've ever seen a book with lines on it. I'll continue looking, though." Genji actually felt terrible because he got the wrong book. Watanabe probably thought that he was an idiot, or maybe he ignored her. He didn't want to give up, though. He would go on and try to find the book.

He looked at the math section again, deep in thought. He had no idea how to approach the task at hand. What did she mean by a math book with lines, did she mean a book with lines on it? He wasn't certain, but he wanted to help her out, so he didn't want to give up. He liked being helpful, it was the one thing he didn't want to mess up. If he couldn't fix his life, he could help others, at least.

He looked through the sections again, then an idea popped in his head. He took out each book, one by one, then looked if there were lines on it. He also took at more with linear equations, because they usually had lines on them, too. He would take a book out and place them into piles. He had a stack of about ten books going before he finished the section. Apparently this was something that wasn't touched often, that not many people looked for. Maybe they didn't want to study it, it didn't matter.

Genji was finished, with a stack of around ten books, he showed each book to Watanabe, hoping that he got it right this time, hopefully he did, he didn't want to fail at helping her, it would just make him guilty for the rest of the day. He then said to her,

"So were these what you were looking for? I hope they are, I don't want to get it wrong again. I don't want to waste your time."

Chiyo
thing ▲ thing ▲ thing ▲ thing
Chiyo’s nose scrunched when he insisted on trying again. What was the point? When you got something wrong, you were supposed to slink off to your bedroom and cry for a while, not go back out and put yourself in a position to look like an idiot. Unfortunately, before Chiyo could inform Genji of the proper way to react to his failure, he had already stuck his head back in the bookshelf, frantically gathering texts for her. To say she wsa uncomfortable would be an understatement; she was close to running out the door out of sheer terror. Why was someone being so nice to her? Wasn’t she just some idiot punk not worth wasting time on?!

When the boy turned his attention back to her and begun showing each book in hopes of helping her find the right one, she glared to the side and snatched the books out of his arms, shuffling back to the desk, seemingly finished with him, judging by her dismissive action.

“Don’t carry so much stuff,” she scolded, still refusing to turn and face her savior. “You’ll hurt your back.” She nodded, as if confirming her own statement, and once more perched herself in a chair, brow furrowed as she glanced at each of the ten books, trying to figure out what she was supposed to be learning. It was when she saw the last text, one with ‘X=Y+1’ displayed across the front that she shoved her pointer finger at it, eyes wide.

“This!” She called, the students around her jumping at her sudden declaration. “This one! The book on...” Her voice went dead and her shoulders slumped. ‘Linear Equations’ it read. O-oh. So that’s what those were. Chiyo cleared her throat, cheeks going pink when it clicked with her that ‘math with lines’ was supposed to be ‘linear equations’; the very first book Genji had shown her.

“Sorry,” she mumbled, flipping the book open andstaring blankly at the complicated text. X, Y; what were they doing with a bunch of numbers?! “I’m kind of dumb, apparently, so, uh, don’t get mad.”

Genji heard Chiyo start to scold him over carrying so many books around, but he ignored her, not in a mean spirited way, but in a way that says: I'm determined, nothing is going to stop me. He just grabbed book after book and got them. Chiyo looked at the ten books that he took out and she found the book that she was looking for. It had a bunch of x's and y's on the cover. He was overjoyed that she found the book that she was looking for. Genji always like helping out people, maybe it's because of his struggles to help himself, but he wasn't totally sure. She then apologized to him for being dumb. Genji frowned at this obvious self consciousness and told her,

"You want to know something? I'm dumb too. I don't even know how to use this library. Every time I have to come in here, I'm usually directed by someone or have to ask around for help. But there's no shame in it. You can only be dumb for so long before you get smart at something. Besides, being smart isn't always the matter, if you are a hard worker, you can be just as good as those smart people. I mean, I really searched for those books and I found them, so there you go. Are you ready to check them out, because I have to go clean up all of these books."

Genji looked at the pile of books that were scattered around the math section. He sighed as he started to pick them up and put them back in any kind of way. It wasn't out of spite for the librarian, rather, it was that he totally forgot about how libraries work, that everything was alphabetized. He didn't really notice it, the villainess would get it, but maybe that's why she's so evil...
