Appearance: Anna is somewhat dark-skinned, with short black hair and shining green eyes. The sides of her head are shaven, and the rest of her hair is kept under a grey woolen kepi, which has a microchip attached to it as a decoration. She almost always wears a brown trenchcoat with extra pockets, blue jeans, large brown boots, and a dirty shirt of undeterminate color. Over it all, she usually hangs a large grey postman's satchel, used to store all the loot she gathers from her trips. She stands at 5'7, with long, developed legs, and a generally athletic physique.

Personality: If one had to describe Anna Hess in one word, that word would be 'cocky'. Anna, on the other hand, often describes herself as 'brilliant', and takes almost every chance she gets to prove that brilliance - usually by demonstrating her self-created plug. She has a generally sarcastic demeanor towards everyone she meets - which, given that she lives near Libertaria, often includes pirates. However, all of that posturing and sarcasm covers for some deep insecurities about herself and her talents. That, coupled with her general hot-bloodedness, means she doesn't take well to having her abilities questioned. All in all... not a combination of traits that ensures a long and happy life.

—Description: Though at the moment she lacks experience and some relevant knowledge, Anna posesses a talent for plugwork, and was able to create her current plug on her own. Anna is competent enough to Edit Plugs (but not Upgrade them) by herself, and receives a 10% VC discount on doing so.

—Description: Months of exploring the junkyard that surrounds Libertaria have trained Anna to find good loot even in the most unlikely places. Once per thread, Anna may reroll her Shuffle Time, and choose either of two rolls as the result.

—Description: Anna has no need for purchasing plugs. After all, she can create her own, much better ones. As a result, for Anna, the cost of purchasing plugs in the Plug Shop is raised by 10%.

—Description: For someone who uses sarcasm as a default responce to any situation, Anna is laughably easy to provoke. +15% chance of being affected by Rage.

—Description: Due to constantly relying on her Persona for battles, Anna isn't as good of a fighter without her Plug as she could be. It's not that she lacks the necessary strength - she just can't be bothered to learn how to do it properly, since her Plug is a proof of her brilliance and why wouldn't she show it off? -15% Dx.

—Weakness Name: Overconfidence
—Description: Anna is often far too full of herself to properly strategise or readjust to her surroundings. If one were to seize the upper hand, that would be easy to take advantage of. The ceiling of critical chance for attacks against Anna is raised by 10% (from 60% to 70%).

Weapon Description: A small, slender rapier (about 80 cm long), themed after a screwdriver. Anna herself considers it a little ridiculous.

Side-Arm Description: A small shotgun with a 16-inch long barrel that Anna carries under her coat. It's quite visibly worn, though still works perfectly.

Side-Arm Style: Shotgun - Scatter Shot - Accuracy is decreased by 30%. Consumes 3 types of ammo at once to fire -must be same type of ammo. Can shoot all enemies with one attack.

The Background

History: Anna's parents have met under... somewhat unusual circumstances. Robert Hess was a Libertarian pirate, one of the descendants of the old society. Regina Chandler, on the other hand, was a (back then) beautiful wife of a businessman, traveling on a ship that just so happened to be a target of a pirate raid. Regina, deathly bored of her normal life, saw the attack as a chance to escape it, and one of the raiders as dashing and attractive. Said raider was, obviously, Robert, and they ended up coming to Libertaria together.

Years went by, and Regina was sorely disappointed. The pirate life was one of scarce supplies and limited entertainment. It was a life in a junkyard. Not helping matters was the fact that Robert got injured in a raid a year after they met, retiring from piracy and taking up repairing plugs as a result. Add to this the pressure of raising a child, and Regina has grown to resent Robert, blaming him for trapping her in the dump (despite the fact that eloping with a pirate was her idea).

Robert died when Anna was eleven, his injury finally claiming his life. From her early years, she was drawn to technology, often sitting and watching her father work. After his death, though, that came to an end. Regina saw many qualities of Robert in Anna, and took out her frustrations by trying to stomp them out. Nothing Anna did was ever good enough, and trying to tinker with plugs was eventually forbidden altogether. Flat-out verbal abuse was also commonplace, to the point where Anna came to see every interaction as a potential battle.

Eventually, it got too much to bear. At the age of eighteen, when Anna was legally considered an adult, she fled her home, living on her own from that point on. The first month was the hardest, but she persevered, determined to prove to the world she was not worthless. Now, she lives in a shack outside of the city, scavenging the surroundings for loot and fighting Shadows with her self-created plug. It isn't exactly a profitable endeavour, since all of the good stuff was long taken, but it's something she can do on her own.
