**ALERT!** After a rather eventful evening at Maksim's Party, three teenagers seems to have gone missing. The doors of Vault Olympia have been breached due to a to this day unknown assailant, who sabotaged the doors locking systems, allowing demons to make entry. Thanks to the excellent defensive capabilities of the Vault's Security drones, the Attack was put to an end, and the invading monsters fled to the outside. Right now, the Doors of Vault Olympia are currently open, allowing any survivors of the fall to seek shelter within the Vault's safe halls. What Vault Security officials think of this development remains unclear as the Chief of Police and Security of Olympia refused to leave a comment. This is Rianara, of Olympia news, signing out.

A Bump in a New Direction Empty
PostSubject: A Bump in a New Direction   A Bump in a New Direction EmptySun Feb 10, 2013 1:51 pm

It was a beautiful day at Kizuna Academy when Genji found out that he had nothing to do today for his Disciplinary Committee activities. It almost shocked him, since it was very common for him to be sent on some mission around the school or be put on a patrol to see how the clubs are doing. But today was different, Genji had nothing to do.

He thought about going home and relaxing a little, he rarely gets to do that with all of his homework, his part time job at the pool, and his Student Council activities. There was something on his mind, though. It was eating at him, he couldn't shake the feeling. He stood there and tried to go over his to do list for the day. Dammit, what am I forgetting? Okay, so work and homework, nothing new, but it had something to do with work? No, not that. Was it homework? ...Oh! Yeah, it was, I had to check out a book at the library for my history class, that's it.

Genji was happy that he remembered, he didn't want his grades to slip or miss any assignments. He hates forgetting about his assignments and it almost kills him on the inside when he fails to complete an assignment or doesn't do it right. He finds it odd that he feels more guilty about this than before, but there's a lot of guilt going around in his head, so it's not surprising to him.

Now with the book in his head, Genji started to walk towards the library, he knew that the literature club was meeting today, so he thought it would also be a good way to see how everyone in the club was doing. It wasn't official Student Council business, but he just liked making sure that everyone was okay. Hopefully he wouldn't scare anyone with his looks, because literature club members are shy people. Shy people are often terrified by intimidating people, but he has learned that it's not always the case.

He was almost to the library, he could almost picture the book in his head, then he would run home and get ready for work, but that thought didn't last long. Before Genji knew what was happening, he walked full force into someone, not actually bumping him, but running into him with his whole body. Genji, startled, said, Oh Shit, as he hit the poor student, he hoped that he was okay.

A Bump in a New Direction Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Bump in a New Direction   A Bump in a New Direction EmptySun Feb 10, 2013 2:21 pm

Ejji was in a rather good mood. Today was a fruitful day for him, since he had already finished all his studies and done his homework for the next day. Most would feel proud at this achievement, but for the Reiguu heir it was nothing special. Sometimes he felt that the material they covered during lessons was rather simple, so he had decided to do his homework during the classes themselves. Naturally, he had yet to complete the one that was given to the class at the end of the last lesson for today, but it would probably take less than an hour, so he wasn't at all concerned with such trivial matters.

The next thing Ejji needed to do, was to make a visit to the Library. He always enjoyed that particular part of the floor he was currently in. It was one of the few places of relaxation he had frequented the most, as well as a place outside of the Literature Club clubroom where they gathered on occasion.
The young man tugged at the collar of his school uniform, carefully unbotunning the few upper buttons. He disliked this small aspect about the school itself, since he loved when his neck was free of anything obstructing his breathing, and the collars were a bit too tight for his liking. Besides, it didn't help his somewhat, bad boy image. He always made sure to keep it between the "honor student" and the "hot student", while not really going for a complete look. The teachers did not object, and the femle population was only happy to see him walk by.

His train of thought was rudely interrupted when he felt a body slam into him. For all his boasts about being perceptive and alert at all times, he let himself slip like that. Luckily enough, Ejji was not a stranger to physical mishaps. His training at the kendo Club, and his private teacher, who instructed him since childhood, made sure he always could react to anything like this happening... well, not exactly like this, but even if caught off-guard, he would not fall on his butt.

So Ejji made sure to quickly and gracefully steady himself, and since the school hallway was not empty, he made sure to try and help the one who bumped into him. The things he did for his perfect public image. With the other hand he swept his hair back, taking a good look at the one who gave him such troubles.
He decided not to speak, since he was not sorry for this situation. He wasn't the one presumably speeding through the hallway.

A Bump in a New Direction Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Bump in a New Direction   A Bump in a New Direction EmptySun Feb 10, 2013 2:47 pm

Genji felt horrible. He didn't like to bump into people, it made him look rude. If there was one thing that swimming did not teach him, it was being alert, being under water usually kills alertness. He noticed that the guy he bumped into didn't fall, he must've been in a sports club as well, but one that actually teaches alertness. He immediately apologized to the young man, "God, what's the matter with me? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you, I was just heading to the library, but I guess I got caught up in my thoughts."

It was just something else to feel guilty about in Genji's head. He was probably going to be saddened by this for a little while, but he wants to make up for it, it's just what he does. He noticed that his Disciplinary Committee armband fell on the ground, along with the pins, he picked it up and re pinned it to his school jacket. He looked at the guy he bumped into again, he asked him, "Are you okay? I didn't hurt you, did I, before glancing over his body to see for any obvious problems.

There didn't seem to be any, but he knew for a fact that this guy is trying to attract the ladies, with his shirt and jacket collars popped open. He supposed that everyone had their thing, because when he went to check his goggles, they were still intact on his forehead. He could probably never take off his goggles, even if someone paid him. Maybe put his goggles around his neck, but never take them off.

It made him look like an athlete, even though he technically isn't a part of any sports clubs, anymore. Genji never really cared about image, but he does know that people don't usually associate him with being a hard worker, or the fact that he mostly does well in his classes. He's not the smartest person in the world, but he's definitely not dumb. The whole Disciplinary Committee thing doesn't help, either, many people would see him as some dumb bully.

Genji then tried to take some of the wrinkles out of his clothes, making sure that he didn't seem stuck up to the guy. The guy seemed like the quiet type, but Genji had no idea whether he was judgmental or not. If he was the judgmental type, that would make Genji feel even more guilty. Because the guy wouldn't hate him if he didn't bump into him, which could start drama, which could make people turn against him, which could... It goes on and on for Genji.

A Bump in a New Direction Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Bump in a New Direction   A Bump in a New Direction EmptySun Feb 10, 2013 3:16 pm

Outwardly Ejji appeared to be nonpulsed, but on the inside he had to sigh internally. This guy seemed already to be a talkative type, or at least the type to apologise a lot. Besides, he had just told him not only that he was sorry, but also the reason why they collided and where he was going. This was all unneccesary - it was not like Ejji wanted to hear this man's whole life story, the why's and the what's. But he guessed he could be less harsh in his judgement, simply because his attention was turned to something else at that moment.

The young man with the freckles on his face picked up a Disciplinary Committee armband. Intriguing. So this boy was a member of the Studen Council, and that pretty much meant that he could get away with a few things most in this Academy could not, but then again... if someone caught a member of the Council doing questionable things - the punishment would probably be harsher than normal. Unless, of course, the person in question also had good connections. So many variables.

Ejji furrowed his brows and studied the person before him. His mind quickly went thought the list of the Student Council members that he knew of. The Reiguu made a rule to know as much as he could about the group without looking like he had ulterior motives, and really, he had none. Other than maybe joining them, but that was an idea for another time. Getting back to this guy...

He remembered the name - Kano Genji, a Third Year student. He seemed to remember him from somewhere else though, since his face was somewhat familliar. He couldn't be exactly sure - so many simple folk around that even a man with a memory as good as Ejji's could have trouble remembering faces. He knew clearly though, that he had never really spoken to him before, having never done anything to earn the attention of the particular brach of the Student Council this young man belonged to.
But enough of that, Ejji decied to speak, since the silence was starting to get uncomfortable.

"No, you didn't." he answered truthfully, making sure to make a step back to give this man some space. "But you should be more careful in the future." Ejji concluded, with a hint of a mentoring tone in his voice.

Ejji decided to see what the reaction would be. Maybe the boy would be offended by the tone of his advice?

PostSubject: Re: A Bump in a New Direction   A Bump in a New Direction EmptySun Feb 10, 2013 3:53 pm

"I didn't hurt you? Great, that makes me feel much better. I should be a little more careful next time, but you probably know what it's like to be caught up in your thoughts sometimes, right?" Genji was really happy that he didn't hurt him, he was even happier that the guy wasn't angry at the bump.

He could tell that this guy wasn't the talkative type. He actually answered Genji after a long, awkward silence. Genji was an average person when it came to talking, but he figured that not everyone had to be as extroverted as he was. He was pretty convinced that this guy was going to head to the library, but wasn't so sure. It wasn't nice to stereotype people, but Genji didn't have to stereotype him, he was able to figure him out rather easily.

Genji also noticed that the younger guy told him to be careful in a mentoring tone. He brushed it off, though. Even though the guy was probably younger than him, Genji had no right to get offended by it, he was an oaf for running into him anyway, so he kind of deserved it, or at least, he thought he deserved it. He was probably someone who was very serious about things, which Genji was as well, but Genji wasn't so quite about it, he was reserved, but not as passive as he was. Genji was feeling a lot better about the day, now, but he still needed to head to the library and get the book.

He made eye contact with his ramming victim's blue eyes and asked him, "Hey, are you heading into the library, too? By the way, my name's Kano Genji, what's your name?" Genji figured that if he was going to ram into someone, he might as well have the courtesy to ask him his name. If the guy was heading into the library as well, he might help him find the book that he is looking for. With Genji's busy schedule, he doesn't really have much time to read at all. So he didn't really know libraries, well, especially the school library. He hoped that his new acquaintance would be able to help him with his problem. But first Genji would have to know whether he was actually going to the library or not in the first place. Though it was embarrassing having to ask for help looking for books, Genji thought that it was a lot better than looking around the library and possibly missing work.

PostSubject: Re: A Bump in a New Direction   A Bump in a New Direction EmptySun Feb 10, 2013 4:22 pm

Ejji, of course, already knew the name of the young man before him, but he decided to keep that fact to himself. Instead he quickly analyzed the situation. It seemed that they were both going to the library, and it would be useless to try and dissiduate this guy, since if Ejji made a sharp turn and just walked away right now, Genji would simply follow him. Perhaps he would even continue to pester him with useless talk. So the right decision was pretty clear - Ejji would have to give his name and spend some time in the company of this student.

It would be okay too, if not for the fact that this Genji just went and compared the two of them. Naturally, none of the frustration at the fact showed on Ejji's face, but it was still not right. The heir of the Reiguu knew for a fact he was a better person all around. He was not going to just admit that Genji's remark about getting lost in thought was spot on. No - it was the other's guy's fault and only his.

"I'm afraid you are wrong. Things like that don't happen to me." Ejji replied coldly, making sure not to show any other signs of negative emotion. After all, was he not a merciful person? Surely Genji would make his own conclusions and see who was a better man.

The honor student then took some time to look aside, in the direction of the Library. He supposed that there was no other way around, and he would lose some of the precious time he had in the Library. He just wanted to be left alone to his own business, but no. Things were never that easy. His perceptive eyes caught the signs of the students gather around the two of them. Perhaps they thought it was a confrontation of sorts? One thing was for sure - the others gave Ejji and Genji a wide berth. It was to be expected - Reiguu Ejji was a too high-class and few dared approach him, and Kano Genji was a member of the Disciplinary Committee which made sure people were weary of him.
It was time to move, lest they attract too much attention. Ejji was sure some sort of rumours were going to start because of this.

"Let us go." he decided not to elaborate on his reasons and turned around, turning his head only to add one more thing. "I am Reiguu Ejji."

He started to walk towards the Library.

PostSubject: Re: A Bump in a New Direction   A Bump in a New Direction EmptySun Feb 10, 2013 4:58 pm

Genji listened to his acquaintance's reaction. He stood there stunned, he was speechless. He couldn't wrap his head around someone getting offended over a simple comment that didn't mean anything offensive, that was supposed to be given in a simple, joking manner. Genji tried to think of an explanation. He really couldn't understand.

It took him a little while to understand, but he eventually got it. He probably didn't want to think that he was not paying attention. Genji didn't care if he looked like an idiot or not, but he guessed that it was a big deal to him. Genji again brushed it off, he wanted to be the bigger person, not start a fight. Fights are childish, unless your life is threatened. Genji never liked to resort to violence in his Disciplinary Committee activites, but some people don't like being scolded, so they try to fight in order to save face.

Speaking of fights, it seemed that many students came around, expecting a fight between the two. They gave Genji and his "buddy" some room, hoping to see something good. His "friend" turned around and went into the library, he told him that his name was Ejji Reiguu. Genji didn't have time to think of anybody he knew with the name, he had troublemakers to deal with. He angrily dispersed the crowd. They were acting rather childish. They all scattered away, they were lucky that he didn't send them all to the principal for trying to start a fight.

Genji turned away from the nonsense and went into the library. He turned towards Ejji and asked him, "One last thing, can you help me find a certain book, I need it for history class, but I don't come here often, you are pretty smart, so I'm sure you'll be able to find it." He was hoping that his new acquaintance wouldn't be too angry at him to not help, even though Genji thought that he did nothing wrong.

Wait, Genji knew this person, or, he heard of this person. It wasn't the first name, it was the last name. Reiguu... He remembered! Reiguu! His family is a major sponsor of our school. I remember the family being at all of our functions. No wonder why he's popular. He's famous in this school. I think I offended him, though, oops. Genji just hopes that his new buddy doesn't take his comment to heart too much, that could end up very bad for him. All he wanted was a book, too...

PostSubject: Re: A Bump in a New Direction   A Bump in a New Direction EmptySun Feb 10, 2013 5:22 pm

As Ejji walked away, he made sure to turn his head slightly in order to observe the young man disperse the crowd with ease and practise. Guess he wasn't in the Disciplinary Committee for nothing then, and coul handle a situation before it started. Commendable.
Ejji took some time to think about what he observed just mments before. It seemed that this Genji person caught on with the fact that Ejji was displeased, if the freckled boy's face was anything to go by. At least it was pretty easy to read his new acquaintance.

He made sure to make it look like he didn't pay much attention when Genji caught up to him. He made it look like he turned his head when he started speaking. At first the Reiguu heir was about to be annoyed, but then Genji actually said why he wanted the help of the snow-haired student, and that caused a barely noticable twitch of Ejji's lips. So, this new "friend" of his actually understood that Ejji was smarter than most people. Perhaps he misunderstood something about earlier, or perhaps Genji understood it just now - it didn't matter.
Ejji decided to not let the scilence linger this time, opting to grace the boy walking beside him with a conversation. It could prove enlightening.

"Hn." he began, running a hand through his hair, smoothing it out, even thought it was unneccesary, the haircut being perfectly as he wanted it to be anyway. "I suppose I should help you then. I am a member of the Literature Club, and am no stranger to the Academy Library."

If he were a lesser person, he would be feeling pretty smug with himself. But he didn't, seeing as it was pretty natural for him - he was one of the top of his class, and the very best... if it weren't for that new transfer student. But that was of no matter now.
A few more minutes, and they would be at the entrance to the library.

Genji couldn't see Ejji's face, but it seemed that Genji said something right to Ejji, that all of the coldness was gone. He was starting to feel a little better about the situation. Maybe Ejji misjudged him or something? He didn't really know. Ejji also agreed to help him with finding his book, which made him ecstatic He was going to get help, which was awesome. From all that he knew, this guy was probably smart.

Ejji also mentioned that he was in the Literature Club, so that means that he definitely knew where books were Genji was pretty happy. He's just doing everything right today, it seems. As he walked down the bland tile of the hallway, he was getting closer and closer to the library, it seems that he would be able to get this done quickly. But he's curious as to whether he can actually hang out with Ejji longer today or not, who knows, maybe he can. But he didn't want to ask now, since he might not want to just yet, so he will wait a little while before asking.

A Bump in a New Direction Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Bump in a New Direction   A Bump in a New Direction EmptyMon Feb 11, 2013 6:03 pm

Ejji actually had some time to enjoy the silence as the two of them neared the entrance to the Library. He honestly did not think that his new acquaintance would keep quiet for the rest of the way, and he was pleasantly surprised. It seemed that he had been too quick to judge Genji... although on the other hand this could be one of the few exceptions. Perhaps the fellow student was simply this way when he first met someone, seeing as people behaved differently when they were in a company of a new person. Ejji could not discard this theory. He loved to take all the options into account - it kept his mind sharp and open to possibilities. This also allowed for better experience when dealing with something similar in the future.

And so, after another minute, the two students stepped foot into the Library. The sight that greeted them inside was spectacular indeed. it always brought a hint of a smile on Ejji's face. This section of the Academy was quite old fashioned. The long bookshelves stood tall and proud, almost reaching the ceiling. There were wheeled ladders all over the place, so that people could actually reach to the highest sections of the bookshelves. There were also a few areas with chairs and long tables, where people could read or do their homework. And then there was the check out point near the entrance, where the two new arrivals now stood.

Ejji took a second to inhale the scent of old books, enjoying in this small, weird pleasure, and turned his head to his companion.

"Where to?" he asked a simple question. Of course, by these words he wanted to know where they should begin. He still didin't know what kind of books Genji was looking for.

Genji has been to the library before, but it's not like he has ever had time to enjoy it, or anything like that. It's quite a shame, really. He would probably read more often if he had the time, to, but just couldn't. He didn't like wasting his time watching TV, the internet wasn't his favorite place to waste time, either. His schedule was rather demanding, because he never had time to do anything he wanted, luckily his part time job let him go to the pool.

He glanced around the library and took in the smells of literature. It was something he rarely smelled, so he wasn't quite used to it. He looked from section to section, seeing if he had any idea where he could find the book that he was hoping to use for his homework, but had no clue where to start. All of the sections seemed to merge together, like one giant section of books, he was going to need help for this, after all.

He turned towards his new acquaintance and asked him, "I need to find a book on American History, mainly during pre American times, do you have any idea where to find it?" Hopefully his new buddy was able to help him find it, because he knew that he would never be able to find it. The book would serve him well in his history class. His project was to do a period of American history and do a presentation on it. The olden days of America always intrigued him, he always had an interest in America, since it was probably the most popular country in the West. If his bumping buddy could find it, then he could finish the project up with ease. Finding the book would probably make his day.

A Bump in a New Direction Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Bump in a New Direction   A Bump in a New Direction EmptyWed Feb 13, 2013 5:02 am

Ejji took but a few moments to go through the memories of the library in his head, quickly remembering the correct route to a specific place they needed to go. With a small, affirmative nod to himself he turned his eyes back to his companion and spoke.

"Follow me."

And with that he started walking. Their path took them between the different aisles of the room, between the numerous bookshelves. On their way they encountered only a few students, which were busy with their own searches for knowledge. Perhaps some were here to relax and simply read to their heart's content. Ejji had often being one of those people, not realy needing to visit the Library often for class-related purposes.

The Reiguu wondered while they walked, guiding his companion on autopilot. This boy was a Third year, and so it automatically made him a "sempai", but Ejji had yet to call him that, as well as adress him by his name at all. He scolded himself mentally. No mattter what sort of person Genji was, unless he was a delinquent, Ejji knew better than to break the rules of conduct and proper behaviour. He had to rectify that mistake.

He made sure to do that, once they reached the object of their search. They stood one before one of the long bookshelves, and with a quick scan, Ejji thrust out his hand and grabbed two books in a single, swift motion. They were not very thick, so that made it look easier... and a bit more stylish, but Ejji would never admit that to anyone. With these, Genji would have no problem.

"These are the books you need, Kano-sempai." Ejji adressed the boy by his last name. Funny, he was too used to hearing that same "-sempai" suffix being used with his own last name, usually sounding in overly sweet, girly tones. He suppressed a groan and a chuckle, remaining completely calm.

It was like being led through a labyrinth as Genji was led to his destination by his new acquaintance, Ejji. The shelves just seemed to be dead ends to a never ending maze. Genji was very happy that Ejji was his guide, since Ejji looked as if he knew what he was doing, that confidence was a great thing to have.

As they got to their destination, he saw a few books that would've been perfect for him. Before Genji could even open his mouth, his mysterious buddy grabbed two books off of the shelves that Genji would've taken, anyway. It was either that this guy was a genius, or that he really knew his books. Maybe even both. Ejji even took the two books at the same time, like it was nothing to him! Genji stood there amazed as the books were effortlessly taken off of the shelves and handed to him.

"That was amazing, Ejji-san! You must really know your books, because I would never be able to do that in my life," he told Ejji, excitedly. This was great, he could get his books, plus he made a new friend.

Genji proceeded to the checkout, he was excited for his new books, since he was always interested in America, he might even visit there someday, if his English ever gets better. The librarian started to check his books out, then asked for his library card. Oh... He didn't expect that. He asked the librarian for a card, but he would need to get his parents to sign for one... His parents...

Genji sat there with the application and didn't know what to do with himself. He could feel his face twist in sadness. He couldn't check out his books, unless he went to his parents, it was something he didn't want to do right now. He didn't want to face them, not yet. He didn't even get any letters or emails from them at all... He didn't want to see them, it was too much too soon.

A Bump in a New Direction Empty

Everything seemed to go smoothy after that point. Genji had seemed to be overjoyed by the fact that the books he was looking for were found with such ease. Ejji would make a wild guess and say that his new acquaintance would feel extremely thankful to him for the whole day. The Reiguu was not a real bad person, but something inside his brain began to work in the direction of making something useful from this encounter. Perhaps he could gain something from this boy, if he played his cards right? Having a... "contact" in the Studen Council, and the Disciplinary Committee was a good thing, even if his reputation was impecable.

And lo and behold, something seemed amiss. Ejji noticed that Genji stopped in his process of checking out the books. The white-haired student watched the whole proceedings carefully, even while thinking. Genji seemed to grow sad and inactive at the mention of his library card. Perhaps he had forgotten it somewhere, or lost it? It didn't matter - for this was a really good chance to interviene. Play the benevolent benefactor. Ejji barely kept a smirk from taking over his features.

With a decicide step forward, Ejji quickly took the initiative.

"Please, let me. It seems my friend lost his card, so I shall check out the books." Ejji used a bit of his charm, but that was really unneseccary, since the librarian knew him. The woman smiled from behind her thin glasses.

"Very well, Reiguu-san. I trust you to return them in time." she told him, finishing the task.

"Of course." Ejji nodded, taking back his card.

He did not let Genji say a word and the two quickly exited the Library, where the Reiguu handed the young man his books. It seemed that everything was going as planned, if he dared say so.

"Here are your books. I hope they help." Ejji made sure to act calm and collected. No smiles, no nothing. Like he didn't even think twice about using his card in Kano's place... and, really, he didn't. It was an "everyone win" scenario.

A Bump in a New Direction Empty

Almost like clockwork, Ejji took Genji's books and checked them out for him. Genji's was amazed that Ejji knew that something was not right before taking the books. Ejji then gave the books to Genji, trusting that he will return the books on time.

Genji was moved by this unexpected kindness. It was a long time that someone did something for him. Ever since his parents told him that they were getting a divorce and he moved out of his house. He felt like the world was a little fairer than he thought it could be. He was very grateful that he met Ejji and that he took books out for Genji. Genji quietly told himself to make sure that he got them back on time.

He looked to the books, then Ejji and told him, "Thank you so much for checking these out, I was kind of surprised that I needed a parent's signature to get a library card. I don't think that's really possible right now."

Genji looked at his clock, surprising himself with the time. If he didn't leave now, he might be late for work, he really didn't want to be late, he needed the job, so he had to say goodbye to Ejji, for now, at least. He didn't want to say goodbye, but there wasn't a choice.

"I'm so sorry, Ejji-san, I have to leave now in order to get to work, I can't afford to get fired. Thank you so much for helping me out there, it means a lot to me. Bye for now, I hope we can hang out again without me bumping into you." Genji bowed deeply to Ejji before running off down the hall, if he kept this pace up, he would be able to get to his dorm on time, then off to work. He hoped he would see Ejji again. He would be a good friend.
