Mirror Mirror On The Wall [Infinite Jest]

The spider waits in its web. The cat waits to pounce on prey. The audience here waits with held breath for the show to begin.

Movement:

corner stare around it guard. not funny not funny he wont get the joke it is a funny joke he will ruin the punchline. troublesome rubble make muddled thoughts double the man scratched the stubble of his MaGnIfIcEnT BeArD.

ponder wonder.

he is going forwards but backwards now the way that was gone before. secret cant tell the secret or eVeRyOnE wIlL dIe they will be kIlLeD tO dEaTh. but that would be unfunny before the punchline. soon is not now but it will be later and everyone will laugh because they will be friends always.
There's a guard to the left heading this-a-way.
If we're quick we can take the other hallway and sneak by him.

the lady can hear the words through the MaGnIfIcEnT BeArD she understands the joke it is a funny joke they cant tell it too soon or it wont be as funny. they dont exist never will never have never did the funniest voices came from where you couldnt hear them they told funny jokes and laughed and laughed and screamed and laughed.
walkie talkie to the lobby where the floor was freshly waxed.
dont slip and break your neck thats only for the guards if the secret is told.
they were all over the place here and there the guards and they slippery melty hot wax.
A guard is patrolling, we can't sneak by him this way. Come the other way, we can take the side hallway.

feet go step stip stomp through the lobby and out the other side to the other right way not the first straight way that was wrong. it is the guards that are the worry they have eyes to see with that dont belong to them and that was furious. the prying eyes moved cheshire cat and saw all things always like the puppets wanted. silly little puppets without souls couldnt see the waxed BeArDeD lady it will ruin the joke it was a funny joke.

around the bend is the trend with possibly friends if they fallow the MaGnIfIcEnT BeArD corner stare around it guard. he will move soon through the eyes he doesnt have left foot right foot left he will go soon but later. and then they can tell the joke it is a funny joke everyone will laugh.

all of them will laugh about it after what they did.

Everything would wait as eyes watched all. Walking eyes. Stationary eyes. They were all there. Around the corner. This way was no good, so the said the one with beard. Said there were snakes up ahead. Snakes she’d like to dance with, but not right now. For now, she’d have to do another sort of dance. One that involved circles, circles. So many circles. They’d go back the down the hall and into the room where the Wax man waited. She would give the Waxed one a smile broken and hidden, but a smile nonetheless. Perhaps she was saying welcome back without speaking or something like that. Perhaps she just wanted to smile. Perhaps it didn’t matter at all. They would collect Wax as Bearded took the lead. Did his beard make him leader material? The woman would have to wonder as she moved along.  

The Beard said to try a different path to avoid the snakes and she would not argue. She would simply nod her head and follow with her gently sways and quiet footsteps. She would not fuss for now and would not fuss as long as she got to have fun. And fun perhaps she would have if they did not constantly go in circles.

Circles were fun for only a little while, but then their winding paths would become boring. Predictable. Frustrating. Maddening. Not the good type of maddening either. Killing type maddening. Killing was fun when done in the dark and out of pleasure, but done out of madness? No. That was no fun. Why? Because madness made too many bodies. Too much art and soon too many eyes were drawn to it. All the wrong eyes. The eyes that did not understand the beauty. The eyes that had whistle mouth and called out the snakes that ruined it all. This sort of killing was not fun. It was boring and bad. So maddening she hoped this did not come to be. If it did she would have to try and entertain herself by using the old and boring. She did not like that. Not being able to be creative. No that was frustrating. So pray. Pray it all did not go down such a path.

For now the path was good, so she would follow until once more they had come to a stop. Waiting to press forward to perhaps find something delightful ahead. Though whether that delightful thing would be good or not she could not tell and would not be able to tell until they moved again.

Movement:

tik tok goes the clock when time stops like a rock. the punchline is coming but it will be soon soon is later than now but not yet. the guards walk back and forth tik tok clockwork puppets never the wiser always the dumber time flies like an arrow but fruit flies like a banana rotting filth. the gutters will overflow with chunks of their ignorance red like rust like their rusty dusty ways it will clog the streets with laughter when the punchline comes. they would understand the joke it was a funny joke it was a clean joke it would cleanse the puppets of their rusty dusty red filth ignorance and they would laugh and be angels.
so pretty.
they will all be one again.

the waxed BeArDeD lady brambled to the hall of the wallway.
The way is clear. Let's move now before anyone sees.
murmur murmur murmur through the MaGnIfIcEnT BeArD quiet as a mouse dont tell the secret it will give the joke away it is a funny joke.
murmur murmur murmur through the doors voices like comedy telling jokes unfunny. they will get the joke it is a funny joke the voices will giggle like schoolgirls in the belly of a tyrant in the belly of a monster but who is the monster wonder ponder.
times up trick question the answer is everyone is the monster and they will all be told the clean joke and be pretty. in time the halls will be churning again with the mindless puppet drones faces like stone unlaughing they cant know the secret joke it will be a funny joke.

zip zoom zop like a rocket past the sprocket robot poppets quicker than the eyes that did not belong to them could see. they could only see when they the punchline came for them. whirling swirling up down hallways forwards and leftways dont caught yet or else time runs out game over bye bye. the fat lady would sing like music catchy music and the sounds of slapstick laughtracks from the leftways further.
a nice tune.
a familiar tune it hummed and vibrated the tune.
days long past criss cross apple sauce on the floor the television played stories of heroes beating the bad guys once a week. it was a funny joke back then it was real but not anymore the MaGnIfIcEnT BeArD knew the truth all of it was lies they were lying liars.

none of that mattered.

time to go the clock tik toks.

The group would not enter a party, but rather an empty room with some interesting things to play with and destroy. Each thing was tempting to touch, but a small conversation would ultimately decide what they did next.

they couldnt break the puppets toys. the generator would laugh and then the guards would run and find them that wouldnt be funny at all. only people were allowed to break they break nice snap crack pop squish down they go geronimo. suspicious malicious conspicuous jokes were stale like cardboard like the people like cardboard.

the voices were everywhere.

strange ones empty voices with empty heads attached they didnt get the joke it was a funny joke. the waxed BeArDeD lady walked among them the people not like them but they looked like them. regular normal smiles for regular normal people. walk along smile all friends here nothing to see dOnT lOoK aT mE. he imagined them laughing hortle chortles gasping for air gurgling on the red dusty rust when they learned what the joke was it was a funny joke. everyone would be happy they would be together it was an inside joke the outside was lies.
nothing was real.
the people werent real and the laughing friends werent real they would learn the truth and they would get the joke.
They would understand then why this needs to happen. They had it coming. All of them had it coming and no one would survive.

dont let them see.

the guard around the corner goes backways frontward and then they go walk faster cant stop cant be seen. he was close. he was close enough for the MaGnIfIcEnT BeArD to tickle the giggle fits would be wiggling on the ground in rusty red dust laughing.
like screams.
but not yet it wasnt time for the punchline they needed to wait for the punchline to be funny.
music is louder now and slapstick zop kapow. beat the bad guys criss cross apple sauce long ago once a week. but it was all lies they were going to meet the liar he would laugh at the joke too. maybe he would sign the MaGnIfIcEnT BeArD autograph phonograph seismograph hundreds dead more missing buried in the rubble. what trouble.
faster faster speedwalk faster cant get caught no no no. around the corner ollie ollie oxen free homebase. the guards were it but they cheated. they used eyes that didnt belong to them cheshire cat on the wall grin gran grun wonderland.

it was almost time. time to meet the man of feathers stranger danger red ranger. red like dusty rust.
