The Heartfelt Bakery was a lovely bakery tucked away in Little Tokyo, gaining popularity with its charismatic atmosphere and the amazing baked goods found within. They held a mix of traditional English goods mixed with the Japanese recipes the Bryce's gained from their time living in Little Tokyo.

Today was like any other day for Zavie... Which meant sleeping at the counter and lazily waiting for customers to come by. They got most of their business through special orders, so he rarely actually had to do stuff. Window shopping was way too popular, and people simply would look at the display case at the window before moving on.

Though, the boy was worried about his flower friend today. He had it sitting at the counter with him, a small frown on his face. He got it from Mrs. Robinson, but it didn't seem to be growing or getting any stronger. It honestly felt sad to him, he supposed. Regardless, the bakery was open and awaiting customers with a bell ready to ring when they entered.

Andrew ran down through the streets of Little Tokyo, singing his lungs out as per usual. Of course, he got the ocassional look here and there, but 99% of the time people around him attributed it to him being just a kid. Even if they were made uncomfrotable, Andrew didn't really care. He was having fun! Anyone who wanted to stop his fun could stuff it!

Eventually, Andrew ran past a building that caught his eye. His feet skid on the ground like the brakes of a car, and he slowly turned to look at the window pane that had caught his attention. It was a bakery! Oh god, the food inside looked soooo good! He took a look at the allowance he'd stuffed in his pocket; it was just about enough to buy something!

Without further hesitation, Andrew opened the door to the bakery and looked around. After resting his eyes on a particularly heavenly looking cinnamon roll, he grabbed it and put it on the counter. "'Scuse me! I'd like t'buy this, please!"

The boy's ears would perk up from under his hat as he heard someone enter the bakery. He'd sit up and begin saying the welcoming phrase but he didn't actually see anyone. He'd tilt his head gently and lean over the counter to try and find the person in here but to no luck. He'd cross his arms in confusion before a cinnamon roll was placed on the counter and a concoction of contractions were said that made Proxy twitch painfully in the boy's head, causing him to flinch slightly at the words.

"A-Ah, s-sorry... Hello and, um, welcome to the Heartfelt Bakery! Is that everything you needed today?" he'd ask the fellow child with a small smile and tilt of his head. He hadn't had really served too many kids before. This was almost a first for him, in all honesty.

"Is that all you want? The cookies here are really good as well!" he'd chime with a charming smile as he did so. He wanted to try and make this kid happy, at the least. It wasn't every day he met someone around his age... Though, he did seem younger than he was.

“Huh?” Andrew would tilt his head before taking a look at the cookies that the bakery offered. They did look really good, but… Andrew didn’t have enough money to buy the cinnamon roll as well as a cookie. He briefly considered stealing it, but… dad would get so mad at him if he found out. That, and… the kid that ran this shop seemed so nice! It wouldn’t be fair to just take it from him after he spent hard work on making it, would it? “O-oh, ‘m sorry, I don’t hav ‘nuff money t’buy it. It does look tasty, though!” He'd understand, right? Though... now that Andrew realized, the store had a lot of treats left. Like, a lot. Had sales not been going well lately? Was that why the kid wanted him to buy a cookie as well? Oh no, now he felt really bad!

Proxy writhed in pain, she couldn't handle the heathen tongue the boy was using so casually. Zavie didn't really find an issue with it, but he knew Proxy couldn't stand them for some reason. With a gentle mental shrug, he'd ignore her angry words and focus on the kid.

"Oh, it is fine. I just thought you might like one is all! So, you just want a cinnamon roll, right? They are really good, you know. I made a batch just the other day so I know exactly what goes in them." he would say with a smile and gentle nod of his head. He wondered why he was here alone, though... Did kids do that often? He never left the house so he didn't really know for sure... Hopefully, he knew where to go to get back home.

Regardless, he'd relay the price of the cinnamon roll with a smile. It was cheap, cheap enough for the boy to buy with his package change. Though, his eyes would drift to the flower at his counter. He really couldn't understand why it wasn't doing well. To him, it just felt sad. It was hard to explain, in his opinion...

Andrew simply looked at the other child and nodded. After he told him how much the cinnamon roll was worth, Andrew pulled out spare change from his shorts’ pockets and placed it on the counter, separating coins to count the total amount paid and then pocketing the rest. He might have actually miscounted and paid a little more than he was supposed to, he wasn’t really good with numbers or math of any kind. "Thanks!"

After pocketing the change again and confirmation was given that he’d paid the right amount of money, Andrew would happily hold the cinnamon roll with both hands and bite into it. He was about to leave, content with the transaction, but he couldn’t help but notice that the other kid was looking sadly at the flower pot on the counter. His curiosity piqued, Andre would finish chewing and swallow before addressing the child. “Um… are y’okay? Ye look kinda sad. Is somethin’ wrong with that flower?”

He'd smile in response to his thanks. He was a kind kid, at least. Even if Proxy couldn't handle how he spoke, Zavie thought he was interesting regardless of his lack of parents! Wait, maybe that made him interesting too? Kids were supposed to be with their parents, right? Oh goodness... Was he like Callie?

"Yes, of course. Anytime, sir." he'd say with a nod of his head. He was a kind kid, simple as that.

"O-Oh, um... I do not know... It just seems sad to me and I do not know why." he'd say with a small sigh, staring at the flower with a crossing of his arms. Was he just imagining it? Probably... He just didn't know how to feel about the flower anymore.

"Hm?" Andrew would gently cock his head to the side. He thought the flower was sad? But it was so pretty and lively and colorful! It kinda reminded him of a song he wanted to sing, but... he was in a closed space, so he would refrain. "Why'ss'at? It looks pretty pretty to me, like..." He would use his hands and the counter to lift himself lightly so he could get a better look at it, then chewed happily away at his cinnamon roll as he looked.

He'd sigh gently, looking at the flower with another frown. He really couldn't shake the feeling... Proxy didn't understand it either, but it was irrational that much she knew. with a huff, he'd push himself up to sit up straight, looking at the flower with squinted eyes.

"Maybe it is just! U-Um... No, I water it and put it in the sun and talk to it... I do not get it..." the young boy's observation was indeed correct. The flower was quite gorgeous. It was in full bloom and looked better than it ever did inside of the field the boy found it in. He just couldn't shake the feeling that it was sad for some reason...

So... the flower was perfectly healthy, in the prettiest stage of its life, in better than wilderness conditions, and it still seemed sad to the boy? That was weird, to say the least. What else could one ask for a flower other than it being pretty? It just didn’t make much sense to the Irish boy. "Hmm..." The boy tilted his head instinctively, trying to wrap his head around the issue. Maybe he was just too young to understand.

Then, as if on cue, an idea struck Andrew. “Oh, oh! I know!” Andrew would clamor, jumping up and down in self-fulfillment from coming up with the idea. “Why don’t’cha put ‘nother flower next to it? Then it’ll be less lonely~” Andrew figured that if somebody was lonely, they probably only needed a friend to make them feel better or appear less sad!

He'd nod his head at the boy's suggestion, he had actually thought about doing that before. But he hadn't been able to find a good flower to use for it... He'd let out a gentle sigh, staring at his flower before nodding his head, looking at Andrew with determined eyes.

"Alright! I will steal a flower from a garden then! It will be for this flower!" he'd proudly proclaim, nodding his head before staring at the plant. It was mostly a bluff, the flower already seemed a little happier! Wait, did that mean he actually had to steal something!? Oh no...

"... How do you steal a flower, though?" he'd let out a sigh, laying his head down on the counter once again. He really didn't know what to do about this...

Stealing a flower? Andrew was all for finding the flower a friend (they WERE living things after all, right? His teachers said so!), but would it really be right to steal one from another garden? What if the flower they stole already had friends in whatever garden it previously was? Andrew didn’t have many friends, but if someone suddenly ripped him away, separating him from his friends and family, he’d be devastated! “E-Err…” Andrew piped in, a bit concerned. “H-How ‘bout ye buy seeds and plant a friend instead? Y’could plant a whole buncha friends, like!” If he bought a seed packet and made the flower a bunch of friends, not only would it probably be much happier, but no flowers would need to say goodbye to their friends or family! It was the perfect plan!
