Updated: 20/07/2020

**ALERT!** After a rather eventful evening at Maksim's Party, three teenagers seems to have gone missing. The doors of Vault Olympia have been breached due to a to this day unknown assailant, who sabotaged the doors locking systems, allowing demons to make entry. Thanks to the excellent defensive capabilities of the Vault's Security drones, the Attack was put to an end, and the invading monsters fled to the outside. Right now, the Doors of Vault Olympia are currently open, allowing any survivors of the fall to seek shelter within the Vault's safe halls. What Vault Security officials think of this development remains unclear as the Chief of Police and Security of Olympia refused to leave a comment. This is Rianara, of Olympia news, signing out.

The site is entering a new era as our team of mods works tirelessly on updating old and obsolete information threads and links. Over the Summer, we aim to make many changes to the forum, including writing a comprehensive beginners' guide to help new players accommodate to the combat and other rp systems in place here.

Be sure to constantly check the update thread for any changes to the boards. You can find it ->Here<-

A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] 7G9YO1W

"Moooom, my friend should be over soon! Just send him up when he gets here!"

The boy would call from up the stairs, carrying a tray of cookies with him to his bedroom. He didn't really know what to do... If he wanted to do this... What would even happen. Proxy thought calling the cadets on him would be a smart idea... But he couldn't fathom doing that... What would he even say?

Regardless, the boy would set the tray of cookies on his desk neatly, going to straighten his bed in preparation for the person he was waiting on. He didn't like the idea of.. Sharing any sort of secret... Especially this one... But... No matter. He'd worry about that later.

He'd straighten his kimono gently before fixing the star hat on his head carefully. One thing he enjoyed about wearing kimono is that his tail could be let loose to sway under it. It made him feel... Nice? It was hard to describe the feeling of not having your tail perpetually tied around your waist...

A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] Zd6oraa

Regardless, the boy's bedroom was small for what it was, a bed, a desk, shelves, a closet, and pillows strewn around the room. He liked it, especially is proud collection of stuffed animals, calendars, and trinkets that the cats had brought him. It was nice. The window near his bed was open, mind. A few cats sitting there in anticipation it seemed.

The boy's mother was manning the register though. Whoever wished to come inside would have to talk to her first. She seemed calm and nice, a motherly smile on her face. But no one really knew how determined she was to keep her son safe. And him so suddenly having a friend over worried her greatly.

"This is the Heartfelt Bakery... Yes, the Bryce's live here... Who might you be?"

She'd ask with a slightly cold glare. She had never seen this boy before, and she immediately didn't trust him. Something about him just seemed eerily off... She couldn't really place it, but she was rarely ever off about the people Zavie should trust and hang out with. This was her domain, and not just anyone would enter it.

"I can't say I've ever seen you before... How do you know my son?" she'd ask with a pensive tilt to her head. She really didn't like this boy... Tsk, he had even just barged into the bakery thinking it was a house. Something was off about him... And she'd definitely be the one to uncover what that was.

She'd like to scoff at the boy, but honestly... When one asks a question on how someone knows their son, a little more depth is required. She'd shake her head gently, looking the young man up and down. He simply seemed suspicious. A character unworthy of her trust unless told otherwise.

"The other day I found my son crying in his closet... Was that you who caused him to do that?" she'd ask with sharpening eyes. She didn't find her son acting such ways unless truly frightened... And it was obvious something had caused him distress. And immediately the next day, he says a friend is coming over? It didn't take a detective to prove her suspicions.

"Honestly now... Who the hell are you and what do you want from my son?" she'd say in a hardening tone of voice. She couldn't care less what this person thought of her now. He was a threat, and she wouldn't allow anyone to get close to Zavie unless they were beyond one hundred percent trustworthy.

"No!" Takeru said, genuinely horrified at the possibility.
Hopefully, that wasn't his doing.... hopefully.
"My name is Takeru Kagemaru, and I just wanted to help him review some of his vocabulary. That's why I brought this!" He said, pulling out a pocket-sized dictionary from his bag to prove the point.

He then began to explain the circumstances behind their first meeting to provide context as to how the whole mess started. The game, and all.

She'd scoff at the loud no. He seemed so defensive, so sure that she couldn't see through his facade. Something was off about him. She was sure of it now. Most called her too superstitious for her own good, but in the world they lived in where you had people with supernatural powers and literal demons roaming the streets at night... It was hard not to suspect everyone of being absolutely vile deep down.

"I'll have you know my son doesn't need tutoring. I teach him very well and any help you'd give him would just clash with the curriculum I use." she'd say with a dismissive wave, looking down at the book she was reading. The nerve of this boy... She really didn't know what to think further of him. He just seemed like a waste of her time, and quite honestly, she expected him to leave sooner or later.

"Tsk, a game? My son plays that game with anyone who will listen to him. Really, you think you're special? I'd ask you to leave now..." she'd say with a gentle flip of her hair. She was in no mood to deal with this young man today. Whatever it was that was off about him made her mad, angry even. She wanted him gone, and that was that.

A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos]   A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] EmptyWed Oct 19, 2016 9:21 pm

OOC note:
"Alright, then. Sorry for bothering you." I say to the woman, and proceed to walk out the door outside.
Although the first word in her statement asking me to leave is "I'd" the contraction form of "I would", there are probably multiple ways that could be interpreted, and some of them are not so good. Especially with her being so unreasonable as to not even trying to check with her own child. That, and other things about her make me want to object, but I don't really have much of an option but to comply. If I get banned from here, mom is going to throw a fit.

Which means it's time for plan B.

"I hope it's the plan B that isn't the one where you do something extremely stupid and risky, like trying to enter through the fire escape. Or yell for Zavie from outside. You'd end up just wasting your time, and probably are going to get trouble for your efforts." Twelve snarks.

I could probably object to Twelve's remarks on pretty valid grounds, considering he's done the same, but seeing as how he's a part of me (or at least, technically, the manifestation of different parts of me), it might be the (or at least, one part is) part of me that has common sense.
Which means I should eliminate the ones he said for now.

Okay, now I need to think. Seeing as Zavie is most likely upstairs, I need to get his attention. But how...?
Okay, think. What do I have?
Inside my bag, I have some paper, a few pencils, that dictionary, a eraser, some notebooks and study material...
Wait. Paper.
That's it.

"You're going to throw a paper airplane with a note inside his room? Are you even certain any of the windows are open? Or, for that matter, the window you need to find? Amongst the many other problems with that plan as well?" Twelve remarks almost immediately.

I tell him to quiet. Sure, I know there are so many holes in this plan that rely on sheer luck. Truth be told, i'm kind of uncomfortable with that fact, yeah.
But hey, i've been feeling lucky lately.
And if I can kill a demon like Eligor in one shot, a feat of supreme luck, how hard can something like this be?

That being thought, I immediately start folding the airplane at the nearest bench, careful to make sure Zavie's mother can't see me anymore. Last thing I need is her getting infuriated enough to do something i'm going to regret getting hit with on a figurative (and/or literal) level. On the airplane, I write on it "Zavie, i'm outside. Your mother won't let me see you for some reason. Could you please do something about that?" I make several of these as back-ups, and once i'm done, I start examining the building's second floor, counting the windows as I walk around it.

I count at least seven windows on the second floor, and I think at least two of them are open. The one closest to the main road on the left on the front, and the one on the left wall it connects to, to be precise. They both belong to the same room, more than likely, so I take aim at the one in front, the one closest to me.

Even better, I couldn't ask for a better opportunity. I see some people (customers, no doubt) walk in.
Good.
I figure that gives me enough time to work with while she's distracted.

So I take aim, and throw one as hard as I can towards the window. I never was the best at this, originally, but in eighth grade, I did a presentation in science class on these beauties (it was to demonstrate aerodynamics, I got an A+ for that one), and to assist me, I learned how to fold (and effectively throw) these things.
My good dexterity helps too, 'cause the first one lands right inside the room, sailing in there.

Now comes the hard part: waiting.
I'll give him about five minutes, then try another window, wait another five minutes, and repeat. Unless she notices me. If she does, i'll cease temporarily until she quits watching me, then start again.

Because while it's a unsafe assumption to think that if you can't see them, they can't see you, it is a safe assumption to assume that if you can see them, so can they. Usually.

At the moment, I have a one in seven possibility (i'd say two in seven, or one in six, but those are based on the assumption that the two windows I thought were open being connected to the same room, so...) of being right.

Let's see if this works. What's behind window number 1?

A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos]   A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] EmptyThu Oct 20, 2016 12:34 pm

In actuality, the wannabe prodigy should have listened to his persona for multiple reasons. For starters, the Bryce's bakery was part of shopping strip meaning it was attached to another building on the left and a small alleyway bored up by a wooden fence connected them to the candle shop on the right. Secondly, Zavie's bedroom was in the back of the house due to the fact one of his windows is always open so that his cats can reach his bedroom with the use of the fire escape. Lastly, a window display took up most of the front of the Heartfelt Bakery, thus allowing a displeased mother Bryce to see the shenanigans the wannabe prodigy was trying to commit.

She'd put on a sly smile though, taking out her phone and dialing her neighbor's number, seeing as the boy had just thrown something into his house. Tsk tsk, she hated to do this... (Not really) But she wanted to prove a point. People would learn one way or the other even if they had the thickest skull known to man kind. With a haughty look on her face, she'd concoct a plan with her lovely neighbors.

"Eh!? Wazzit!? Claaaaarence!? Wazzit thing on the floor?" a loud, elderly voice would come from the window the boy had thrown the paper plane through. Not before long, an old lady would look down with a crumpled up piece of paper in her hand. She looked... Flattered? What exactly was going on?

A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] 13964

"Oh my goodness! Claaaaarence! I think I have a lover! Why can't you be this romantic!?"

She'd say, a small blush on her face as she waved at the wannabe prodigy, though, it wouldn't take long before the front door would open and an elderly looking man would walk out with a cup of tea in both hands. He seemed just as small as he looked at the young man. Goodness, back in his day people were much more respectful of the elderly.

A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] 1441923231-1b7ed18c52f586628d859cefc4901a74

"So you wish to challenge my honor?"

He'd say before suddenly seeming not so small. He'd place the tea carefully on the ground, seeming quite serious and not so kind any more. He looked beyond serious, a sheathed sword at his side as he began posed to fight. He was ready to defend his beloved's honor! Fifty years they had been together and fifty more they shall have!

A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] XWkj1Vh

"Prepare yourself, deceitful demon! I shall protect my beloved's honor!"

He'd say fiercely before the old lady would cry out in amazement. She hadn't seen her husband this serious since they had gotten married! And that terrible divide happened too! She'd smile and disappear for a moment before coming out the front door with a shogun looking flag in her hand.

"Oh Clarence, you're absolutely the best! Now show this young person what love can do!" she'd say excitedly, the old man smiling back at her causing the old lady to squeal like she was a school kid again. He'd unsheathe his sword... But it was only wooden. Couldn't have actual weapons now, could we? Though, it seemed a crowd was gathering around them, and not before too long mother Bryce made her way through the crowd with a haughty smile.

"Ladies and gentlemen! As you can see before you, we're about to see an actual shogun battle of old man Clarence defending his wife's honor and their love against this possibly gold digging young fellow! Gather around! Place your bets now!" she'd call out, stepping on a stool she had brought with her to gather an even bigger crowd. She'd smile down at the wannabe prodigy. This was going to be absolutely amazing.

Meanwhile, Zavie sat on his bed, reading a fashion magazine with his cats. His mom had closed the bakery, so he was waiting to hear a knock or something... Or he would be if he hadn't put on headphones to listen to Karma, sung by cool robots! He couldn't hear a thing at the moment.

A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos]   A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] EmptyThu Oct 20, 2016 2:15 pm

I watch the ensuring events unfold. The old man that comes out is one thing, and the thing with his wife triggers an immediate response.
"You know, in the spirit of trying to explain things, and for the record, i'm sorry old man, but i'm not after your wife. I respectfully apologize for this huge misunderstanding." I say, bowing politely.

That, and I have my eye on a different girl, one much more closer to my age group.
Then I saw Zavie's mother come out, and start yelling, drawing an even bigger crowd.... and try to start a gambling enterprise.

I immediately tell Twelve to not even say a word for this one. Mostly because i'm too damned pissed at all this.
Frankly, I could just scream, but since i'm out in public... well... this isn't gonna end well.
Man... just my luck, eh?

Well, that, and because of all this, i'm in a very awkward situation:

If I run, there will be trouble. I have a feeling that old man will hunt me down to the ends of the Earth if he has to. If I try to win through brute force, i'm going to be seriously injured, and someone's gonna call the cops on me. If I lose or surrender, i'm going to be at their mercy (something that I don't think is exactly good). I'm also not equipped with the things to deal with this, and while I could take an Indiana Jones 'I-don't-have-time-for-this' solution (a.k.a shoot him), i'd rather not because that would REALLY be asking for trouble.
....
Oh, what the heck.
"I surrender, old man. I'm not going to injure some old person like you over a misunderstanding blown out of proportion like this. Did you even read the paper airplane, and your wife's name happens to be Zavie as well, in which case, I hope for your understanding, the Zavie i'm looking for is a boy, you see, or is this the result of something else?" I asked the old couple.

Man... I should have just quit back then while I was only slightly behind. Now look at all this. Surrendering now was really the only thing I could do. Screw pride, man. I just wanna get rid of this BS.

If I didn't know better, i'd- no. Don't even think that. No. That would be like waving a huge, red flag in front of the bull that is Fate...

A Secret Within a Cookie [Telos] XWkj1Vh

"You dare to call my wife a liar!? Young man, such words mean war!"

The old man would say, his wife and the crowd ooing and cheering for the battle to begin. Mother Bryce sat on the stool, a small portable table in front of her with a sign that read 'Shogun Battle Event! Who Will Win!? Bet Right and Win Big!' She'd smile innocently, show casing an aloofness her son was known to possess. Acting innocent ran in her side of the family, after all.

"Zavie? Oh, that's such a foreign name in a place like this, dear. If you really want to lie, you should be more convincing!" she'd say with a small laugh escaping her, money piling up on the table. It was actually surprising how balanced the bets were. She'd clap her hands though, the old lady waving the flag.

"Alright! Let the shogun battle begin! Oh, hold on a moment..." she'd say, tossing Takeru a stick to fight with. It wasn't even a big one, or a strong one, or even one that could be used in any way to be useful. It was just a thin stick that she had found on the side of the road. The woes that were this battle were incredible! "Now! Start! Let honor preeeevaaaaail!" she'd cry out as the crowd would cheer loudly.

Zavie continued to be blissfully unaware as he ate one of the cookies on his platter, cats lazily laying around his room now.

Oh... boy. The old man didn't believe me. And judging from Zavie's mother's reaction, she's behind all this.
Oh, flywheels. This is ridiculous. I'm not even going to try to fight back, I'm just going to take my punishment like a man.
"Do your worst. I'm not going to fight you over a misunderstanding like this. I surrender, and apologize greatly for accidently insulting your wife and causing this mess" I say, setting my bag and glasses off to the side with the stick, out of harms way.
I then bow in a groveling fashion.
"I am no match for you anyway, loath as I am to admit it. Do what you will. I'm not going to struggle in any way. Just get it over with." I say, repeating myself to get the message across.

With a hearty laugh, the old man would walk forward and bonk Takeru on the head. Turning towards his wife and going to kiss her on the lips. The crowd would aww and those who bet on Takeru would throw various forms of paper at him, one even threw a tomato! Mother Bryce would simply smile as she tallied up the money to the winners of the bet, having even made a net gain from this little endeavor. Of course, some would go to her neighbors for their help, but it was practically fee money!

With the crowd now dispersed and Mother Bryce bowing gently to her neighbors, she pick up the stool and the portable table before looking towards Takeru with a grin. She honestly thought he was awful and not worth the time. First he attempted to see her son, and now didn't even bother to show his side of the truth was real. He wasn't honorable in the slightest, and she'd shake her head.

"I don't want to see you in my bakery or near my son ever again. You're pitiful and not even worth what honor you had." she'd say, leaving the boy on the street as she head back inside the bakery, promptly putting up the 'Close' sign on the front door before locking it. She didn't have any more time to give to this fraud and she needed time to get more inventory prepared. It was time to get back into the day.

Takeru winced at the blow. It hurt, but that was all.
He did the best he could with his circumstances, in his opinion.
So he ignored the crowd and Zavie's mother. Who were they to talk about honor?
It was probably her fault anyways.
So he walked off, slightly disenheartened, but still with a feeling like he did the right thing.
... right?
